Underlining Mystery

As we rushed over, we noticed Darleen was having a panic attack. Pointing to a spot in the floor, that seemed empty. But upon further inspection you can see that a small spider could be seen crawling across the floor. Claiming its territory by owning the floor and instilling fear in those who see it. As I become full of discust and fear,

Jack just snickered. Promptly stomping on the tiny insect. "Is this really what you're getting me all worked up about?" He harshly asked Darleen.

"Well its not my fault im scared of spiders!" She sharply replied. Matching his cold tone back.

Jack only sighed, "Honestly Allen, your supposed to help in these situations. You're her guardian." The frustration can be heard in his voice.

"Look! Spiders creep me out too!" Allen replied as he quickly raised his voice. "Honestly I'd rather have more in common with her than to be her polar opposite. Helps us get along way better." He snickered.

Jack didn't say anything but look at him with empty eyes.

"Atleast I'm better at getting to know Darleen than you and Zoria!" Feeling confident he added, "I bet you don't even know her favorite color!"

Jack then rebutted, "Do you know Darleen's favorite color?"

Caught off guard by the question Allen then said, "That's not the point!" Regaining his composure he noted, "Honestly, have you tried to make friends?"

Jack only frowned at the question and stormed out of the room. Allen, who for the most part teases Jack, had a solemn look.

"I wish he'd just try to make friends instead of just being content with just me.." Allen mumbled.

"Hey!" Hannah yelled.

" Hurry up and get me that popcorn already!" She demanded.

"But there was a spider!" Darleen angerly replied.

"So?" Hannah questioned, " what does that have to do with me?"

Frustrated Darleen begins to argue to Hannah about her fear of spiders which woke up Carrie. Who was happily sleeping in her sugar coma before the rude awakening.

Concerned though, Allen follows Jack, preparing to talk to him about his attitude, he gets cut off before he could start.

"Allen..I'm about to put a lot of unessessary trust in you but can you try to protect Darleen and Zoria?" Confused and taken aback by the request. Allen almost couldn't find words through his confusion.

"What do you mean? That's your job, to protect Zoria." Jack looked at his friend. Looking right into his eyes to show how serious he really was.

"Not anymore. I'm not just gonna sit here clueless of what's truly happening with our system."

Shocked to see his friend actually mean this. Only one thought actually came out of his mouth,

"How..? How do you plan on going back? Tyler isn't here to take you!"

Jack was just silent once again. He then held up one of the devices that Tyler uses. It was a small, small enough it could fit in your palm. Only having one main button in the center of its overall circular design.

Allen, once realizing he can't stop his friend, stops trying to fight him. I then walked over to see if the two were okay. Upon walking up, I see Jack holding the device, and I couldn't help but to ask what it was. Jack then changing his stare from Allen to me, unwilling to answer any questions. Only muttering the words, "I have to go.." And quickly leaving the room Allen turns to me.

"Maybe he'll listen to you!"

Confused I asked, "What are you talking about?"

Allen then added, "He won't listen to me at all. He doesn't have any real respect for me, but the way he looks at you. Makes me think he has some respect for you." He paused awaiting for my response.

"Well he has listened to me before..but what exactly is he trying to do?" I pondered.

"There's really not that much time to explain!" Urgency laced in his voice.

I understand that this seems to be a dire situation of some sort. I then rush over to catch up with Jack who's on the backyard porch, trying to use the device he was holding. Jack seemed to be too invested into how to operate it though, to even notice Zoria was right behind him.

"What are you doing?" Zoria asked as she watches, trying to understand what he is trying to do.

"Don't worry about it. You should go play with your friends." He insisted.

Not accepting that answer I kept pushing, "Well I demand that you tell me!" I pressured.

Jack just sighed once again, "If you really want to know.." He turns around presenting the object to me. "It's a portal device to my world and once I figure out how to use it, I'm going back to my home."

"Well, Take me with you!" I then demanded again, knowing the fact he'd be too stubborn to be convinced to stay.

"No, and don't follow me either. I need to know what's going on back home, and this doesn't concern you."

As he fiddled with the little device a portal appeared before us. But something seemed to be coming through it.
