"Huh? Ah, just five more minutes," Luke said sleepily.
As soon as those words left his mouth the anger that I had just attempted to get rid of resurfaced.
Not even a second passed before Luke suddenly jumped up.
His body was covered in goosebumps as he launched himself forwards.
'Opps I must have let out some of my killing intent,' I say sheepishly.
'Well that's a good thing I guess, because now he is up.'
"Noah? What the fuck are you doing here?" Luke asked when he saw me in front of him.
At the sight of me he relaxed due to assuming I wasn't a threat.
'You know the personalities of the people I actually need are so dumb that I think the universe is screwing with me. It's like their saying "ha you can't kill this person so I'm going to make them so annoying that all you will think about is killing them."'
"I'm here to take you home!" I said happily returning to the fake disguise that I have to portray.
"What the fuck do you mean you're going to take me fucking home? Are you so much of an idiot that you've turned blind? IM IN A FUCKING JAIL-"
*click*
Luke tried to shout before getting cut off by the door unlocking.
Using simple wind magic I freed him as if it was nothing.
Smiling I replied, "See now we can go-"
"Where's mom and dad?" He asked cutting me off.
'This kid... I swear I need to make a "to be killed list"! That way I can help the world by removing trash,' I say to myself gritting my teeth.
"Mom and d-"
"NO, no, no, for you it's Madelyn and Ralph," Luke said once again cutting me off.
"Madelyn and Ralph are at home," I said somehow keeping the smile on face.
"Why are you here then?" He asked.
'I already told you!' I scream in my head.
"To take you back home," is what I really say.
"It's not OUR house it's mine and MY parent's," He corrected me.
Feed up, I don't respond because if I acknowledge him anymore, he definitely won't make it out of here.
Instead I just smiled me tilted my head.
"Whatever, I'm free to go? This isn't some prank? And where the fuck are all the guards?" He questioned skeptical.
'Wow, he does have some brains in that head of his. He noticed that there were no guards,' I mocked.
"I don't really know, they said that you were free to go but that they had something really important to do, something about finding the real bomber? But that doesn't matter because mo... Madelyn and Ralph are worried about you," I answered making up a fake story.
"What! They found who the real bomber was?" Luke asked enthusiastically.
"I don't know," I said with a shrug.
"That son of a bitch, if they really caught the one who did it I'll be the one to kill him myself," Luke said angered.
'Well you're looking right at him,' I snickered.
"He killed Sam if I ever get my hands on him I'll make sure to get revenge for her. I'll tear him limb from limb," Luke said as he shook from rage.
'Calm down tiger it's not like you could even scratch me. Plus you puked when he heard that she died yesterday. There's no way you would be able to tear off someone's arms or legs,' I tell myself unimpressed.
"Can we go home now?" I asked
"Well I'm going to my house and your just tagging along," he said condescendingly.
'I wonder why he hates me so much it's not like he knows that I did anything to him. But he should really watch what he says or something bad might happen to him. Also he needs his mouth washed with some soap,' I say to myself.
The station was empty and barren as we exited, making it seem like everyone had disappeared, which is really what happened.
When we stepped foot outside, the town was as busy as always.
The merchants were shouting for customers and the citizens were buzzing around moving from one place to the next.
'Soon,' I tell myself, 'soon it will all be mine.'
As we made our way towards the house Luke did not say anything. Contempt with the silence I was also unwilling to start a conversation, thus I followed his lead.
We made our throughout the town minding our own businesses, uncaring of all the people.
Once we were almost home an unexpected incident happened which for the first time since I arrived really threw me off my game.
Turning the corner to one of the streets out of the blue a raging carriage comes flying past almost crashing into Luke.
Swerving to miss him, the horses leading it become startled, which caused them to panic and trip over themselves.
The crashing of the horses on the road created a bloody scene.
The carriage was flip on its side and the horses were crushed under its weight.
It was all in slow motion for me to the point that it looked staged.
After the incident where I almost lost control of myself my wind and dark magic grew by an insane amount.
With my wind magic's level increasing, so many new things were improved for me.
One of which was my senses.
Due to now being able to connect with the wind around me my senses made me inhuman.
I could hear and see things further away. But the most significant improvement was being able to fully see the event happening before my eyes.
For any normal person, their mind is only capable of making out so many details. Then, after that any useless information is forgotten.
This still applies for me and as of now any way to adjust this is above my magical capabilities. However, there is a loophole I can do with the abilities I have at the moment.
I can capture the moment something happens as if it was a photo. With this I can look at it and analyze it as much as I want before discarding it.
Of course this still plays out at the normal rate of time its just a new function I am able to do.
So, by completely making sense of the situation I learnt of its absurdity.
Not only was it perfectly planned that a carriage would be there, but I've also never seen someone travel in that way before- at least in this town. Along with the way in which it fell. The horses really were scared and tried to get out of the way, but the fact that they tripped was so unordinary that someone could tell that it was a set up.
Not only that but that fact that they fell so easily.
Annoyed that I was missing something I paused in the memorizes I had and relooked at the time where the horses fell. Looking closely, over and over, I noticed the abuse that the horses had gone through.
'Their legs were ready to give out on themselves?!' I said to myself surprised.
'The poor horses must have been traveling non stop for days. So, when Luke came around the corner and gave them a shock, their already worn out legs collapsed,' I determine.
"AHHHHHHH!"
"WATCH OUT!"
"CLOSE YOUR EYES!"
"SOMEONE GET HELP!"
Cries were being called out from the citizens and worried parents.
The scene was quite disturbing seeing the horses scream out as they suffocated from being crushed and a loss of blood. Not too mention the anxiousness the people felt for the ones who were inside the toppled cart.
"Shit," I hear Luke mumble beside me.
Intrigued with who is in the carriage and the reason as to why they were in a rush to get here; even to point to risk their safety, I say, "Oh no! We have to go make sure that they are safe."
Although I was indifferent towards the situation, curiosity got the best of me.
Jake didn't even hear my acting because he already took off to make sure that everyone was alive and well— except for the horses.
'He's all bark and no bit,' I sigh due to Luke's innocence before chasing after him.
Ignoring the deathly screeching of the horses, Luke and I arrive in front of the wreckage.
"Hurry get them out of there!" I plea.
Yet Luke makes no effort as he freezes in front of the carriage as soon as he makes eye contact with the horse's blood.
'Fuck, I must have traumatized him. Seeing the blood and knowing of the possibility that the ones inside are hurt must remind him of Sam and the other's deaths,' I tell myself annoyed and unsure of how to make use of the predicament.
'Well now that I've determined that Luke is not as strong as he shows and that he is not a threat, I need to get him to snap out of it,' I say as I take action.
Shaking Luke, I once again plea with him to help them.
However, all that I say goes right through one ear and out the other.
Luke remained locked up and stiff no matter what I did to try and get his attention.
But then, the carriage door abruptly flung open...
