Chapter-4: Illusion Slime

I am nervous, being surrounded by multiple spheres of jelly is not something I ever expected to experience and I never thought that I would feel actual pressure from these creatures known as slimes.

They have not moved yet and I'm unsure if I should move first, unlike against that one goblin I killed, against these slimes I have no clear advantage..... in other words I'm not prepared.

I thought of slimes as simple and weak creatures that could be easily dealt with, I would never have even considered the possibility of being ambushed by slimes.

"Sophia, any clue on how to deal with these?"(Protagonist)

I ask because I know that if I try to jump in without at least basic knowledge I'll probably end up in trouble and even though I don't like having to ask Sophia for help, I won't put myself in risk for it.

"The slime that the user is currently facing is known as faker slime, they create light projections of themselves in order to intimidate the adversary or prey and leading them to believe they are at disadvantage. This is usually done to create an escape opening for them, in other words: the user has been fooled and the target is currently escaping." (Protagonist)

I heard Sophia explaining the situation and got confused by one thing.

"Wait, if that's the case why did it show itself in the first place?"(Protagonist)

"It most likely assumed it would be found by the user, so instead of delaying the inevitable, it decided to distract the user and escape. It's plan that worked and the user wasted time asking for the information instead of actually doing something and has now lost his prey."(Sophia)

The situation was a learning experience for me, as I saw the multiple slimes surrounding me disappear as if they had never existed in the first place.

This made me think and laugh at myself.

"Hahaha, this world is so weird..... it's what I wanted from the beginning, a world of fantasy where things were magic and even if things didn't work it would be better than my past life, that's what I envisioned when I thought of this....."(Protagonist)

"But this feels very different from what I thought, it's all so familiar yet so alien..... it's like I never read or watched all those iseakais.... This is not what I thought I wanted but somehow I think this is what I needed. I look forward to what I can become here."(Protagonist)

At this moment I was marveled by the world I now reside in, this place is like what I expected but it still feels very different.

The calm forest was now all I had and thinking about it affected me more then I ever thought it would, cause even if I didn't have much in my past life I at least had something's I could call mine, be it objects I bought or even my work.... regardless of how much I didn't like my life it was mine and a unique chance even if I'm having another one.... I don't know why but a part of me feels like it was wrong to abandon everything just because things were hard or unfortunate.

"I guess there's no point in all these feelings when I no longer have a chance to go back..... this is my world now. I better cherish my life here."(Protagonist)

This is why I rather not think about certain things, cause it never brings me the so called positive thoughts.

"I should keep searching..... "(Protagonist)

As I searched for prey again, I found a group of goblin, there were 9 goblin in total, only two had weapons while the rest was barehanded, their levels ranged from 6 to 10 and only the ones with weapons had skills besides goblin language.

Tension assaulted me as I decided to avoid contact with them. I moved silently trying not to alert them as I distanced myself. I could try and fight them but after the last time I couldn't put myself to try especially against this many.

*Sigh*

Once I was far enough I sighed in relief and sat down.

"With this kind of luck I'll never get anywhere.... I can't even find small slime.... Sophia, you really can't tell me where to find them?"(Protagonist)

"Once the user reaches level 10, some information will then be available."(Sophia)

Sophia replied to me with not a sherd of pity for me.

"Fine... I guess I have no choice but to depend on myself."(Protagonist)

Seeing no other options I get up and just as I turn around I see a green face with yellow eyes and sharp teeth standing a few inches from me.

At that moment my heartbeat accelerated and I couldn't make sense of the situation, my body froze, and my breathing became non-existent, I could feel myself heating up.

"You! What you doing here?!"(Goblin)

The goblin said to the frozen me with a warry expression.

"..."(Protagonist)

I obviously couldn't find the strength to make the words leave my mouth.

"Which village you form?!"(Goblin)

"....."(Protagonist)

"You listen? I talk to you!..... You answer!"(Goblin)

It easily started losing its patience with me, I wanted to say something to get out of the situation but what came to me was shaking my head.

"You no talk?"(Goblin)

I still couldn't get a single word out but I once again started shaking my head.

"Ok, you follow."(Goblin)

It wanted me to follow him and even though it seemed a little warry of me, I couldn't feel any direct hostility. This instant I knew for a fact that I'm no longer human, no, I already knew, I simply only accepted it now.

If I'm no longer human, will I ever be able to get in contact with the humans of this world? Does that even matter?..... Yes, it does matter but for now, I'm happy to have all the cheats and advantages I do... So not using them would be a pity wouldn't it?

My thoughts slowly reached a conclusion I needed just as the goblin turned around, I gripped my short spear with both hands and trusted it forward.

"You slow!"

The goblin mocked me as it dodged my attack as if he was waiting for it.

"You weak attack, now kill you"(Goblin)

Its smile was wicked as it turned from none hostile to complete bloodthirsty in a flip. I couldn't bring myself to attack again so I backed away.

Terrorizing!

That's the only way I can describe the scene that's right in front of me. This creature that was only ugly in my eyes instants ago now feels like a demon, I would like to say I was prepared for this but no amount of gore and horror in the stories I followed in my past life could have prepared me for the real deal.

But I have done this before, with my first win against the other goblin, I'm scared but I can take it, I won't lose.

The goblin didn't just stay still not doing anything, it came running towards me and I thrust my short spear in its direction to stop it.

But it easily dodged it and came in for a punch before I could even react.

Some blood came out of my nose as my face got punched, but I didn't let myself get overtaken by the pain. I stomped my right foot on the ground and once again thrust my short spear towards it not giving it time to dodge as it didn't expect me to react so fast.

The blood spilled on the ground as I let out a sigh of relief, because I have conquered my first proper kill.
