59 The Journey to North

"Wait—wait a sec, isn't this too much Hold on! Why would I be placed as a professor what good does that make?" Arthas was surprised about what the Queen would consider as a privilege.

"How would we know? We don't question her Majersty no matter how absurd it is, but if you want an answer go talk to her directly!" Roland was a bit flustered after reading the letter.

"Hey, these are just her privileges, right? There has to be a condition somewhere! What's going I don't understand why would she want to make me a professor."

Arthas was worried in more ways than one, to start he didn't have the necessary knowledge to properly handle himself, much more teach kids his age, probably above his age.

Back on earth, Arthas was an intelligent student who was proudly looked up to by others, although he was intelligent he was never the type to socialize with people, much less teach others things that he knew.

"Right, Yes let us continue, there are still more. 'As those privileges, being given the role of a professor would be interesting no? Soon, in due it would be explained. Roland and Mayward would be the ones to handle the process of your applications, knowing them they would probably be the ones reading the…letter…to you right now…" Roland went silent.

I guess you guys got busted huh? Sucks to be you I guess, Arthas was amused at the queen's insight and anticipation that they would be the one to deliver the letter.

"Roland…I think we got caught, If she ever asks, I'm blaming it on you, not that it would change anything…" Mayward blamed his colleague for his misfortune of being caught and sighed.

"Please continue with the letter, I know there are still more."

Arthas's voice brought Roland back to reality, keeping him out of a daze.

"Ah, yes 'No matter, no punishment would be given…" Both their faces lightened up from that sentence, "However, I would place you two on another 'teambuilding' exercise…" Their happy faces turned to gloom as Roland declared the statement.

Seeing them in despair and seeming to be in a world of possibilities, Arthas took the initiative and grabbed the paper from Roland's hands with little to no resistance. They were both in a daze and felt soulless.

Hang in there guys, spring will soon come it's way, Arthas felt pity for them as he watched them with devoided eyes,

Arthas shifted his focus and looked towards the paper that was in his hand, the texture felt rough and crude, it wasn't paper made for royalty or with quality befitting for nobility, but it was paper meant to be thrown away after being opened, crumpled and ugly.

His gaze stuck on the paper and reread everything, being careful with every word as if to not miss anything.

'So Going on a recap about what she said, academic expenses would be on them, however, equipment would be shouldered by me, Instead they would be the ones to guard the village against harm, Lastly, I would become a professor…The last choice looked suspicious but I'll judge whether it would be advantageous later on.'

Arthas made his fingers go over the paper as he continued reading as to where they left off. Reaching the end of the letter there was nothing about conditions or stipulated outcomes that would be met by him or be maintained, it was too good to be true.

As he was about to disregard the rest of the letter, there was something that glimmered through his eyes.

It wasn't an object or something shiny, it was a word that made his brows crunch and made him wonder about his purpose in this world once more.

He murmured the words under his breath unbelieving about what was written on the letter, much more a personal letter from Moonglade's Queen.

"I encourage you to accept this firm opportunity, Arthas, The Syndicate stained in Blood Red, The Dominion's Champion…"

Arthas felt his body succumb to fear and his heart beat so loudly that all the surrounding noises began to dull in their wake, his blood vessels constricted from panic.

His palms were sweaty, his knees were weak, and his arms getting heavy. Nervous on the surface he looked calm and ready, to drop the weight of his responsibility.

'The queen knows? She knows? What does she know? What else does she know? Wait, considering that she knows Thalia then it must be it, yeah, but…'

Arthas was very confused about the current situation and how he would need to attend to his decision-making much more with careful intent and meticulous understanding of the situation.

'Assuming that she knows a lot about me and the Dominion then it is safe to that everyone around me is in danger in the vicinity of the kingdom. Then I have no choice but to play along for now.'

Many things were coming through his mind, he was panicking on the inside but tried to keep himself composed in front of Roland and Mayward who still had a despondent look.

As Arthas was about to return the letter, in an instant it busted into flames that charred the paper instantaneously leaving no reaction to react or do anything about it.

All of them were shocked about what happened and looked with bewilderment about what just happened.

Arthas's gaze met with the two individuals in front of him but just passed off a light laugh, indicating his innocence about the burnt letter.

"Well, whatever, that girl was always witty and cunning, I imagine her to do something like this." Mayward shrugged his shoulders and passed off everything that just happened.

Roland agreed with him as he lightly nodded to his friend's statement.

He turned his head around and looked at Arthas with a composed gaze that was reaffirmed by time.

"Arthas, I may not have been able to continue reading the letter, but seeing how it went up in flames, I'm guessing that Twilight doesn't want anyone else to read it other than you."

"Yes", Arthas nodded and replied firmly, "There were some personal messages but nothing of importance."

'No importance for you but for me, it is a big, large, enormous, gigantic of a matter, Who the hell is your Queen?!'

Arthas kept his outside appearance calm and steady while his internal self was fighting his demons about questions, frustration, and fear of the unknown.

"We have dragged our conversations for too long, I think we know where this is going."

Roland looked at him with a serious expression and Mayward turned down his smile to a minimum and exuded an atmosphere of business.

"Arthas, The Summoner that saved the city of Alcemia, by the request of Her Majesty, Twilight Celeste Von Luna, the Moon's Priestess, the Moonlight's Grace, has allowed you to be admitted to the Academy of St. Selene, this coming opening ceremony for Freshmen. Do you accept this ordeal?"

Arthas was enthralled by their manner of speaking by Roland and was focused on what he was saying, After a proper invite he was thinking about many things that would soon come to his life, it was one of the first stepping stones of a new journey.

Thinking about everything that had happened, things were certainly moving very fast, It felt like it was just yesterday that he was reincarnated by meeting a Goddess, actually summoning dinosaurs, and being transported to a world with magic.

The memories that flooded made him think about the perilous undertaking that he would take, more enemies, stronger allies, dangerous lands and individuals. The responsibility of the world.

'I'll freaking break free from responsibility and do things my way, watch me, Leah, as I break through this shit, My way, and make those tax collectors sorry for ordering me around!'

Though he was scared of what would the future hold, it was exciting as well. There were things to be enjoyed around the world he thinks, that was why he wasn't afraid to move forward.

'If you're going to be so afraid of doing it wrong, you'll never be able to do it at all.'

Roland stood up and reached out his right hand, Arthas stared at the hand with white gloves for a while before standing about and firmly shaking the hand offered by Roland.

"Yeah, I'll definitely go, I can't wait to do work upheaving the societal status there, I'll make your queen regret making me go there. Just you wait!"

Arthas's eyes burned with passion with a wide smile as he declared his statement on his actions.

Nemesis and Morpheus were enjoying what they were seeing, Arthas experiencing joy excitement, and thrill. It was one of the things that made him feel alive, one of the things that makes humans human.

And so, the journey to the North where Arthas shall continue his struggles and endeavors as he tries to break free of responsibility shall continue.

For how long? Only Arthas can answer.
