Nabat Spaceport Part I

Tomas tapped his ear. "Alpha 2, what's going on with those lights?"

Paula replied after a few seconds. "Give me a damn second. The spaceport is on a separate grid."

Tomas sighed. "Alright. Just hurry up."

Another minute ticked by. Each second dragged as it was weighed down by our fatigue. All of us just wanted to crawl into bed.

Most of the team was currently grouped on the ground floor of the building. We were just across the street, South of the spaceport.

The streets around the spaceport were fully illuminated unlike the rest of the city. There were easily hundreds of guards, auto-turrets, and droids. There were even a few armored vehicles.

The spaceport itself was about a klick on each side. I had little doubt that there were a lot of freighters and even some starfighters inside.

Paula suddenly called through comms. "I'm in."

Tomas nodded. "Good. Lights out on 1, move on go. Goggles on people."

I pulled my NVGs down and switched them on. The world turned shades of green and white.

Tomas started the countdown. "3, 2, 1…" The lights in the entire spaceport went out. "GO, GO, GO!"

I swung around the corner and rushed through the open door with my blaster raised. As per usual, I was leading the charge.

I sprinted across the street. There were four openings in front of us that led directly into the spaceport. I rushed towards the one on the middle left.

There was shouting coming from inside. I peeked inside and found an elevator being pried open by whoever was inside.

Dante was mounted up on the opposite side of the entrance. I gestured towards the elevator with two fingers. Dante nodded and walked up to the elevator.

He then fired four shots through the partly open doors as I followed him in and kept my eyes forwards. There were four thuds from inside the elevator as the doors closed themselves.

Just past the elevators, I found three civilians who began to panic upon seeing the blaster fire. They were sitting at holonet terminals. I then heard shuffling around the corner to the right.

I walked quickly and swung around the corner to find two guards on the couch. They were trying to find their weapons. With true aim, I fired two shots. The guards slumped over on the couch, dead.

Looking up, I found another five civilians who were panicking and clearly unsure of what to do. A few operators came from behind me. I pointed to the civilians. "Secure all non-combatants."

They moved in and began tying their hands behind their backs. I then lowered my rifle and turned around. Making a right turn, I moved past the other entrance as I went down the hall.

As I neared the end of the hall, a female officer rounded the corner with a blaster pistol and a flashlight. I quickly squeezed my trigger and dropped her with a flash of blue light. The sound of another two shots came from down the hall back in the holonet lounge. There was more shouting from deeper inside.

I moved up and rounded the corner. There was a desk that stretched from wall to wall. On my side of the desk, there was an officer cowering in the corner. On the other side of the desk, there were several confused civilians.

I aimed at the officer and shouted. "SHOW ME YOUR HANDS!"

The officer raised his hands and closed his eyes. He was trembling in fear.

As I was about to walk over and cuff him, two officers popped up from behind a similar desk on the other side of the hall. They were holding blasters.

They quickly shot at me. I removed my left hand from my rifle and pulled a lightsaber to my hand. Upon activating it, I twisted my wrist and reflected the two blaster bolts. Both officers crumpled to the ground.

I put my lightsaber away and counted 11 civilians in the hall. "GET AGAINST THE WALL AND KEEP YOUR HANDS ON YOUR HEADS!"

The civilians quickly moved, bumping into each other in the act. Fortunately, they all complied.

I lowered my rifle and turned around before raising it once more and moving back down the hall. As I neared the holonet lounge, I was able to see beams of light from flashlights and heard shouting about the lights being out.

Tomas then spoke through comms. "Cover your eyes."
