Xu Jingli knew that this was such a big thing to spring on someone especially one that had just watched her own ex-fiancé marry another woman right in front of her very eyes. There was something about Chen Mumu that intrigued him greatly and he knew that he needed to keep her close so he said, "I know this is an important decision, you can take your time and when you are done, you can call me."

He paused and then added, "Since you already announced to everyone that I was your boyfriend then I have to do what a boyfriend does. If you need any help, you can also call me directly and I will see what I can do!"

He took out his card and gave it to her before walking away slowly. Chen Mumu could only see his broad back as he left. She was suddenly in a daze. This was a complete stranger yet he was being overly good to her. not even her father had been this good!

 She held the card tightly in her arms before turning to leave.

Everything had been so chaotic that she did not even know where to start from. First, she needed to go to the hospital and visit her mother. She would need an urgent surgery but Chen Mumu did not know where to get the money to pay her bills.

As an aspiring actress, she had gotten a few roles here and there but those were still not enough to pay the bills.

As soon as she reached the hospital, one nurse saw her and clicked her tongue, "You are here again without the money? Look at how well you are dressed! You bought a new dress yet ypou cannot pay your mother's bills! What an ungrateful child!"

Another nurse chimed in, "She is just an ungrateful brat who does not know the value of having a parent. If my mother were still alive, I would have even sold my arms and legs to ensure she is okay!"

They continued taunting her with other nurses joining in too. Chen Mumu ignored them and went straight to her mother's ward room.

Her mother was frail and when she saw her, she started with, "I can hear them speaking all the way from here. Just ignore them and…"

"I never let what they say get to me besides, I have been getting that non-stop ever since the day that you were admitted so I am kind of used to it."

Her mother laughed. She then saw how her daughter was dressed and asked, "You went to give them hell?"

Chen Mumu laughed, "Yes. I think I overdid it a little bit so they will be salty for a while but…yeah."

Her mother laughed, "I always told you that Jiang Lei was no good for you but you insisted on being with him now look at where that has gotten you!" she feigned anger. Chen Mumu was already used to her mom's antics.

She gently raised the blanket and sighed, "Back then I thought that he was the most handsome man on the planet! No one or nothing could compare. You don't have to blame me, he truly looks good and he had a sweet tongue too!"

Before her mother could respond, the door was pushed open and a very young doctor walked in. He was also very handsome. This was her mother's doctor, Doctor Feng Du An.

Chen Mumu smiled, "Doctor Feng, you are here."

He called her Xiao Mu just like her mother called her. it was very awkward at first but after a while, Chen Mumu did not mind. She nodded.

Doctor Feng was in a daze for a while after seeing how Chen Mumu was dressed. The dress really looked good on her. He looked away in embarrassment when her mother caught him looking. He coughed and then said, "Your mother's complications can be managed by medicine for now. The surgery can happen later but be careful not to let it go for long. If everything is good she can be discharged tomorrow."

Chen Mumu truly did not have the money for the surgery right now but she would in about a week so she sighed, "I will bring her back in a week. I also don't want this to go on for a longer period. When I get the money, we will be back."

She was not embarrassed to say that she was broke. Her mother did not pressure her either. If she could manage with medicines for the time being then she would. She did not want to burden her daughter as she was already doing.

Doctor Feng gave a few guidelines before asking Chen Mumu to meet outside for some directions of how the medicine would work. She said she would meet him after her mother had eaten.

Once he was gone, her mother looked at her strangely. She put a big spoonful of rice in her mouth before saying, "I think he likes you!"
