Prologue X

Downstairs, Eva and Cael were awaiting Hades's arrival. The church was empty that day, light dripped in through the chiseled glass, illuminating the statue of Alseria, the goddess dominating the world.

Meow! The golden cat took a seat behind then on a chair. Cael looked at her, "We already fed you for the morning. You can play with Lady Eva later."

Click! Clap! From the shadow of the upper floor, hades walked down, stopping just before leaving the shadow. He glared down at Eva and Cael as the light fell on them.

Click! Clap! He kept walking and Cael stood beside Eva as she got ready to greet the person who risked his life to save them.

"I'm Evangeline Ginis, daughter of the esteemed…" As she was speaking, Hades walked past her without giving her even a glance.

"Hey, you…" Cael turned toward him enraged, even if he saved their life, disrespecting his lady like this was…He saw Hades patting the cat.

"You're safe, I'm glad you didn't get hurt," Hades said with a smile.

"Sir, care to listen to what I have to say?" Eva approached Hades with a smile. She liked cats as well and could understand his concerns.

Hades turned toward her slowly, scanning her from head to toe with his eyes. "Who are you? A devil?"

… "You're dead!" Cael started pulling his sword out.

Eva rushed to stop him, "Let me handle this."

"Ahem, what do you mean?" She asked after clearing her throat. She wasn't the most beautiful of women but calling her a devil was a bit much.

"You look like one and are wearing black clothes like one. Like the one upstairs, she even brought me food." Hades replied as naturally as he breathed.

"Do you know what nonsense you're talking about…" Cael approached Hades with an enraged face, slowly grabbing his sword.

"Told you to sit still!" Eva grabbed Cael by his hair, "Listen to what I say."

"I'm not an evil devil, I'm a cleric, something like a nun. Those clothes are official outfits. We fight devils and monsters" Eva said with a smile.

"Evil? Devil? Who said that? One saved my life and the other gave me food. So you're the bad guys?" Hades clenched his fist ready to kill.

Cael felt his blood lust, Hades wasn't joking. CLING! He pulled his sword and stood to protect Eva. "Lady Eva, this man isn't joking around."

"A devil who fed you? The one upstairs is a nun as well, aren't you confusing us? I'm sure the one who saved you isn't a devil as well." Eva said looking at him from behind Cael.

"Not a devil?" Hades looked confused for a moment, He glared at Cael clearly for the first time. 'Hold on a min, isn't he the one who stole my kill?' the gears in Hades's brain started turning rapidly.

"Yeah, I'm not a…" Eva smiled, thinking she was getting to him but he interrupted her.

"You're with the bastard who stole my kill!" Hades glared at him clenching a fist, "Give me my favor back!"

"You're still on about that? Have you even told us your name, want me to kill you as a nameless?" Cael growled.

"Hades. Makin Hades! Become my favor!" Hades growled, Eva wasn't able to talk sense into them no matter how much she yelled.

Thud! Each of them charged. Cael swinging down and Hades going for an uppercut.

DING! DING! DING! They heard a loud bell ringing, and then a man shouted from the outside.

"Monster alert! Monster alert! A Wyvern attack at the eastern gate, please clear the church for the injured soldiers. Monster alert! Monster alert!"

Hades and Cael froze, looking at each other. "We need to save people," Cael said.

"Why Vern? What's that? A monster?" Hades asked with a puzzled face.

"Yeah, a powerful monster. On top of that, it can fly which makes fighting it harder." Eva said.

Hades thought about it for a few moments, 'If it's strong, wouldn't it give a lot of favor?' the cogs in his brain started turning, thinking about what he should do.

Getting favor was his top priority, the more he get, the closer he get to having his cat revived. Everything else didn't matter.

Hades took off running, he kicked the church's door open breaking the lock and followed the biggest noise. Soldiers screaming.

"He ran away? No, that direction…"Cael took a moment to realize what Hades wanted to do.

"It's a wyvern, he couldn't possibly win. We have to stop him!" Eva yelled, pushing Cael to start running.

…

"Stay steady! Don't let anyone slip past the walls!" A general yelled as the wyvern swarm approached.

A wyvern, a powerful flying monster. They are about 15 feet (4.572 meters) long from head to tail and their wingspan is about 20 (6.096 meters) feet.

The monster has the head of a lizard, a snake's neck, a featherless chicken's body, and a bat's wings. The poisonous tail of a scorpion, and the eyes of a goat.

They sound like screaming goats and have the attitude of hyenas.

Those flying monsters rarely attack cities like this but this time they seem to have just chased the scent of blood.

"Hurry and enter! Why the hell did you drag them here!" The soldier shouted at the white carriage outside the gate.

"Like we have a choice!" A night in silver armor yelled from his horse. "They caught the scent of blood after we were attacked by a group of bandits. This Lady Gabriella's carriage."

"Wait, the high priest is with you?! Hurry and get, we will do our best to protect you." The soldier on top of the wall answered.

"Not us, just the lady. We won't be standing still, we shall fight!" As the carriage went inside with a single knight, the other three stayed outside to fight the wyverns.

The fight took a few minutes, only screaming can be heard from the outside.

ROAR! A wyvern managed to escape the guards and flew over the wall and into the city. It was lucky that the people have already finished evacuating the area. But there was a slight problem.

Gabriella, the high priest has stayed there to await the return of her knights and the wyvern locked his eyes on her.

The monster swooped down at an incredible speed. "Lady!" The knight jumped in front of her and to the wyvern claws instead. They were too sharp they cut right through his armor.

As blood splattered, the knight fell on his back coughing blood. "Lady Gabriella, run away…" He growled.

A soldier approached them, covered in the blood of his fallen comrade "Aren't you Valkyries, fly and take that thing down!"

"We aren't… war angels, those are busy with the expedition to reclaim the lower ground…Only the high pope have them with him…" The knight growled, "Don't wait for such a miracle to happen, those people are way above to look down at us…take the lady and run…" He started coughing blood again, the claws must have punctured his lungs.

As the soldier looked up in despair, the wyvern was about to swoop down.

Running through the street, Hades grabbed a shovel that was resting on a stall wall. The people have been evacuated so no one was there to see him take it.

As he approached the gate running, he saw a blond woman standing beside a wounded chunk of metal…her knees were shaking too much it was visible from above her overly big, now bloodied white dress.

Up in the sky, a wyvern was getting ready to swoop down again.

Without stopping, Hades smacked the blond woman to the side.

"You ba…" The knight growled from his bloodied breath.

[Repulsion] BAM! With a shock wave, Hades took off to the sky.

SWOOPO! [Attraction] as the power of repulsion alone wasn't enough to get him high enough to reach the wyvern, he pulled himself toward him with [Attraction]

When he reached the wyvern, Hades swung the shovel down with all his might "REPULSION!" He screamed [Repulsion]

With a blast and as the shovel hit the wyvern's head, it shattered from the sheer force behind it.

The impact was enough to knock the wyvern unconscious and send his body toward the ground at high speed.

Thud! Thud! Thud! Cael rushed in, Taking a stance and then swinging his blade [Slash] He cut the wyvern's chest open.

Gabriella stared at Hades in the sky, her left cheek still red from when he smacked her away. "A valkyrie…"
