He Never Said It Back

"I know," Jordan said. He looked up, his green eyes soft and dark, staring into mine. "I know about what happened between you and… him," his jaw clenched.

I drew my brows together. "You do?"

"Madison told me."

"Oh," I breathed. My eyelashes tickled my cheekbones as I glanced down at our interwoven fingers. Jordan's thumb was brushing the skin on my hands mindlessly sending tiny ripples of pleasure up my arm. "What else did she tell you?" I asked, trying not to focus on that feeling.

"She told me how you— what he meant to you and how he betrayed your trust and how crippled you were after…" his voice trailed off.

"Yeah," I bit at my lower lip and raised my eyes. "But it was a long time, Jordan. I… I've moved on. It took me a while… a long while, actually," I chuckled dryly, "but I came out of it. Whatever feelings I had for Max were long gone before all of this even happened."
