53 Chapter 50: The Yinchorri Uprising Episode II

Standing around the holo-table in the temple situation room we were currently using, I listened as master Windu explained our gathered groups overall mission.

We were going to be heading for the Yinchorri System to follow up on reports we had received from the Galactic Republic about the Yinchorri species taking aggressive actions toward neighboring systems.

"That is all, are there any questions?" Master Windu asked us, after he finished explaining our mission.

"Will we be receiving any support from the Republic on this mission?" I asked.

"In what way do you mean, knight Sunrider?" Windu asked me.

"I mean in the form of an armed escort, or at least the aid of a few Judicial Forces ships to investigate the Yinchorri system and the overall situation there." I explained.

"No we will not." Windu replied.

"Then I suggest we request and secure such aid before leaving for this mission." I spoke.

"Knight Sunrider, we Jedi are keepers of peace. Taking such actions would defeat the purpose of our mission to the Yinchorri system, and is not necessary." Windu replied.

"Well master Windu I respectively have to disagree with you. Considering what the Yinchorri did to knight Naeshahn, and her Padawan Ebor Taulk." I spoke.

They mutilated their bodies, and literally left them on the door step of the chancellor himself, right here on Coruscant.

The fact this didn't spur the Republic and Jedi into taking a harder stance against the Yinchorri from the beginning of this incident really kriffing amazes me.

Even if these events are all part of the Sith Grand Plan, in this case the Republic and Jedi literally shot themselves in the foot.

"Knight Sunrider, it is very regrettable what happened to knight Naeshahn and her Padadwan. An incident I take full responsibility for, but what you're suggesting is not necessary. We Jedi will be enough to handle the situation." Windu told me.

"And how to do know that, master Windu?" I asked him. Ignoring the glare he started to give me after I did. "We have no idea of the true capabilities of the Yinchorri at this moment. Yet here we are, about to head into their system with minimal forces and minimal support. That is not the way we should be doing things. Considering what little intelligence we have to go on."

"Knight Sunrider, you would do well to watch yourself." Windu warned.

"Why should he?" Komari asked. "I happen to think knight Sunrider has a point." She said. "I don't know about everyone else here, but I certainly don't want to end up like the last pair of Jedi who went to the Yinchorri system."

"Master Vosa, what you and knight Sunrider suggest would take too long. We must act now, before things escalate even more than they already have. It is our duty as Jedi, protectors of the Republic, to do so." Master Tiin spoke.

Having taken master Windu's side in this matter from what I can clearly see.

While Komari was standing with me.

Everyone else remained neutral, and simply observed the situation.

This situation lasted for a few moments before master Windu made his stance in the matter absolutely clear.

"Enough of this. Knight Sunrider, master Vosa, you two have voiced your opinions and concerns and we have all heard them. But the mission will proceed as originally planned. So unless you two would like to be exempt from it, then I suggest you come to terms with this quickly." Windu spoke.

His tone of voice leaving no room for debate.

Which I desperately wanted to do.

I wanted to scream in his ears how wrong the actions we are taking are, and shake that bald head of is so it would get to his brain. But I restrained myself. For I did not want to get kicked off the mission.

Since I know what the Yinchorri are capable of, and there is no way I'm going to let Yennali, Komari, and my other allies on this mission face them without me.

"Understood, master Windu." I spoke. Backing down.

For now.

Komari looked like she wanted to say something else, but instead decided to follow my lead.

I gave her a curt nod of thanks, which she returned.

As she did Windu began separating us into teams of three. Each one being assigned to investigate one of the three habitable worlds in the Yinchorri system, to try and find the rumored Yinchorri command center.

Which in doing so would hopefully help us and the Republic end this situation before it escalated any further.

Of course a show of military force would get the same results, but no one seems to want to acknowledge that simple little fact.

Once again, making me want to scream at the people in charge at the top of my lungs.

Moving on.

The teams were as follows.

Team 1 would consist of Windu himself, master Tiin, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and yours truly. We were assigned to the search the harsh homeworld of the Yinchorri species themselves, Yinchorr.

Team 2 would consist of master's Gallia, Koth, Tsui Choi, Fida, and finally Komari. They were assigned to search for the command center on the ocean world of Yitheeth.

Team 3, the final group, would consist of Yennali, her master Plo Koon, knight Lilit Twoseas, and her Padawan K'Kruhk, and finally master Giett. They were assigned to search for the commander center on the tiny world of Yibikkoror. Which has an incredibly dense atmosphere.

Though all our search teams are useless, since the Yinchorri command center isn't on any of the planets we Jedi will be searching, but instead located on the barren rocky world of Uhanayih, located within their system.

But once again I hope to use this situation to drive home some of my own personal points about the current state of the Jedi Order and the Republic.

I am also going to make damn sure master Giett and the other Jedi who are supposed to die on this mission survive, and keep anyone who was not supposed to die in the original story from kicking the bucket as well.

For as I said before I am going on this mission to make sure the people I care about assigned to it don't end up dying.

After Windu finished assembling the teams he gave each us a bit of time to prepare before we departed.

Using it I called all of my friends together in a training room and gave them a quick rundown of the situation.

Well those that were at the temple currently.

Nahdar and Aayla being out on missions with their respective masters.

When I finsihed Marcellus was the first to speak up.

"What if you guys are walking straight into a trap?"

"That is basically what I said earlier, but master Windu decided to simply push forward with the mission." I spoke. Sighing after I did. "Don't get me wrong. I know we must investigate and take actions to stop the Yinchorri, but considering what they've already shown themselves capable of its insane we aren't going in there without a large force."

"I agree." Kento spoke up. "This doesn't seem right."

"But there is nothing we can do, and as Jedi we are keepers of the peace so wouldn't going in with military force be wrong?" Serra questioned.

"It all depends on the situation Serra, and I think in this case the situation calls for it." I spoke. "Besides, the Jedi of old would've done what I am suggesting. The only reason we aren't now is because of the Ruusan Reformations and our own little slice of arrogance."

"Arrogance you say?" Kento questioned.

"Yes, Kento. Considering what the Yinchorri did to two of our members already. It's arrogance on our part to think they won't be able to do it again. Just because more of us Jedi are heading into the situation this time." I explained.

"Van, don't worry. I'm sure things will work themselves out." Yennali spoke.

"They probably will." I admitted. Knowing they would. "Still, there is a different and less risky way to resolve the situation. Yet we are not employing it simply because we are following the outdates rules made a thousand years ago by people, who lived in a very different galaxy from us."

"Van, are you saying the Ruusan Reformations were wrong to be established?" Marcellus asked me.

The others looking at me with focus as he did.

"Honestly I feel that yes, they were." I spoke. "The Jedi at the time fought for the Republic, even when they would not fight for themselves. Like they had done so many times before. They gave their lives, their blood, sweat, and generally everything else they had to defeat the Brotherhood of Darkness. And in the end after we Jedi, and those that followed us during the conflict, prevailed what did we get in return? A set of rules that forced us to give up tools we used to protect ourselves and the Republic itself."

"But the Republic gave up those same things during the Ruusan Reformations as well." Kento pointed out.

"Not entirely. They still have the Judicial Forces. Meanwhile we Jedi can't even wear armor into battle anymore. A thing we did for centuries." I replied. "Listen, I am not saying I want the Jedi to become an army or anything, but it would help if we had some of the things we lost before the Reformations." I explained.

Voicing my true feelings on the so-called Ruusan Reformations.

"Wow Van." Serra said.

"You've given this a lot of thought haven't you?" Marcellus asked me.

"Yes. Yes, I have." I replied. "So anyway, all of you watch yourselves while we are gone. The Yinchorri mutilated two Jedi and laid them dead practically at the feat of the Supreme Chancellor himself here on Courscant. There's no telling if they might try something again along similar lines."

"Van, do you really think the Yinchorri would be so bold as to attack the temple?" Serra suddenly asked me.

Her intuition frightening me a bit.

But I'm also glad that she has such intuition. It will serve her well.

"I didn't say that. I'm simply saying keep a look out guys." I spoke.

Once I did so we discussed a few more things before Yennali and I took our leave.

We then gathered a few supplies before heading to the temple hangar to meet up with the other members of our Jedi taskforce.

When we did so each of the three teams boarded their own Consular-class vessel.

Then soon we were in hyperspace, on our way to the Yinchori system.

Where we would battle its inhabitants with our very lives on the line.

A/N: Hope you enjoyed this chapter.

I'll try to get Van and his friends/allies together as much as possible.

Namely so he can lay the groundwork for his own order. Like he did in this chapter.

As for his opinions on the Ruusan Reformations, they are my own. But I won't go too far into that.
