Chapter 035- Talks

A Year Later-

With Xia Yuanba's extraordinary military tactics, he managed to capture all the empires in the continent except for the Divine Phoenix Empire in just a year.

It might seem like it is a long waste of time as Xia Yuanba could have conquered those empires in just a month if he used his full strength but the matter isn't that simple. The main purpose of these battles were to make the soldiers under him grow and make them used to the wars as they will be engaging with the sacred grounds very soon.

So, most of the time Xia Yuanba didn't participate in the front lines and instead just gave the troops his orders. When it was absolutely necessary for him to go to front lines, he would lower his strength to the same level of his opponent's and fight them.

And it did proof useful to him. As Xia Yuanba had to go through several live threatening battles in these wars, he managed the breakthrough the bottlenecks he was facing and advanced to the Sovereign Profound Realm.

"Your Majesty, I finally managed to conquer all the Empires. Now only the Divine Phoenix Empire is remaining. From the recent reports that I have got, they seems to have been weakened a lot. Do you want me to attack them?" Xia Yuanba conveyed his words to Ling Yun via the AV device.

"Hmmm....You are right. We should attack them since they have been already weakened a lot over the past year. But before that tell me the amounts of troops we have now? Are you confident that they will be able to handle the mid and low level members from the Sacred grounds? You should know that the sacred grounds are already suspicious of us having Sovereign Profound Realm cultivator among our ranks." Ling Yun said.

"If we do attack the Divine Phoenix city and conquer it, they will surely launch an attack against us. After all, they absolutely doesn't want a power similar to them rising up. I know we will definitely win even if they combine their strength to attack us but I want to ask you how much lower can you keep the causalities of our troops?" Ling Yun added and asked.

"I should be able to keep it between 30-40%. After the enlisting of many new army members, we have now close to a million troops. So, if we go to war with the sacred grounds, the causality should be around 30-40 thousand people." When Xia Yuanba said that number, he looked quite ashamed. Even though he is already quite used to people getting killed, it still left a bad taste in his mouth when he uttered those large numbers.

"I see." LIng Yun closed his eyes and thought for a moment before saying, "Even though the number of casualty is huge, we have to accept it. If we wait more then there is a chance of sacred grounds would launch an attack against us first."

"If we let the sacred grounds attack on our soils then it would create more casualty for us as the civilians living in my domain will also get caught in the war. So, I want to be the one to invade the sacred grounds. That way, we won't have to worry about any unnecessary casualty." Ling Yun added.

"Since your majesty said so, I will keep my troops ready." Xia Yuanba said.

"Yes, do that. And say to the soldiers that they won't have to worry about their families. I will look after them in case they dies in the battle." Since the soldiers are laying their lives on the battlefield for him, Ling Yun at least plans to give their families the basic needs if any soldiers die or gets seriously injured.

"I will relay it to the soldiers, Your Majesty. Then what about the Divine Phoenix Empire? Should we start our attack now?"

"About that, you should contact Gu Xian first. He should have already planned out a way to capture Feng Xue'er. If you both succeed in this task, then we won't have to waste our energy fighting the Divine Phoenix Empire and can directly focus all of our attention on the sacred grounds."

"I understand, Your Majesty. Then I will start my journey to the Divine Phoenix Empire today." Xia Yuanba said.

Cang Yue's Office-

After finishing his talks to Xia Yuanba and then Gu Xian, he decided to visit Cang Yue to learn about how far she has managed to handle the aftermath of the conquered empires.

"So, how is your work going?" Ling Yun asked as he took his seat in one of the available seats in the office.

Ling Yun already told his close peoples not to bother about the etiquettes when they are alone. As such, Cang Yue didn't show any formality toward him and directly said with an aggrieving tone, "How can you give me so much work to do? Now I can't even spent much time with you because of the amount of works that I have."

"Sorry about that. Someone has to take care of the aftermath of the war and you are the best person for that." Ling Yun told her with a flattering tone.

'I can't even get mad at him after looking at his handsome face.' Cang Yue thought inwardly. Alas! She could only blame her excessive love for him.

"Sigh! About the the task that you gave me, I have already some plans of how to take care of it. But it is going to take a few months at least."

"I have already done a survey regarding the people of the defeated empires. And I found that almost all the people has some kind of resentments toward us. As long as I can give them a better life than before, I should be able to erase most of their resentments. I have also prepared some propaganda that would help me regrading that." Cang Yue said after giving some thought.

After being in her position for more than a year, her character changed quite a lot. She isn't the same easy going and kind princess that she used to be. Though she still have some kindness in her heart, she wouldn't mind getting her hand dirty if she has absolutely no other choice.

"But the problems are the small groups of people that has started to band together in the name of revenge. What do you think we should do to them?" Cang Yue asked.

"You don't have to worry about these small groups of people. As long as you can make most of the people loyal to my rule, then we can deal with them. If we kill them or do anything drastic towards them now, it would only increase the resentments that the normal citizens have toward us." Ling Yun said.

"So, let me know when you manage to make the normal citizens submit to me willingly. After that, I can just kill those groups by labelling them as terrorists." Ling Yun added. For some reason though, he remembered one of the superpower from his previous life while saying the last sentence.

[AN: I totally forgot about Feng Xue'er's grandfather and great grandfather. I just checked and it seems they are in sovereign profound realm. Can anyone give me any suggestion of how I can add them in the story now?
