Rising of the Pet System

A young man who was a slave for as long as he remembers finally gets set free into the world by a powerful devil as her servant. As named by her, he took Hades as a name and a way of life. As her hellhound unleashed on the world, she gave him a contract. The more he sacrifices for her, the more power she will grant him. What to expect? The world of Alseria is a ruthless world so don’t expect people to be just after power or be evil for the sake of evil. Each villain I wrote has a legitimate reason for his action, and by legitimate I mean something good. The MC: He isn’t a good guy neither he is evil. He just wants to get by, and occasionally ends up causing a disaster. His sense of morality isn’t like other people’s due to his upbringing and this story is about him trying to be normal. The MC Powers: He has abilities granted to him by the system, not magic. Even though magic exists and is prominent in the world, our MC doesn’t have the patience to sit and learn it. By the end game, he will have a total of ten powerful abilities (Which are addressed in the ten-chapter prologue) I decided to take the HP, MP, and SP from the system concept since they aren’t good indicators of physical capabilities. Instead, I exchanged them for visual indicators, like if the MC is stabbed in the chest, his health is probably too low to stand. I will keep a review so you can contact me easily.

Gabriella's Misunderstanding

Hades looked outside, all the wyverns have been taken down by the knights. "I was late…at least got one."

"Everything into strength."

"{Limit reached in both dexterity and resilience, please increase them first.}"

"Do what you need to increase strength as much as possible!" Hades growled.

"{Stat points allocated accordingly

Dexterity: 6 => Dexterity: 7

Resilience: 11 => Resilience: 12

Strength: 16 => Strength: 17}"

The system complied and Hades smiled looking down, the world looked small from up there.

As he stopped using [Repulsion] he fell down, and he used it again just before he hit the ground to slow his fall.

Thud! He landed beside Cael and the dead wyvern, "You really dropped it down…"Cael said unable to believe it. He could remember seeing Hades leap high up but at the time he thought it wasn't real. He was almost dead after all.

Gabriella was glaring at Hades apprising his appearance, he didn't wear fancy armor nor look that strong like the stories she heard about the Valkyries.

'No, Gabriella. Those are but fantasies. Valkyries are warriors fighting vicious monsters in the harshest conditions on the lower ground. His weak and spindly-looking body is probably due to overwork or a grave injury.' She thought, 'Just look how he took that monster down despite his condition, that the might of a Valkyrie.'

"You here?" Hades glared at him and then turned around, "See you later…" He started walking away.

"Where are you going?" Cael called him.

"To kill more monsters," Hades replied with a straight face. The Wyvern gave him more favor than humans so they could prove a good way to level up.

'How noble, he's that sick and still wants to go after monsters!' She wanted to stand but her legs were still shaking.

"Idiot!" Cael yelled.

'Don't call a Valkyrie an idiot!' Gabriella screamed in her head.

"We barely managed to get you patched up, even healing magic wasn't able to heal your bloodied starving body! Are you seeking death? You need to rest for a while." Cael yelled.

'Oh, my goddess I was right, he's recovering from a wound like that? And yet he knocked a whole wyvern!' Gabriella was determined to talk to him but she just couldn't do it, her legs refused to move.

Cael dragged Hades away quickly as he felt they had just stuck their noses in someone else's business.

"Who's that brat? He dares hit you…" the bleeding knight beside Gabriella growled but she yelled at him.

"Silence…"

"But…"

"Look..." She stared at her legs, "Even now I still can't stand let alone move, hitting me like that was the gentlest and most efficient way of getting me away from the grave danger." Gabriella said staring at the wyvern's corpse.

"Even so, for…"

"Told you to silence, that man is a Valkyrie. He seems to be recovering from a grave injury which even healing magic struggles with. To him we're nothing, and the fact he pushed his sick body like that to save us is a miracle." Gabriella glared at her knight.

The knight tried to stand but couldn't, the wound on his chest was still painful. "The other man…"

"Probably a friend, helper, or supervisor. The Valkyrie seems eager to kill monsters so he is probably there to make sure he gets ample rest. From how he finished the wyvern I said he's quite a skillful swordsman or an ability user." Gabriella looked toward the gate and the guards were rushing toward them.

As the guards helped her up and took the knight to get treated. As she was taken away, Gabriella thought of asking the guards about the Valkyrie but she then decided against that. 'Better as at the church, the guards won't get informed of such a thing.'

A while later that night. Gabriella went to the church to ask for information.

'I can't ask directly, I won't get any information like that…' She approached a nun.

"Excuse me, I heard a gravely injured patient has been admitted lately. Wanted to ask if I could help…" Gabriella asked with a smile.

"High priest Gabriella, if you had just come a day earlier. That one patient was in a grave situation and we could heal him with our skills alone. But, they already left this noon and we don't know where they went." The nun said, embarrassed at their incompetence in using healing magic.

"How grave was his injury?" Gabriella asked. She was a bit said she could find him there.

"The bones of his limbs were all cracked, bleeding internally, and had his lungs and liver punctured. On top of that, he was severely starved and dehydrated. It's a miracle he survived." The nun said with amazement.

Gabriella covered her mouth in shock, 'I was right, was he bitten by a large monster?'

"But he was a bit strange…as then nun over there, she watched him sleep and fed him." The nun pointed toward another nun and then left.

Gabriella was eating her nails from frustration, 'She got to watch over the Valkyrie sleep? And fed him on top of that?' She rushed toward her.

"Excuse me, wanted to ask you about something."

The nun looked at her, "Ah, Lady Gabriella. How could I help you?" The nun replied with a smile.

"The severely injured man that you watched over, care to tell me about him? Heard his case was severe and wanted to expand my knowledge a bit."

"Of course. When he was asleep, he didn't flip around, he slept on his back like a log. Felt he was ready to leap at me had I touched him." She said.

'A Valkyrie, alert even when asleep, no monster shall sneak on him!' Gabriella though.

"So when I went to bring him food and returned, I found him latched to the window wanting to get out. Thought we were imprisoning him." The nun said with an exhausted face.

'To a flying Valkyrie, a room like that must have felt like a cage…' Gabriella made a sad face.

"And when I presented him with food, he only recognized bread and water. He even was surprised the bread was soft. He for some reason thought it must be hard." The nun said with an annoyed face.

'When going on long expeditions, their only ration is probably hard bread and water. As even jerky might attract monsters. He must have run out of rations a while ago and starving.' Gabriella felt sadder, by the minute.

"How could a man get in that condition? I would have loved had he cared about himself more." The nun sighed.

'On the lower ground, there is no rescue or care team. Probably the other Valkyries that were with him have died a noble death. Yet he managed to do the impossible and flew all the way here to the flying island. I bet that is his prime, he could flip this whole island on its head…oh goddess forgive my blasphemous thoughts. A mere human can't do that to an island lifted by your hands…' Gabriella made a strange face and then stared at the nun.

"Don't you know where did he go?" She asked.

"No, they didn't say…" The nun replied.

'Classified information? Of course, he wouldn't tell the nuns…' Gabriella made up her mind to look for him.
