Ch 22 - Friends (1)

"What?" She responded utterly confused not only about how I knew her identity but also as to why I was calling her the future mayor.

"Julia isn't it?" I questioned.

"H-how do you know my name?" She asked as she began to get worried.

"Oh, I know a lot about you," I said as I broke free from the cuffs and stood up.

"Stay back!" Julia yelled as she backed away to leave and get reinforcements.

"You don't want to do that," I said.

"No one out there could help you. They are all so weak that they would just be cannon fodder that would actually make me stronger."

"Anyways, now that we're alone why don't we have a talk? I mean I've already done so much for you it's the least you can do," I said stretching.

"What do you mean you've already done so much for me?" Julia asked trying to buy time to escape.

"Huh? You haven't figured it out yet?" I asked disappointed.

"Figured what out?" She responded.

"Everything! The kids dying, Luke being the scapegoat, Edward's death, and the faked crime scene," I said reviling all my accomplishments.

"W-what?" Julia asked even more confused and now truly beginning to get scared.

"It was all for you!" I said happily.

'Well actually me,' I said in my head.

"You killing the kids and Edward was all for me?" Julia asked now terrified.

"Of course!" I lied. "Everything went perfectly to plan, now all you need to do it accept the benefits I've given you."

"What benefits?" She asked in response.

"Mayor!" I stated simply.

"Mayor?" She asked still confused.

"Indeed, you've been second in command for so many years. You've been working in the shadows while Edward claimed your work as his own," I said pitifully.

"That's not true..." Julia say with a deflated tone.

"But it is! Everything has always been you hasn't it? I knew it the moment I met Edward. He did not have the charisma nor intelligence to be the head— only the power," I said bringing light to Julia's efforts.

"How do you know this?" She asked now becoming curious.

"It was easy, like I said I knew the moment I met Edward that he was not all that he claimed to be. So I needed to find the true mastermind. In order to do this, I set up the perfect ploy. And lady luck shined down on me and gave me an opportunity so I took advantage of it," I responded.

"The killing of the kids?" Julia asked to confirm.

"Ding, ding, ding. With the scene that I created it would have surely caused the brain of the operation to want to investigate. And I was right because you showed up that day," I said smiling.

"Okay... but I was just a random person that was also gathered there, how could you have know it was me," she asked wanting to get all the information.

"You're right! I didn't know it was you but I did see the chip that Edward was using to communicate with," I answered.

"But that still doesn't explain it because you shouldn't have known who he was talking to."

"Also right, and the only way to know who he was talking to would have been to take it. And in this case from his dead body. But that's not the reason I killed him."

"No?"

"Nope. As you know I went to meet with Edward last night and when I told him about the possibility of a mage serial killer he messaged you right away. Knowing that he had the chip on him it was perfect, so I lured him away."

"You still haven't explained why you killed him."

"I'm getting there. After I killed him I picked up the chip and in order to magically talk with someone you need to write their name on it. So when I saw your name, 'Julia' I just needed to match it to the face. And the easiest way to do that was to get rid of your enemy," I said.

"So by killing two birds with one stone I eliminated your biggest threat and got your name. That's why I killed him." I explained.

"Then with Edward's death and me knowing that you met him, I would come directly to you..." Julia finished.

"Exactly!" I said overjoyed.

"And now that you've meet me what's your end goal?" She asked concerned.

"End goal?" I repeated and paused.

'Why the world of course' I said in my head but instead answered, "For you to rightfully get your position."

Continuing I shared, "You were always in the dark and never got your recognition so I'm giving you a chance to go out and get what's truly yours. The mayor of Wingston is dead so who better to replace him than the person who made him who he was?"

"But I can't just go out and become mayor," Julia said skeptical.

"Yes your can, and I can help! The reason you weren't mayor in the first place was because you didn't have the power to do so. But now you have me!" I responded excited.

"You?" She asked unimpressed.

"Sure you had a diabolical plan, but that would make us both the heads, and we wouldn't have any strength," she countered.

"Ah, but your so wrong because, power is all that I am. Did you forget that I killed Edward?" I argued back.

"But you were captured by my team and you are not a mage so you must have hired someone to kill Edward. Not to mention your just a kid," She said in response.

"That's right your team did take me... and that one guy hit me in the head... guess I'll just have to show you," I said as a terrifying smirk grew on my face.

Dusting my hands against each other I asked, "Would you like to take a walk with me?"

"Huh? We're in an underground facility that has four reinforced doors and hundreds of agents. You can't just walk out of here," she said laughing at my craziness.

"Oh, but we can, follow me," I replied seriously.

*CRUNCH*

*CRASH*

*BOOM*

The first reinforced door crumbled into a ball as if it was a piece of paper.

"Come on," I said walking through the gaping hole in the wall.

Stunned Julia stood there with her mouth wide open.

"H-h-how? Y-you did-didn't even say anything?!" Julia asked as she witnessed a miracle.

"Shh, it's our secret!" I said turning back to smile at her.

Continuing on my way I blew through the other three remaining doors with ease.

'Wow, my wind magic has really become so much stronger. I seriously need to test out my capabilities once we leave this place,' I say to myself.

As soon as we breached through the last door we were met with hundreds of armed men all holding weapons ready to attack.

"Watch as I show you what power really is," I said to Julia.

*PHOOO*

A barely audible whistle was the only thing Julia and I heard before everything went silent.

*BANG*

*CRASH*

*PLOP*

Everyone collapsed to the ground dead.

In but an instant I had killed hundreds of mortal men with nothing more than a thought.

Purely by creating mini strands of wind magic I sent them through the hearts of every person in the room besides Julia and myself.

It was like the stands I used to behead the wolf when I was a kid. However, these strands moved! And I could focus them to attack a target.

Satisfied with my prowess I turned back to look at Julia, only to see a disgusted expression plastered on her face.

'Fucking hypocrite. Wants me to show my power but then becomes terrified at my abilities. If I didn't need her I would skin her alive,' I said angered.

"They were innocent... they had children..." Julia mumbled to herself.

Ignoring the turmoil that was going on in Julia's head I sent a spark of dark magic at every body.

Doing this would increase my power even more and get rid of all the evidence.

"You're the brains and I'm the strength. You will become the next mayor. No one will be able to touch you. Find a way to compensate the families and make a public excuse as to why Luke is innocent," I say without remorse.

Giving her a nod I leave her standing there with a simple saying, "Good day madam."

Exiting the building I madd my way to the town's jail.

When I arrived there I immediately entered.

"What are you doing here boy? Where are your parents? They need to discipline you for wondering off-"

*SPLAT*

Sending wind magic into the mans body and causing it to expand, the man literally exploded like a squashed bug.

Making my way through the building I killed everyone I came across whether they were workers or prisoners.

Some I decapitated, other I blew up, and for the truly unlucky I sent a spark of dark magic to slowly consume them.

The place was a hell hole.

After getting all my anger out I sent waves of dark magic to turn the blood, guts, and human body parts into nothingness.

Turning the corner to Luke's cell I think to myself, 'Hearing all the screams I bet my dearest brother is terrified.'

Yet when I arrived in front of his cell I found him... asleep.

'Of course he's a deep sleeper. Well at least I don't have to explain myself,' I say annoyed and relieved at the same time.

Using water magic I splash him in the face.

"Wake up Luke it's time to go home!"
