Red Moon: Dead Future Alpha

“Alpha rogues!” I hear warriors yelling through the mind link. I sit quickly only to hear growls and the strong stench of rogues. As soon as I stand up I can feel Victor coming to the surface. I need to check on my parents and help get the women, pups, and elders to our panic room. Right before I reach the door, two wolves burst through. 'HOW DID THEY GET IN MY HOUSE' Victor growls. I try to shift, failing, as they both lunge at me. I can feel my eyes go black as Victor lets out a furious growl. “You walked into the wrong house, rogues!” I yell with Victor's voice echoing through mine. I watch both of them as they begin to snap their jaws at me when a dark shadow appears in the doorway firing a gun at me. I barely dodge it as the bullet grazes my skin and searing pain begins. The bullets are silver! Victor groans. I smash into my bedpost and hear a rib crack. Rolling onto my back, “Fucking rogues are going ––!” A scream came from my parents’ room. My head snaps in their direction. “Mom!” I yell for her. The two wolves pin me down as I try to move, despite the searing pain, to find my parents. The dark figure comes closer, dropping his hood.

Chapter 13: Where did you go?

Violet POV

I wake up to the midnight alarm, shocking me out of the very intimate dream with Vince. I need to stop falling asleep to Vampire Diaries, Vince a werewolf. I laugh to myself, my imagination is on overdrive tonight.

I find Vince passed out on the loveseat with the tv on. I walk quietly upstairs to get his present and my letter.

He is mumbling in his sleep as I make my way down the stairs, "little mate," he almost moans out. I freeze, I have only heard him say mate in my dreams. Is he dreaming about someone right now? I shake my head and place the present down on the table.

Standing in front of him I scream, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" He jumps looking around confused at what happened.

"You okay?" I laugh. He didn't talk, just stared at me.

"What?" I asked searching his eyes for a reason.

"You… you're my…" he falls off before he finishes the sentence.

"I'm your what?" Now extra confused, I sit on the couch.

His eyes land on the present sitting on the table, "you got me something?" he says pointing at the box.

"Yes, would you like to open it or spill whatever you're hiding?" I ask, referring to his silence.

He doesn't answer, just grabs the present, ripping it open to find his gray and yellow work outfit with a red whistle.

"I made sure to find the colors that would represent the giraffino in you; yellow and gray." I laugh but he just stares at it. "You don't like it, I can take it back and get you something different it's no big–"

"No, I love it. Especially the colors." he reassures me with a smile.

"Good because I was not going to return it." I replied.

"Thank you, this is already a great birthday." he says. Putting the box down and pulling me into a hug, his head falling into my neck. The contact tingles on my neck and I feel him relax.

"So," I break the moment, "I have another present for you and I think this has been on your mind as much as it's been on mine." Pulling away from him, I slide back, leaving a cushion in between us.

"What is the other present?" He asked.

"I wrote you a letter, after what you said to me a few weeks ago." I take the letter out of my pocket and unfold it. He sits back, waiting for me to keep going.

"Okay…" taking a deep breath,

"Vince,

Over the past few weeks, I have sat in front of an empty piece of paper. Figuring out what I wanted to say to you and how we were going to handle this splurge of feelings that you confessed to me. I won't lie to you; I have had feelings…"

"Had?" Vince interrupts me with a whisper.

"Please let me finish Vince." I say trying to hold back tears.

"I won't lie to you; I have had feelings for you since we went to the mall. I realized how gentle and protective you are. I feel safe with you, Kevin has texted and called me everyday, but I know that you will always have my back. Right now, with our living situations… I don't think we should act on our feelings. I don't want to upset my parents with getting involved or sneaking around and lying to them. I also don't want to lose our friendship and I don't want to ruin our working environment. Vince, I do not want to be with you or involved in any other way except co-workers and two people living in the same house.

Violet

My body shakes releasing the tears, I'm scared to look up at him. Instead, I get up and run to my room, shutting and locking the door. My phone starts to ring and I already know it's Kevin.

"What do you want Kevin?" I say through my shaking voice.

"Did you do it?" he asked.

"Yes, now will you just leave me alone?" I pleaded.

"As long as you know, you are mine and only mine. Remember I have eyes everywhere, if I so much as see you look too long. Your mom will go missing and never be found. Understand?" His words are laced with hatred.

"Yes, now leave me alone." I hang up before he can speak again.

I wake up curled in a ball and feeling like a hammer was smashed into my skull. I try to move but my body is so stiff from sleeping in the same position all night. I force myself up groaning in the process, I find some comfy lay around clothes. I don't plan on leaving the house after what happened last night.

I slowly unlock my door and peek out to see if anyone is there. The house is eerily quiet, so I take that thought and go into the bathroom. I turn the shower on its hottest setting hoping it would help my headache and relieve the puffy red eyes that stare back at me in the mirror.

The shower helped enough not look like I cried myself to sleep but the headache was still very present. I go downstairs and find no one but Vince's gift still sitting on the table. I decided waiting to see him would make everything worse, it's 11am, he should be up by now. I walk down the stairs not trying to keep quiet, I find his room torn apart. The boxes are thrown around, the bed is flipped and the desk emptied of all clothes. I run up stairs and grab my phone, calling Vince but it goes straight to voicemail. Where did you go? I dropped my phone as the tears started to spill from my eyes again.

My phone starts ringing and I grab it, hitting the answer before reading the name.

"Vince?" I ask, panicking.

"Oooo not quite sweetheart," my dad answers. "I was calling to see if you know where he is. I was calling to say happy birthday."

"Uhh" trying to make my voice sound normal, "No dad, I woke up and he wasn't home. Maybe he went out for a run and shut his phone off. It's his first birthday without his parents. I can let him know you called when I see him." I finish wiping more tears that are falling.

"Okay, I will see you in a few days." He hangs up.

Maybe he went to Zane's? Or went back home, to his real home.

I go through my contacts, finding Zane's office number and dialing. Please be there. I pray while it rings.

"Hello, this is Alpha Zane." Zane answers.

"Hi, this is Violet, I was wondering if you have spoken to Vince today? He left home and I can't get ahold of him. I am worried." I quickly say.

"Violet. Umm, yes Vince is here. He showed up in the middle of the night and asked for a place to stay. I haven't seen him yet today, would you like me to pass along a message?" My heart sinks at his answer.

"Can you let him know that I need to speak with him and to come home? Let him know my father is trying to get a hold of him as well." I replied.

"I will pass that along. Have a good day Violet." Mr. Zane says and hangs up.

he left…

Vince POV

"I will pass that along. Have a good day Violet." Mr. Zane says and hangs up the phone. I heard the plea in her broken voice, and it was almost enough for Victor to gain control.

Clearing his throat, "Alpha Vince, I don't appreciate lying, especially to your mate." His words sting.

"I am sorry for the inconvenience of my late arrival and for the lie you just told." I apologize to him.

"I will need more than an apology to explain your residency, and my Luna is eager to meet you. She comes home today from her mother's pack." He says with a wide smile. I never understood the need to have your mate close until I opened my eyes and knew without doubt that Violet was my mate.

"I am looking forward to meeting her. As for the situation, you know today is my 18th birthday," he nods with awareness, "Violet woke me up at midnight to give me my gift. Before she did that, I was already having a dream about it. Where she understood what I am and how a mating bond works. The dream was so real that when I woke up, I was so confused. When I finally realized what was happening, it was almost the exact same, down to the gift." I drop my head into my hands in frustration.

"Did you have dreams about her before you turned 18?' He sits forward, extremely focused.

"Yes, everyday since coming out of the coma. In my dream last night, she expressed having similar dreams about me. I don't know if that's true or my imagination playing on the mate bond." I answer confused at his sudden frozen expression.
