Volume 1.2 Angel of Life and Death

"Wake up, my child," a soothing voice graced Myrene's ears.

She slowly opened her eyes and the first thing she saw was an endless white above her. She slowly sat down. And as she observed her surroundings, there were white clouds floating everywhere. When she glanced down she was seemingly stepping in the clear blue skies.

"My child, I'm glad you're awake."

Myrene turned her attention in front of her, and she saw the most beautiful being she had ever seen in her entire life. He had long hair that was made of strands of gold. And orbs of eyes that shone like the sun. There were two large white wings on his back and he was wearing a white suit.

In his hands, he was holding a book that was glowing with faint blue light.

"Myrene Villaforte," the angel spoke to her. "I am the Angel of Life and Death, here to personally tell you that God is pleased with your action of saving the mother of that child."

"So I'm really dead." Somewhat when she said those words it felt natural. She didn't feel any hard feelings when someone talked about their own death.

"Yes, child." The Angel of Life and Death confirmed with profound calmness.

"How are Anna and her mother?" Myrene asked with politeness laced in her voice.

"It has been ten years now since the calamity in your world. Anna, the child you save became a teacher and she is still living with her mother happily."

"I see." Myrene smiled. "I'm glad they were doing fine now."

The Angel of Life and Death, also smiled, a bundle of flowers of different kinds appeared in his hand. Then he handed it down to Myrene.

'Flowers? Is this some sort of welcoming gift in the afterlife?'

Myrene gave the angel a confused look then back at the flower she received.

The Angel sensing her confusion started to speak. "Since they can't find your body after the tsunami struck, Anna and her mother always offer these flowers to you at the seaport. They prayed that these flowers would reach you to show you how thankful they were of you, for saving their lives."

Myrene was surprised by what she heard. She glanced at the flowers she received. "They give me this..." A tingling warmth feeling surged inside her. She couldn't help herself from not smiling from ear to ear. "I don't know what to say."

"You don't need to say anything." The Angel of life and death exclaimed. "The feeling you shared together with them is already enough to express your love, gratitude, and happiness to each other."

"Yes." Myrene held the flowers closer to her.

"Now then my child," the angel opened the book he was holding. "As I said before, God is very pleased with the action you have done, he granted you the gift to be reincarnated, to any world you desire to live. You can tell me, what kind of world do you wish to live for your next life again."

"My next life..." Myrene fell into contemplation.

The Angel of Life and Death as he observed Myrene found her strange. She seemed not surprised that she died. Even now, she didn't ask anything and went straight thinking about what he said.

The Angel glanced back at the book he was holding.

{Name Myrene Villaforte

Main Characteristics: Since the death of her parents, she has lived on her own and started to develop a habit of not troubling other people.}

'It might be due to this.' The Angel of Life and Death looked back at Myrene once again.

"Before I answer, may I ask if my parents got reincarnated as well?"

"Yes," The Angel answered quietly, wondering why Myrene asked such things.

"Are they living in the same world?"

'Ah, I see...' The Angel finally got why Myrene was asking these questions. "No, each of them reincarnated in different worlds."

Sadness and longing flickered inside Myrene's eyes. The Angel saw this but he just waited for her to speak again.

"Then between my parents, who was reincarnated in the worst situation?"

The Angel of Life and Death fell in silence before he spoke up. "May I ask if the world you intended to go, would be to your parents who were reincarnated in the worst place?"

"Yes," Myrene answered.

"But why would you go so far for that? You can choose any world of your desire, start a new life, and live more happily this time."

"In my twelve years with my mom and dad, that was the happiest day of my life. And even if they died," Myrene chuckled faintly. "Can't you believe that they already planned out everything so that I can still live properly even without them? It was like they knew they would already die. That's why I wanted to see them both so much. I missed them dearly."

She stopped, holding the tears that were going to fall in her eyes. "But I guess that would be impossible now given that each of them was in different worlds."

"So at least I want to go to the world, where I can at least see one of them. And at the same time be a help to them."

"Very well, my child. If that is what you will. But I can't enclose to you, whose parents of you, you will be able to see in the world you will reincarnate,"

"It's fine with me," Myrene said with a smile. "I will just need to find them."

The Angel of Life and Death smiled, "It's alright my child. You don't need to find your parents. You will see them as soon as you get reincarnated."

"Really?" Excitement filled Myrene's eyes. "Then I'm really glad to hear that."

"My child one more thing, do you wish to keep your memories or remove all of them in your next life?"

"I wish to keep it. I don't want to forget my past life."

"Very well. Then all of your memories will remain. I hope and prayed, the other god of the world you will reincarnate will bless you there."

"God of the other world?"

"Yes, once you go to that world, we can't interfere with you there. Since that world is not within our domain anymore."

"I see..." Myrene said. "You have done plenty enough. Thank you."

The Angel of Life and Death gently smiled as he swayed his hands. "Our time together will be finally over. Before you go on, please choose four among these last gifts."

A table appeared in front of them and Myrene saw different objects on it.

"This..."

"We wished to give you more, but it might cause an imbalance to the world. Every other god of the other worlds, only allowed us to give you these items and told us that you could only choose four gifts among these."

"I see..." Myrene glanced down at the eight objects. There was a translucent screen above the objects along with their descriptions and functions on it.

Life Pill

Unlimited Space ring

Memory Loss Powder

Stealth Skill Scroll

Teleportation Skill Scroll

Soul Bind Skill Scroll

Appraisal Skill Scroll

Pain Immunity Skill Scroll

After a moment of contemplation, Myrene made her choice. "I will choose these four items,"

"Is that your final choice?"

"Yes."

The Angel waved his hands once again. All three items went to the first choice of Myrene, the space ring.

"This is now our farewell." The Angel faintly smiled at her.

"Thank you for everything," Myrene said as she smiled genuinely. Soon light particles started to envelop her.

"My child, life may become incredibly difficult for you in the world in which you choose to live, but remember the feeling of all the warmth you received in your previous life, and that will help you hold on to your new existence."

Myrene sensed that the Angel's voice was tinged with concern. It was as if he was forewarning Myrene about what she may anticipate in the new world she would be living in.

"Remember, Myrene, that you are never alone; if one person leaves you, others will come into your life again to give you aid or relationships you'll never expect to have. Never forget to open your heart and mind to all possibilities. This is my final warning and parting advice to you."

That was the last thing Myrene heard before she vanished.
