54 Chapter 51: The Yinchorri Uprising Episode III

[Fellwe Sector, Yinchorri System]

(3rd Person: POV)

Exiting hypersace, the three Consular-class cruisers of the Jedi taskforce Van was apart of, arrived in the Yinchorri system.

After a five day trip.

The moment this happened inside of his own vessel Van's entire body tensed up.

For he knew what was about to happen.

Five minutes after the three vessels arrived in system, their scanners lit up. Showing the pilots of all three cruisers, who were master's Tiin, Gallia, and Giiett, respectively, that they had multiple Yinchorri starfighters closing in on their position.

"We've got fighters, closing in fast." Master Tiin relayed over the comm system of his vessel.

The second after he did so several Yinchorri starfighters began firing at it.

Most of their shots hitting the vessel, causing it damage.

The same thing happening to master's Gallia and Giiett's vessel as well.

For the three Consular-class cruisers had no weaponry to speak of. They were completely unarmed, and thus at the mercy of the Yinchorri.

Master's Tiin, Gallia, and Giiett started taking evasive actions with their respective cruisers, but without any weapons to fight back with they were losing ground quickly.

Evading another round of fire from the Yinchorri starfighter's master Tiin tried to look for a way out of the way situation.

As he did so Van entered the cockpit and took a seat in the co-pilots chair.

"Knight Sunrider, what do you think you are doing?" Tiin asked him.

"Master, focus on the enemies." Van replied. Not saying anything else before going to work on the controls in front of him.

Master Tiin really wanted to continue the conversation, but he knew Van's words to be true so he went back to evading the Yinchorri's attacks.

While he did Van established a comm's link with the other teams vessels.

"Master's Gallia and Giiett, this is knight Sunrider. As you can see the Yinchorri have us outmatched and outgunned, as such I think a retreat is in order." Van spoke.

"What, are you insane, knight Sunrider?!" Tiin shouted.

Just after he did so the entire cruiser shook violently, for a Yinchorri starfighter had nailed them wit a clean shot where their deflector shield had completely failed.

Turning towards master Tiin Van gave him a crazed look. "Crazy, no I am not. What is crazy is continuing our mission like this!" Van shouted. "We have no weapons and the Yinchorri have numbers on their side. Even if we make it to the planets in the system we were assigned to investigate in hopes of finding their secret command center, do you really think we'll make it that far with how fiercely they are attacking us right now?! We need to retreat!"

Master Tiin was about to retort Van's words.

But before he could both master's Gallia and Giiett spoke up.

"The young knight is right. We will do no one any good if we are blown into smitheerens." Gallia said.

"A retreat is our best option. Lest the republic loss fifteen more Jedi to these Yinchorri." Master Giiett spoke.

Hearing the the pilots of the other vessels, and his fellow Jedi masters support Van's idea, master Tiin lost any words he was going to say to Van.

Instead he said something else.

"Ok. Let us leave, now." Tiin spoke.

Master's Gallia and Giiett agreeing with his words.

All three pilots in agreement they worked to maneuver their cruisers until their navigation computers could calculate the jump back into hyperspace.

It was touch and go, but at the last second all three cruisers managed to make the jump to lightspeed, escaping the system.

Now having a better idea of what the Yinchorri are capable of.

[Jedi Temple, Coruscant, Galactic City]

(Van: POV)

Our cruiser, and the other two, landing inside the Jedi temple hanger I released the breathe I had been holding our entire journey back here from the Yinchorri system.

Which I am glad the master's took my advice and escaped from.

But once more, we should've never been in that situation in the first place.

Yet because of a bunch of Bantha Dung we were.

Though I am glad everyone made it back here in one piece. That's all that truly matters to me.

So even if someone sees fit to punish me for my actions I don't give a kriff.

I feel no regret, and would certainly do it again.

Standing up from the cushion I was seated on in the common area of the ship I headed for the ramp to disembark.

Master Windu happening to be doing so at the same time as me.

Which I did not like.

Because ever since my actions in the Yinchorri system five days ago he's been giving me the silent treatment, and I've caught him glaring at me.

If he has something to say to me I'd wish he'd just hurry up and do it. Like master Tiin did after we successfully escaped Yinchorri space.

The Iktotchi Jedi master certainly wasn't shy with his words about my behavior once we were safe from being blown up.

But like I said I have no regrets.

Especially since my behavior saved his ass.

So his dressing down went in one ear and out the other.

Windu and I reached the bottom of the ramp at the same time. When we did he turned to face me.

"Knight Sunrider." He said.

"Yes, master Windu?" I asked him.

"I just wanted to say, it seems I was mistaken before." Windu spoke.

"Huh?" I asked.

"Before we left for our mission you warned me of the dangers the Yinchorri might pose. Yet I did not take your concerns seriously, and in the process I almost got you, myself, and our other comrades killed. So in that regard I wanted to say I was mistaken." Windu explained.

My brain short-circuting and getting the blue exe, screen as he finished.

'Mace Windu apologizing, and admitting he was wrong. Now I've seen everything.' I thought.

"Well, much thanks master Windu." I told him. "But what is done is done. Let us now focus on the future, and stopping the Yinchorri before they do any more damage. To both us, and the Republic."

"Yes. It is as you say knight Sunrider." Windu replied.

He then continued on his way.

While I did the same.

I got ready to head to my room here at the temple.

But before I could Komari and Yennali caught up to me.

"Hey Van, you okay?" Komari asked me.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Everything still where it's supposed to be." I told her.

"Haha, very funny." Yennali said dryly. "But seriously, are you okay?"

"Yes. I am completely fine." I replied. "How about you two?"

"It'll take more than that to get rid of me." Komari spoke.

"I am fine as well." Yennali added. "So, what do you think our next move will be in regards to the Yinchorri?"

"Not sure." I said. "I mean I know what we Jedi, and the Republic, should do. But wanting something and it happening are two very different things. Though after the experience our taskforce had in the Yinchorri system I think what I want will likely come to pass." I explained.

"Military intervention?" Yennali asked.

"Military intervention." I firmly replied. "I think both of you know me well enough by now to know I am not one to go looking for a fight nor suggest such measures lightly, but given all that's happened it's what needs to be done. I just hope the Republic and high council comes to the same conclusion before the Yinchorri become any more emboldened."

"Heh." Komari snorted. "Don't hold your breathe Van. Neither of those groups is known for quick and concise decisions."

"Well who knows, they might surprise us this time. I mean master Windu just apologized and admitted he was wrong to me so you never know."

"Wait, wait, wait, did you just say master Windu apologized, and admitted he was wrong?" Komari asked in utter shock.

I didn't reply and instead simply gave her a knowing smirk in response.

That was all she needed to get the answer to her question.

Which left her, and even Yennali, completely and utterly speechless.
