33 Chapter 31: Games Games Games

[3rd Person POV]

"Guys! Chrono Cross is pure ART! This is a freakin masterpiece! Must play!"

"Who made the music for this? It was absolutely beautiful!"

"Final Fantasy VII is really well thought out and deep. Lots of heart breaking moments as well."

"Why did they kill Aerith?!!! Damn it!!!"

"Tifa is so damn HOT!!! I don't care what anyone says! She's my dream wife!!!"

"Team Clerith!!!!"

"NO! Team Cloti!!!!"

"Screw that! I'm team threes---!"

"LOL +1"

"+2!!"

"Why'd they name is VII? What the hell happened to 1-6?"

"Dude Metal Gear is something new! It makes you feel like some secret spy or something!"

"Sneak strategy was something I didn't know I needed."

"LOL this made me double check random boxes in warehouses now haha!"

"I can't believe V.Games had this much masterpieces mass released!"

"Yeah, I thought this would be quantity vs quality but damn!"

The mass release of the games was practically christmas come early for all the gamers. The boom re-ignited the imagination of the people in this world. The stagnating creativity started moving again.

Other game companies started taking notes and copied the format. They started developing several stories of their own, though not as deep or well thought out, it was a beginning. Some smaller game companies simply make parodied versions in hopes of joining the wave and earning as a cash grab. Some choose to hire several writers and truly attempt to make their own games.

Just like the time Ven's earth had a bloom of so many games, most being mere low quality copies or rip offs, this also happened here. While this isn't necessarily good, it at least, showed how much interest there is in gaming again.

Meanwhile at V.Games office, Ven started making a team develop GTA and Pokemon. While GTA is fairly strait forward, he wanted Pokemon to become something more. In his world, Nintendo kept holding Pokemon back. It was a massive hit on its first few generations, Nintendo was very slow in terms of innovation to the point that the franchise looked like it was an entire decade behind in terms of features, gameplay and graphics. The Pokemon titles were always a copy-paste of the previous generation, with some added 100 or more Pokemon each version. But the gameplay was never improved. The graphics, remained the same, mostly due to hardware limitations that Nintendo never seems to improve much.

Ven wanted to make the game a bit more each generation. He intended to try and improve it. Though as a first generation launch, he chose to stick with Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green versions, but instead of the game boy advance or SP look in pixels, he chose to have it in the same look as Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Saphire and intended to have the first few generations in that look. Another thing he chose to improve on was the Pokemon Battle backgrounds. He wanted to at least have the backgrounds reflect where the player was.

Ven also decided to have the online trading and battles available. But at the same time as developing these, Ven had an adjacent team work side by side with the main Pokemon team to create a full 3d version intended for VR in preparation as well.

While he generally advises teams to make a VR version in preparation only after the actual game was finished and ready for launch, he had the ones for Pokemon animated side by side with the base game so there would be consistency, as well as a lot of time to model everything in 3d. He remembered a long time ago watching the movie Detective Pikachu and thought he liked the realistic looks so he wanted those created for the 3d version. Since those would take a lot of time to model, he already had a team started.

A minor change he made though was the catch phrase 'gotta catch em all'. He chose to remove it completely since logically, one person can't take care of all that Pokemon at the same time. Most of the time, the rest are going to be stuck in storage which he didn't think was nice. So he altered Professor Oak's requirement of catching to just battling those Pokemon once in order to record them in the Pokedex. So the player isn't required to catch them all like a lunatic.

"Sir. compared to other games we launched and are making so far, this looks like it has potential to become massive. The merchandise alone..."

"Exactly why these Pokemon creatures are made to be cute looking. Well, most of them. Anyway, I want you to make sure we have several toy companies in the loop so we can have multiple merchandises. Though let's start with just stuffed toys for now and expand if the I.P. takes off."

"But isn't this 170 Pokemon a little much? Are you sure we need this many creatures?"

"Yes. And that's just the beginning. In later versions we can expand the number bit by bit. But it helps that there's a lot of variety to make that world feel alive."

"On another matter Sir, we have Mr. Cisco Ramon contacting us again. He keeps trying to request being added as a Alpha or Beta tester for the full dive project. While his original purpose was developing its base functions and overall development of the technology, he requests to be part of the game side as well. What do you think we should do?"

"That's fine, since he helped greatly on developing the tech with Hiro, you can have them both given access when we start Alpha tests for the base OASIS world. Since it's in their personal interests as well, they might have insights that could make it better."

"We've also begun testing the tastes, skin sensations, pleasure and pain simulations for it. From the looks of the initial testing, we're getting close to a proper realistic simulation. But how high are we going to set the pain simulation?"

"Leave it at maximum 30% for now. I don't want the players to be traumatized after all. We also don't know if feeling pain in game would have lasting effects so it's better to leave it at that."

"Sir, are we.....you know, going to add R18 content as well?"

"Put it in but make sure we have proper protocols to censor it for anyone under 18. I want any action deemed R18 be auto censored. But anyone deemed above 18 would be able to do such actions but only in private areas not public areas. Since the pod should do a proper scan for the player anyway, there should be no way for underage players to bypass censor protocols."

"So we have to simulate the actual feeling of sex as well? And anything in between?"

"Yes but it's not a priority. Leave it for the last part of the list. Prioritize simulating taste for food consumption in game. While people won't actually feel full by eating, at least we can make them taste cuisine that most people normally can't afford. Next should be the feeling of gravity, lack of gravity and free fall simulation. So we can do all sorts of Theme park rides as well."

"Sir this is going to be so massive! I think this indeed would change the world, even beyond just gaming."

"Of course! Also make sure we have a separate department for modeling and animating a complete human body so we can use a separate program for medical professions like surgeons in training. This way, they can make all the mistakes in game so they only make correct actions in the real world."

"Th-that's genius! I didn't even think of that sector! We'll get right on that as well sir."

After Ven's meeting, he went back to monitoring Clark's Red K escapades.

"It seems like the Kent's are almost ready to make a move so I might be stepping in pretty soon."
