Roxanne POV

"Come on be quick we'll be late"My dad said

I took my phone and went out of the house .

"Baby I'll miss you"Grand mother said squeezing me for the fourteenth time since I woke up.

"I'll miss you too grand mammy "She said

"Gerald take care of my grand daughter if anything happens to her I'll hold you responsible"Grand mammy said.

"Yes mom"He said

Kayla and Anna were still emotional I hugged them tightly not to cry .

"I'll call you ok"she said and they nodded and chuckled I faced grand mammy again

"Roxy be a good girl for grand mammy ok "She said hugging her again.

"Yes mammy I won't let my self get bullied like you said" I said knowing that it was impossible I couldn't fight so how am I suppose to defend myself.

"And remember ..."

"Be proud of who you are"We chorused.

"Come on Roxy let's go "My dad said and I went into the car and he also went into the car and we drove out.

Grand mammy and my friends all waved good bye and I waved back at them and a tear rolled out of my eye , it was really hard leaving your love ones behind .

Now before I continue my adventure a quick introduction.

I'm Roxanne Quinn a black girl an only child of a single parent ,my dad , he never really talks about my mother I'm nineteen and I'll be twenty very soon. I grew up in country Q a small country with black people who are loving kind and also treat each other like family.

But not every good thing last forever because I'm leaving this beautiful country, why? well it's because I got and admission to HAVANA high a big college in country K. Dad says it's good that I got an admission but he was a little worried when he heard country K , I don't know the reason but I'm going to find out , since he's scared of me being all alone in a country he decided to come along so he got a job there now here I am . I'm really going to miss this place.

The car stopped after few minutes I came out of the car and took our luggage from the car trunk and we went into the airport. Our luggage was checked and everything else before we got on the plane.

My seat for was next to the window at first I was scared as the plane took off dad wasn't sitting next to me to hold my hand, but I was feeling better later. I look at the down to see the tiny houses.

I want to leave a simple life in country K but I know that it's not possible for a girl like me because I didn't belong there I was black.

I put on my headphone and listened to songs. I didn't know when I fell asleep .

Third person POV.

After two hours Roxy woke up she noticed that she was resting her head on the shoulder of the person sitting next to her .

"I'm sorry "She apologized .

ROXANNE POV

I woke up and saw my head resting on someone's shoulder .

"I'm sorry"I quickly apologized.

"It's ok "He said he seemed cool , though he was a white guy I thought all white criticized black people . To be honest he's so cute his hair was in a undercut haircut matching his oval face and his lips were perfect pink unlike my pink lips that was darker but matchs my complexion .

"I'm Kai Chambers "He said

"Roxy , Roxanne Quinn"I said and shook his hand.

"So is this your first time going to country K "He said

"Yes I'm a bit nervous but I'll try to survive"I said and he laughed.

"Country K is a really beautiful place"He said.

"I hope so "I said

"you'll really enjoy your stay"He said.

"What of you , what did you come to do in country Q"i said

"Research it's a really beautiful country yet small"He said.

"We're one big family in country Q"She said

This trip was beginning to make sense we actually talked without discriminating each other I guess all white aren't the same .

Third person POV

After Five more hours the plane landed and they took their luggage and left the airport .

"I hope you enjoy your stay "Kai said

"Thank you"She said and smiled. He took his bag and went into a car

Roxanne POV.

I bade Kai goodbye and watched him leave and entered a car , he's a rich kid , I see I turned to see dad giving me a familiar look.

"Dad stop that I'm not doing anything bad"She said

"Come on let's go"He said and I took my box , Dad hailed a taxi and we went in and the car drove to our new house. I looked out the window , Kai was right country K does have a lot of tall building. I really couldn't believe that I'll have to school in this country , what If i get criticized for being black and I can't fight back?

I really hope I don't regret this and also I want to find out why dad was startled when I told him about me coming to country K .

Does it have to do with mom ?

The car stopped after few minutes interrupting my thoughts.

Dad opened the door for me and I came down from the car and brought out our box from the trunk . Dad paid the taxi man and he drove away .

I looked at the house infront of me it was a one to one and half story tall with inviting from porches shaded by roof over held up by visible beam and rafters. The lawn at the front brought out the beauty of the house, Dad opened the door and we went in

"Dad this is awesome"I said as my eyes scanned the house.

"Really"He said

"Yes it is how much does it cost"She said

"Not much"He said

Not much that was what he always says whenever he buys something expensive.

"it has three rooms , go pick your room would you"He said

"Sure why not"I said taking my bag to a room.

"This is perfect"I said

But it needs little decorating I opened my bag and put everything in place took some posters and hung it on the wall .

After a whole hour of decorating it now looks like a room. ¹
