Chapter 19

In the middle of nowhere, there was a girl, she could be seen running, running with all her strength, with abandon, whether she wasted her mana or not she cared not, for she was running for her life. For you see, mana can be replenished and gotten back but a life once lost could never be regained, at least not for mortals.

As she ran, she turned back to check what was chasing her, it was a horde, a horde of magic beasts, eyes glowing red to show their bloodlusts. She kept on running even faster, fear of death and being trampled upon by the beast's fuelling her.

She kept running for a while but due to the fact that there were no changes in the environment, it seemed as thought she didn't even move. Soon, she stopped running and turned around to face the beast's, it seemed she had decided to fight.

Emily's Pov

I got tired of running, I could keep running because my mana was being replenished instany but I was mentally exhausted, how could I let this go on?, If I decide to keep running then I would eventually die, it's better I try to kill these beast's or thin them out slowly.

I stopped running, turned around and faced them. I decided a large scale spell would be nice and though it would take time to cast, it was worth it. I thought and decided a meteor rain was in order. I stood still, closed my eyes in order not to let fear get to me and then I began chanting the spell.

It took a while and as I counted the seconds, the beast's drew near. Just as I said the last part of the spell, I felt the hirn of an animal impale me. I fell down and opened my eyes. I saw the horde still coming towards me, only one of them had gotten ahead and stabber me with its horn.

I felt sleepy, I must be dying, I closed my eyes and felt the darkness surround me and the last thing I heard was the sound of meteors falling down.

I awoke to find myself in my room and it was day time. 'wait, how did I get here? Was dying the only way to get out?', I was quite weak though, almost as if I hadn't rested at all which if I was being honest I didn't. That was mentally exhausting.

I kept trying to understand what happened,was death the only answer to leaving that place?, I was confused and I was glad, at least I came out of there alive, well alive in the real world.

I decided to hang out with the guys, we needed a plan after all, we couldn't just sit and wait for th⁰e end or whatever. I got up and took my phone from the table which I had left it.

It had been a day since we last talked so I decided to call Austin. I didn't have Raphael's number but I would get it later, there was going to be plenty of chances to do that seeing as we were going to be working together from now on.

Austin's Pov

I had awoken back into my body, a day had passed, I noticed I had more muscles which must be a bonus from the training. I also noticed my room was trashed for whatever reason, I must have done it because my door was locked and no one could have come in.

I got up and went and took a shower before I took my brush and brushed my teeth. I finally felt refreshed, I had been sleeping for a full day, I wondered if my parents had come to my room knocking and I didn't answer.

I was about to leave my room and go down  the stairs to see my parents when I heard my phone ringing. 

I picked it up to see it was Emily calling.

"Hey Austin,  how are you doing? "

"I'm fine Emily, how are you too?"

"I'm fine Austin, I was thinking, why not we all hangout and make plans for the future?, We need to decide on where to use as a base and with all this going on, I don't think it's wise if we keep going to school"

"That's a good idea Emily, let's meet at Loretta's, you know, that coffee shop close to the school".

"Alright sure, do tell Raphael, I don't have his number".

"Alright, meet me there at 2pm today".

I hung up the call and I went downstairs. On getting down the stairs, my mom came to me and gave me a hug while crying.

"Mom what's wrong?, Why are you crying? Who upset you?" I asked her worriedly in quick succession.

"It was you, how could you lock your room for a whole day without having anything to eat?, I was do scared, at a time I heard some noises in your room and when I came to the door and knocked, you refused to talk or open the door, I thought you had died" she said and buried her face into my chest.

I thought back to how my room had been thrashed and remembered what happened in my soul world.

"I'm sorry mom, I was very exhausted yesterday that I took an overdose of sleeping pills so that I could rest, the noise you heard was me going to the bathroom while I was still feeling groggy from sleeping". I said to her in order to comfort her.

"Oh my god son, why would you overdose in sleeping pills?, Do you want to die and leave me childless?, Please don't do this again son, it's too dangerous ok?"

"Yes mom, I won't do it again".

"Alright, come and have lunch, I was so worried that you hadn't eaten since yesterday, you must be starving".

"Yes mom, I'm really hungry", I said while smiling and followed my mom into the kitchen. After having my lunch, I told my mom I had to go somewhere. I called Raphael and told him where to meet us before I went to the same location.

Raphael's pov

After the ride, I went home to take care of a few things, I know people will try to come after Austin, the energy he released when he was unlocking the seal would be noticed by those vicious power hungry scum bags but I would never let th get to Austin.

I went home and talked to a subordinate of mine, I had transformed him into a vampire when he was close to dying, he had been treated cruelly by everyone and he beeged me to save him.

I gave him immortality and he pledged his life and loyalty to me. I had given him a task to do before, which was to find out any strange movements that would occur around Austin.

He told me that nothing had happened so far so I sent him to watch Austin and make sure he got home safely.

Knowing we had battles ahead of us, I decided to learn more about vampire magic. I usually just fought without magic but the battles ahead would require magic so I decided to learn it.

I went into my huge library and began searching for books that had any knowledge of vampire magic. I saw a book that interested me and so I took it.

I was still reading the theory of the concept of vampire possessoion, it's a weird way of using a person's shadow to possess the owner of the shadow.

The book said to channel my mana into my shadow and then using my shadow, to possess the victim's shadow which in turn would possess the owner of the shadow.

I circulated my mana and felt it go towards my shadow, I discovered I had control over my shadow and when I made it move, it actually moved, it knocked down a case which told me it could affect the physical world.

Not having any living being to practice the spell on, I made my shadow carry objects using their shadows and doing mundane stuff.

While doing this, I heard my phone ring.

"Boss, we found something strange while following Austin home" I heard my subordinate in the line. I was immediately shocked.

"Are there any threats to Austin?, Is he okay?"

"He's fine, he was being followed by a group of people but he got home before they could act".

"Send me your location, I'll be there shortly" I said and dropped the call as rage consumed me.
