On the morning of the next day, Su Xiqin rushed to work after dropping Little Milk Bun off at school. She wasn't in for long before Mo Xigu's secretary phoned in and asked her to head to the CEO's office.

Su Xiqin knew that Mo Xigu probably wanted to ask her about the collaboration with the Zhuosheng Corporation. She thought for a bit and stood up, but just when she left her seat, the cell phone that she placed in her drawer suddenly rang.

She paused her steps as she took out her cell phone from the drawer, freezing a bit when she saw the caller ID; she then picked up the phone call.

"Father," she said in a soft one; it was a call from Mo Jinghan, who was Mo Xigu's father and her father-in-law.

"Xiqin, bring the kid back home for a meal this Saturday." Mo Jinghan's deep voice came through the phone.

Su Xiqin had mixed feelings about Mo Jinghan as he had treated her fairly and cared for her out of politeness; yet she still disliked going to the Mo Family Manor ever since her mom left that place with Su Xixue, her little sister. She never wanted to go back to that place.

"Father, I need to work overtime this Saturday. We need to get the collaboration with the Zhuosheng Corporation, so I need to get things ready." Su Xiqin tried to talk out of it without much emotion.

"Xiqin! I know you dislike coming back because your mother and your little sister left, but Xiqin, you can't blame that on me."

"Father, that's not the reason," Su Xiqin still answered without much emotion.

Maybe Mo Jinghan was used to Su Xiqin's cold attitude, so he didn't force her further as he said, "I just miss Jintian."

Having mentioned Jintian, Su Xiqin felt guilty as Mo Jinghan didn't know that Jintian wasn't his grandson. She wondered how Mo Jinghan would feel if he learned Jintian's identity, especially since Jintian weighed so heavily in his heart.

Mo Jintian hung up the call on the other end, while Su Xiqin held onto her cellphone that was beeping, blanking out.

…

Su Xiqin walked into Mo Xigu's office when he had just hung up a phone call, and he asked immediately when she came in, "Su Xiqin, how was the meeting with the Zhuosheng Corporation yesterday?"

After what had happened yesterday, Su Xiqin seemed to have a colder attitude as she said indifferently, "Didn't get to meet them."

Mo Xigu's expression instantly hardened. "I said that we need to get this collaboration with the Zhuosheng Corporation. If we miss this chance, then all the losses will be your responsibility."

"Then how do you want me to be responsible?" Su Xiqin stared at him and asked fearlessly.

Mo Xigu narrowed his eyes and stood up abruptly as he leaned over with his hands on the desk. "I don't care what method you use, but we need this collaboration to work. Or else, I will bring the kid back to the Mo Family immediately."

The threat made Su Xiqin narrow her brows. "If it wasn't because of you chasing after me on purpose and not letting go, you think I would've missed the appointment time?"

"That I don't care, but whatever you do, you need to secure this collaboration."

"I'm not God, not to mention that they were very displeased because I was late. It's almost impossible to get them back." Su Xiqin stared at the man.

She actually had another idea in her head, but she had to be like this so that there might be more cards on the table for her later.

However, because of this, Mo Xigu felt more stressed, and he stared at her with his bloodshot eyes.

"Aren't you good at seducing men? I'll allow you to do whatever you want this time." Mo Xigu sneered as coldness flashed across his eyes.

Pain wasn't enough to describe the heartache Su Xiqin had just felt. She stared at Mo Xigu and suddenly started to chuckle so much that she hunched over.

It was just that her laugh was a mixture of mockery, sorrow, and loneliness.
