As she stirred, shards of broken glass rattled as they slid from her body.

The Marshaller rose, lying over white marble floor that had broken from the blast.

The windowpanes had all shattered, their glass scattering about.

Specks of dust that rained down from above because of the tremor danced and fluttered in the sunlight that flooded the corridor leading up to the surveillance deck.

Blood trickled down her left temple; she had apparently been cut by a shard of glass.

She wiped it away roughly with the back of her hand.

Her ears still hurt from the shock wave that had passed over her after she’d fell to the floor.

When she saw the sight through the broken, unhinged windowpanes, her eyes narrowed.

Outside the window, she had a view of the blown away dust and clouds getting hold of the base.
