Chapter 21: Training (1)

~Jack POV~

*Vroom*

Taking a Bullhead to Patch with the Rose or Taiyang family was certainly an eventful experience to say the least.

But I haven't explained much to Ruby and Yang yet about my Gamer ability yet as I would need to rely on them in the future, but I was simply in awe during the trip to Patch during the nighttime viewing it all.

"All passengers are now entering the general area island of Patch!"

Listening over to the pilot as he drives the airship, I oversee the island of Patch as Ruby taps my shoulder while the two blonds look at me, "Here we are in Patch. I bet it must be weird seeing new places because of your amnesia, right? You even look like me when I get my hands on a new weapon."

Smiling at her with a simple nod as I replied a bit embarrassed about the whole thing with some honesty in my words, "Yeah… it's kind of feels like I'm in a fantasy-like world for the first time after learning a lot. Guess my common sense is somewhat… gone I guess?"

The rose family frown at that as they already know about my 'predicament' as I simply glance at the island like a little kid.

I just can't help it can I?

Signal Academy is in full view already knowing is a primary combat school located on the island of Patch, in the Kingdom of Vale.

Nothing wrong with sightseeing at the night, right?

It's just beautiful out is all.

*Thud*

Finally dropping off from the flight and paying the piolet I began to follow Taiyang home according to Tai as I couldn't help but speak out my mind, "Got to admit it has a homey feeling vibe here must be safe enough to keep this atmosphere. Man, maybe I should live here when I have the chance. Probably getting enough Lien to be able to pay for a home here."

"Hehe."

Tai laughed at that as he responded to my words for the island that I described Patch, "Yeah mostly everyone in Vale feels like that here in Patch. Of course, that is if you don't mind the Grimm wanting your life that is. But otherwise mostly correct."

Now then I follow Tai on this path, and I would be able to enter the forest here.

Although the Grimm in the area makes it hard for some people but not impossible.

Taking some careful glances around the area on the sight for Grimm in the nighttime it was when Yang ensured me nothing to worry about, "Whoa their tiger. Don't expect any Grimm to come out in the middle of the night. We have Huntsman or Huntresses that takes care of Nightshifts if the Grimm are too feisty in the night."

Blinking in somewhat surprised I laughed a bit embarrassed but that was when Tai replied to everyone in a thoughtful tone, "Well that is true Yang it doesn't hurt to be cautious. Grimm can be very aggressive and predictable, but the danger is there. Nothing wrong with being cautious though."

"Oh…"

Simply replying with an oh was enough to get the gist of the situation as I followed simply taking the scenery.

Following the path, for a while, I began to finally make our way to Yang's home as she explained to me her home in a grand over-the-top manner, "Now then Jack welcome to our humble abode! The place where I the great Yang with my cute little sister Ruby live along with our dad Tai here in the open woods!"

"Ugh… Yang…."

"Sigh… Yang you really needed to word that better."

The family relatives groaned at that as I simply nodded as I replied to Yang's explanation, "So… beware of serial killers with a hockey mask. Got it."

"Ack…!"

Yang, did a spit take at that as Ruby raised an eyebrow at me as she spoke to me with curiosity in her tone, "How did you jump to that conclusion?"

"Scary camp movies."

"Oh…."

"More specifically with hockey mask killers in a wooden camp or home."

"Ok then."

"Ruby that doesn't explain anything!"

Laughing at the two arguing about it Tai gestured for me to show them around their home of theirs.

The house is a two-story log cabin with what appears to be a sheet metal roof in dull red. The interior of the home features wooden walls and floorboards throughout the house. There is a small wooden porch with a vertical post railing along one side of the home.

Like that Tai invited me inside their home as I began to observe this place I was somewhat curious about how the MC of their own stories lives in their homes.

The center of the living room is dominated by a light green rug, with a dark green couch and matching chair and a wooden coffee table centered on the rug. Between the couch and chair is an end table with a lamp on it, and at the other end of the couch is Zwei's dog bed.

But no Zwei in sight?

Maybe his sleeping elsewhere then?

At the end of the rug is a wooden TV stand with a holographic projector lying on top of it and a potted plant at one end. On the wall behind the TV, the stand is a doorway leading to the kitchen, a large portrait depicting a night scene, and a shelving unit containing numerous books.

To the left of the couch is a large brick fireplace with small pictures on the mantle and a large landscape featured above the grate. To the right of the couch is a corner staircase leading upstairs, with the door to a cabinet and a pair of small landscape pictures underneath.

A low bookshelf and another green rug lie along the wall at the end of the staircase, topped by another lamp. A trio of landscapes is vertically stacked on the wall at the bottom of the stairs.

Behind the couch is the front door. A barrel is tucked in the corner of this wall, next to the fireplace. There are at least three windows in the room, all hung with matching green curtains.

After viewing the living room Tai showed me the kitchen next.

The kitchen is a large room that also doubles as the dining area. It is accessible by a doorway leading from the living room.

On the wall to the immediate right of the door is a shelving unit containing various books and another doorway, with a small landscape painting tucked away in the corner. A shovel can be seen leaning against this wall as well.

In front of the archway are a large yellow rug, a mid-sized wooden dining table decorated with a matching yellow table runner and a green bowl containing various fruits, and a pair of chairs with green cushions.

A landscape decorates the wall next to a large window behind the chairs on the wall opposite the archway, with cream curtains, next to a door leading outside. A coat rack is attached to the wall on the other side of the door with two coats hanging from the hooks.

The far end of the room contains numerous benches which wrap around the outer two walls. A large stove sits in the middle of the benches on the side and a sink occupies the center of the other side.

Both are directly beneath a window, though only the stove window is curtained. The wall behind the sink is decorated with a brick-style splashback and also supports five overhead cabinets. A drying rack sits on the right side of the sink. A large refrigerator is tucked in the corner against the wall opposite the sink.

Looking around I can see they have a really great home here.

Tai then asked Ruby to come down as he gave her a mission for her to do she saluted, "Since it's already late Ruby can you show Jack to the spare room, we have for the time being? I need to start cooking with Yang for dinner soon. Is that alright sweetie?"

Ruby nodded happily as she dragged me away from the living room as asked me to follow her dragging my arm, "Yes general dad! Come on Jack I'll show you to our spare room! Oh! We could probably make some weapons for you, right? I recall you don't have any right?"

Well…

Yeah, she has a point on that one.

Nodding my head in agreement responding to Ruby as she has a hint of excitement on her face as I replied back to her, "Well I do need a weapon. Although I'm not sure which one I would prefer. Maybe some Gauntlets would do for close range perhaps… Maybe I need more time to think."

"In that case how about a Scythe then?"

"Last I check I don't have any mastery with a Scythe so… no…?"

"Ah phooey."

She shrugs at this as I enter with her to the spare room she tries to find.

Since Tai knows my Semblance, I plan on explaining to Ruby and Yang about my Semblance being <Fusion> for the time being but hopefully, I can tell them I'm [The Gamer] in the future when I know to fully trust them.

After all, can't let that Party System go to waste.

At least with <Fusion>, I can get away from unwanted questions from them saying I copied it when I created the skills.

The only reason why I'm bothering to trust them with my Gamer ability is that I know them to a fair degree and get their help in the long run of this.

That is partially the large reason why I let the MCs that I know are good be trusted to a fair degree.

At least till I know they are trustworthy to a degree and are too morally good is the exact reason why I can feel to trust them.

Especially during the early volumes at the very least.

But for now, I'll keep my cards close to me.

When the time comes though it will be my call to see if I can trust them or not.

Or at the very least till I know them a bit better from my own meta-knowledge.

Since I haven't completed the condition with Ruby as I view her as a friend already then the problem lies with Ruby not seeing me as one.

Fair enough considering we only met once and talked a few times that's not enough to be friends.

*Bam*

Hitting me on the shoulder playfully at this Ruby showed me to the spare room they have for him to stay for a week as I was knocked out from my thoughts.

Best to make the most I can in the week as I can.

Another bedroom is accessible from the second floor. It contains a single bed with plain bedding, a bedside table decorated with a vase of sunflowers, and a circular white rug. A large window occupies the wall next to the bed, hung with pale curtains.

Entering inside with a smile on my face I couldn't help but feel everything I did today was risky but thanks to the risk Tai agrees about keeping me here for the night.

For now, though I better proceed with things more cautiously from now on.

But now is the time to explain as I began to talk to Ruby about my 'Semblance'.
