The next morning, Madison arrived early for work and found a parking spot near the rear entrance to the building so that she wouldn't have far to travel after her shift ended each evening. Then she went straight upstairs without stopping by her desk or checking her messages...because there were no messages to check anyway. In addition, she didn't want anyone at the office seeing her in such a disheveled state after spending most of the previous night crying. Therefore, she entered her cubicle without acknowledging anyone else's presence and sat down at her computer without making eye contact with anyone else on the staff. After logging into her email account and scanning it briefly, she took a deep breath and began sorting through dozens of emails from angry clients and suppliers whose orders hadn't been fulfilled as promptly as they expected.
