Chapter 21

Raphael's pov

Using a forbidden spell I had learned, I made the vampires feel an immense hunger.

This hunger made them extremely weak and useless.

Only blood could satisfy this hunger but if I let them go, the human who they would drink from would die because they would drain him or her and about three more before being satisfied.

So far, I hadn't gotten the answer i sought.

It would seem they were oath bound not to give any information regarding their master.

The moment they tried to tell me, they would run mad or die mysteriously.

I was now down to two people and I hoped to get any information at all from them.

I walked into the room where they were chained up and I could see the fear in their eyes.

It was obvious they were on the brink of madness.

Unlike what people know about vampires, vampires are actually very sensitive to hunger.

They turn desperate once deprived of blood and will do anything to have their feel of it.

In order to Increase their co-operation, I brought a pail of blood with me.

The warm fragrance of the blood made them even hungrier.

Vampires didn't necessarily need human blood, any blood would do.

It's just that human blood was nicer tasting and it was easier to hunt and drink human blood since their body size would mean they had no need to bend down or look for a neck.

Actually, vampires also doesn't need to drink from the neck directly.

It's just that there's more blood at the jurgular vein of a human.

I dropped the pail at the far side of the room, dipped my hand inside and tasted it Infront of them.

They began thrashing and screaming, pleading to be released to enjoy the sweet taste of blood but I refused.

"There's no use fighting, even your chains were magically enchanted to ensure you don't escape"

"Why not just kill us, it's not like you'll let us go even if we tell you what you want to know"

"That's true" I said and kept quiet for a few seconds before I said "but at least that would mean I would grant you a less painful and quick death".

"We really can't tell you what you seek, the moment we feel we are betraying our master, the contract will terminate our souls".

"Then tell me in clues, any clue".

The second guy looks up and says

"Maybe we could try giving a riddle of sorts but then again, we would still be betraying our master so it won't work".

This made me very frustrated.

I was about to talk when I heard my phone ringing.

I looked at the caller ID to see Austin calling me.

I picked up the call and heard his addictive Voice.

"Hi! Raphael, are you busy right now"

I look at the two vampires infront of me and say

"No, I'm not"

"That's good, can you meet I and Emily at Loretta's coffe shop?"

"Where?"

"You know, it's the coffee shop close to the school".

"Alright, I'll be there soon".

I drop the call and look at the vampires infront of me before saying

"I'm going out, I'll be back soon to deal with you guys".

They plead and beg for death but I refuse.

Like I said, hunger can bring a vampire down to his or her knees.

It's not just the pain it brings, it's also the madness it brings.

I go out of the room, walk down the hallway and begin ascending the stairs that lead down to the basement.

I go to my room to have a quick shower then I get dressed in a casual but good looking clothe.

I'm not a fan of perfumes put I decide to spray one on hoping Austin will notice, why? I don't know.

I walk to my car and get in while thinking 'if not for Emily, this would've been a date between Austin and I'.

And with that thought in mind, I decide that I will ask him out on a date later on.

I drive over to the cafe where Austin told me to meet him and I see Emily there.

I walk over to the table and sit down, the design of the cafe looks good.

I smile at Emily and Austin and they smile too.

We order for just coffee and while the waiter gets our coffee, I look around the cafe.

The interior looks good, the wall has a brown wallpaper with flowery designs, the place is r crowded and I don't expect it to be as it's not rush hour.

When the waiter delivered our coffee, I looked at them and decided to break the silence.

When I was about to talk, we all said

"We have to talk" at the same time, worry etched into our faces.
