The following evening, Madison met Blake in his office and waited patiently while he spoke with one of his subordinates about their newest client's order before he turned his attention back toward her and asked, "How was your weekend?"

"It went well..." Madison replied with a neutral expression while thinking about her decision not to attend the wedding and wondering if it would make any difference at all. "What's going on with you?" she abruptly inquired while glancing at the stacks of paper on his desk and noting that he seemed to be very busy. "You haven't been sleeping well lately," she added worriedly. "Are you okay?"
