Shadow POV

"Do you know how to ride?" Clarke asked as I looked at the horse. "Yes" I grabbed onto the saddle and swing my leg over as I jumped on. "Octavia taught me how while you were galloping through fields on sunflowers" I teased. "I was running for my life, being hunted" She reminded me. "Uh-huh" I laughed before she gets on her horse. Lexa waited for us as we ride over to her. "Are you ladies ready?" Lexa asked. "Yeah" I nodded before we headed out. We rode with the dead Ice Queen in front and each one of us on Lexa side as grounders walked behind us and a carriage in front with the Ice Queen. I think about last night, how Roan and I slept together. "Thinking about home?" Lexa asked Clarke. "Thinking about weather Arkadia is home" Clarke tells her. "What?" I asked Clarke. "When I left it had a different name" Clarke pointed out. "I was different..." she added. "You left a hero to you people and you both will return one" Lexa stated. "The Mountain slayers return with the body of the ice Queen. You bring them justice" Lexa tells us both. "You bring them justice" Clarke tells Lexa as I begin to get deep in thought. "We bring them peace" Lexa then says. "What about you? Can't wait to return to your boy" Lexa asked, catching my attention. "What?" I knit my brows together. "Bellamy I think his name was" she smiled. "Bellamy and her broke up" Clarke informed Lexa. "Oh, why is that?" She asked me. Clarke looked over at me for an answer. "After I lost my sister, I lost myself...Bellamy tired to help me the best he could but I just...couldn't find a way to handle things, so while he found someone else I slipped deeper into my pain" I explained. "Until I tried to take my own life...." I tell them both. "You did what?!" Clarke hissed out. "Calm down, mom and my dad got me help" I laughed. "Mom and dad? When did you start calling Kane dad?" Clarke asked. "I don't, at least not to his face...he'd grow a big head" I joked, causing Clarke and Lexa to both laugh. "Heda!" A grounder shouted and we stopped to see the field covered in dead grounders, Lexa's people. "Oh..." I gasped.

We walked a path and see flies around the bodies and I see all the bullet wounds. "All bullet wounds" Clarke whispered as she shakes her head. "Heda!" A man called out. "Come quick!" He shouted. We followed Lexa over, running to see Indra. "Indra!" I called out. "Heda?" She asked as Lexa approached her. I pulled her shoulder piece off to see the blood sweeping from her wound. "I need bandages now!" I called out. "Stay away! You're one of them" Indra yelled at me. "Indra let her help you" Lexa ordered as I begin to address the wound. "What happened here?" Clarke asked. "They attacked while we slept. Our watch was the north looking for Azgeda" she explained. "They killed our archers first our infantry couldn't get close. Then they excited the wounded" She explained. My father couldn't of done this. "The summit was two days ago. How could Kane do this?" Clarke asked. "It wasn't Kane" Indra stated. "It was Pike" he announced. My heart sank in my chest "How did you escape?" Lexa asked Indra. "Bellamy" Indra says. Anger rises in my chest "Bellamy? He was with them?" I asked her. "He wanted to spare the wounded but they wouldn't listen" Indra explained. "He convinced Pike to let me live, so I could deliver a message" she says. "What message?" I asked. "Skaikru rejects the coalition. This is their land now. We can leave or we can die" Indra tells us. Lexa expression changes completely. "Send riders. I call upon the armies of the twelve clans. In a days time, we lay waste to Arkadia! And everyone within its walls!" Lexa shouted, rage and anger in her voice as she stood. "Copy that!" The grounder then disappears with the others. My heart sank in my chest. "Wait!" I call out to Lexa. "Give us time to fix this" I begged her. "Stop them!" Lexa shouted as we begin to walk away. Two grounder men pointed spears at us. "What are you doing?" I asked Lexa. "I can't let you two leave" She informed us. "So what now? We're prisoners? Just like that?" I asked. "Yes" she answered with no emotion in her tone. "Let us go to Arkadia?" I begged her. "No" she answered. "At least let me talk to my father. We can bring him here" I tell her before walking over to Indra. "Hey, at the summit. My father told me he gave you the radio. A way to signal him" I reminded her. "Do it, please"I begged her. I glanced over at Lexa and she nodded.

"The bleeding has stopped" I tell Lexa as Clarke and I check on Indra wounds. "Do you need anything for pain?" I asked Indra. Just then the flap opened and I lifted my head to see Octavia. "Octavia?" I knit my brows together. "Where's my father?" I questioned. "He sent me" she informed us as she approached Indra. "Indra, thank god" Octavia whispered as she see Indra is a live. "How did this happen?" Lexa hissed out. "Kane lost the election to Pike. Everything's different" Octavia explained. "Your people voted for this" Lexa hissed through her teeth. I shake my head "No..." Clarke whispered. "I don't believe it" she says. I knew Pike was a bad man. From the moment I met him I knew there was something wrong. "How would either of you know. You two haven't been here!" Octavia hissed out at us. I get in between Octavia and Clarke. "Listen to me. The grounder army is gonna be here less than a day. I need to see Bellamy" I tell her. "Bellamy was apart of this Shadow, he's with Pike" Octavia informed me. My heart sinks, Bellamy being a part of this? There's no way. "What makes you think he'll help us?" She questioned. "He saved Indra life" I informed her. "If what Octavia is saying is true, then Pike trust him" I explained to Lexa as I turned to her. "If I can get to him. He can get to Pike" I say. "You can't just walk through the gates, Shadow. You've been living with their enemy. If it were me, I'd kill you on the spot" she hissed through her clenched jaw. "I can get her in..." Octavia nodded.

Octavia sneaks me into camp and into a room where I sit on a chair. "I'll go get Bellamy, stay here" Octavia ordered me before she rushed out of the room. It wasn't long before the door opened and Bellamy walked inside with Octavia. His face was overcome with shock. I wanted to jump into his arms and cry but then I remember the massacred army and how many people he had killed. "Now I'm done" Octavia stated before leaving the room, shutting the door behind her. "Go easy on Octavia. I had to beg her to get me into camp" I tell Bellamy. "What are you doing here Shadow?" Bellamy says with a harshness in his tone. "We need to talk" I tell him. He scoffed "You've decided that?" He asked. "The mighty Haiplana, who choose the grounders over her own people?" He asked. "Who turned her back on us and when we came to rescue Clarke and you?" He reminded me. "Now, you want to talk?" He scoffed once again, anger in his voice. I slowly approached him. "I came here to tell you that the Ice Nation has paid a price" I informed him. "Justice has been served for the attack on Mount Weather. I came here to tell you it's over" I explained. He crossed his arms against his chest as he shakes his head. "There it is again" he pointed out. "Why do you get to decided it's over?" He questioned. "We did our part Bellamy" I whispered to him. "We?" He asked. "Lexa, Clarke and me..." I paused for a moment. "The Ice Queen is dead" I say. "The problem was solved and then you let Pike ruin everything" I tell him. Bellamy takes a deep breathe as he walked closer to me. "Why are you here, Shadow?" Bellamy asked. "Arkadia needs to make things right" I informed him. "Or Lexa and then Twelve clans will wipe us out" I explained. "Let her try" Bellamy answered. My heart breaks at his words and I tilted my head tot he side. "Please tell me that going to war is not what you want" I begged him. He shakes his head "We've been at war since we landed. At least Pike understands that" he tells me. I scoffed "Pike is the problem!" I raise my voice, frustrated on trying to get through to him. "This isn't who you are Bellamy" I tried to grab his hands but he quickly pulled away. "You're wrong. This... is who I've always been" he hissed out. "And I let you and Octavia and your father convince me that we could trust these people when they've shown over and over who they are" he raised his voice. "And I won't let anyone else die for that mistake" he added. "Bellamy..." I whispered. "I need you..." I confessed to him. "You need me?" He repeated. "Yes, I do" I say. "I need the guy that wouldn't let me pull that lever by myself in Mount Weather. The guy who tried to be there when my sister died" I reminded him. "You left me, you left us! Joined Lexa and her stupid Coalition" He yelled. "You think that was easy for me?" I asked him. "I know Lexa is the reason Izzy is dead! I have to live with that everyday" I think explained. "Bellamy-" he cut me off. "Enough, Shadow!" He shouted. "You are not in charge here and that's a good thing because people die when you're in charge" he hissed out. "Lexa left us to die in Mount Weather and forced us to kill everyone who helped us! People who trusted us!" He screamed. Bellamy is hurting and I hadn't seen it before until now. How much he was holding inside. Tears begin to push from my waterline and fall down my cheeks. "I just— I—" I stuttered over my words and Bellamy turned his back to me. I sit down in the chair "I'm sorry" I apologize to him. "I'm sorry I left you" I choked out. "But I knew I could because they had you" I tell him before lowering my head and beginning to sob. I hear his heavy footsteps before his warm hand touches mine. He kneels down to my face as I reached out more as he begins to softly rubbing my forearm with his hand. I lifted my head and gaze into his dark brown eyes. "I know we can fix this" I whispered to him as he looked up at me with a soft and longing gaze. "I'm sorry, too" Bellamy whispered back before he yanked my wrist towards him and the sound of cuffs rang my ears. I looked down to see Bellamy had hand cuffed me to the table before slowly standing up. "Hey..." I knit my brows together. Bellamy slowly walked towards the door. "No! Don't. No! Bellamy!" I begged as I sobbed harder. I struggle against the cuff around my wrist. "Bellamy! Don't please!" I shouted louder before he walked out of the room, leaving me there by myself.

Bellamy had gotten another guard and he uncuffed me before grabbing me by the upper arm and guided me out of the room and down the hall. "Pike should be in his quarters" Bellamy tells the other guard. I try to struggle against him. "Bellamy, you don't have to do this" I tells him. "Yes, I do" he stated. "Just let me go" I tell him, struggling against him harder. "Believe it or not. I'm doing this for your own good" Bellamy says. "Believe it or not-" Octavia kicked the other guard down. "I'm doing this for your own good" she tells Bellamy before knocking out the guard. "You can't just hit a guard!" Bellamy tells at her. "I just did" Octavia rubbed in his face. "Now let Shadow go" Octavia ordered. "I can't do that" Bellamy shakes his head before pushing me behind him. We hear chatter in the distances "They're coming" I tell Octavia. "You should go" Bellamy warned her as he let me go. I see the electric baton and quickly grab it and turned it on, pressing it against Bellamy's leg. He leaned over, falling onto the ground and I dropped to my knees, quickly finding the keys. "Shadow, hurry up" Octavia tells me as I unlocked my hands. "Follow me!" She ordered as we run down the hall. I followed her over to where my mother and father are waiting. "Mom? Dad?" I breathed out, wrapping my arms around them both. "We know what happened. We know what Pike did" Abby tells me as she hugged me tighter before pulling from me. "Is there anything we can do to prevent retaliation?" She asked me. "We have to hurry" Octavia says. "We came here to give them Pike" Octavia tells my parents. "He's the duly elected Chancellor. Our people knew what they were voting for" My father tells us both as we walked over to the wall and begins getting us a space out. "Besides. He has guards and all the guns" He added. "Can't get close to him" He finished saying. "And that's not the way we do things" My mother says. "Then maybe it's time we change the way we do things?" Octavia suggested. Security Breach! Lockdown commencing!!! The man over the speaker called out before an alarm blared through Arkadia. "You two need to go. Now" my father says. "What about Lincoln?" Octavia asked. "You want to help him? Do it from the outside with this" he extended a radio to Her. "The range isn't great so stay close and wait for me to contact you" he instructed. "Now go" My father rushed Octavia out the space and then turned and hugged onto me tight. "May we meet again" I whispered to him. "May we meet again" he smiled before helping me out the space. I turned to my mother "Come with me?" I suggested. "I wish I could" she whispered before reaching out and touching my face. "May we meet again" she says. I nodded and hesitated to leave. I followed Octavia out of the camp.

I get back to Lexa and Clarke, entering into the tent. Lexa paces back and forth. "Where's Octavia?" Indra asked me. "She's watching over the camp" I informed Indra. "So, tells us Shadow. How does this end?" Lexa questioned. "Have you come up with a way to save your people, yet again?" she questioned. "No" I say truthfully. "Only you can do that" I tell her. "What happened here was an act of war. Your army was here to help us and my people slaughtered them. You have every right to respond" I tell her. "Every right to wipe us out. Or, you can change the way you do things" I suggested. "Why should she change?" Indra asked me. "Blood must have blood" Indra tells me. "Really?" I arched a brow at her. "Because from where I stand the only way that ends is with everyone dead" I tell her. "So, what kind of leader do you want to be?" I questioned Lexa. "The kind who kills every chance she's gets because that's your way, or the kind who shows the world a better way?" I asked her. "You consider letting a massacre go unavenged, a better way?" Lexa asked me. "If it ends this cycle of violence? Yes" I nodded. "If it brings about peace? Yes. Someone has to take the first step" I tell her. "Let it be you" I whispered. She closed her eyes and begins to walk away from me. "You say you want peace" Clarke spoke up. "That everything you've done was to achieve that. Yet, here we stand on brink of another war. A war you could stop" Clarke tells her. "Commander, you can't seriously be considering this" Indra tells Lexa. Lexa stated between Clarke and me. "I'm not considering it. I'm doing it" Lexa stated. "Heda please-" she cut Indra off. "Indra. Our people act as if war is easier than peace. If that's so, should we not try and achieve the more difficult goal?" Lexa pointed out. "Polis will not support you" She tells Lexa. "Titus—" Lexa cut her off again. "Titus is my subject! They're all my subjects!" She raised her voice. "Do you say they will defy me?" Lexa asked. "Will you defy me?" She then asked Indra. "No Heda, I will not" She tells Lexa. "Then let it be known...blood must not have blood" She spoke. I feel a weight being lifted off my chest, knowing our people were safer.
