Red Moon: Dead Future Alpha

“Alpha rogues!” I hear warriors yelling through the mind link. I sit quickly only to hear growls and the strong stench of rogues. As soon as I stand up I can feel Victor coming to the surface. I need to check on my parents and help get the women, pups, and elders to our panic room. Right before I reach the door, two wolves burst through. 'HOW DID THEY GET IN MY HOUSE' Victor growls. I try to shift, failing, as they both lunge at me. I can feel my eyes go black as Victor lets out a furious growl. “You walked into the wrong house, rogues!” I yell with Victor's voice echoing through mine. I watch both of them as they begin to snap their jaws at me when a dark shadow appears in the doorway firing a gun at me. I barely dodge it as the bullet grazes my skin and searing pain begins. The bullets are silver! Victor groans. I smash into my bedpost and hear a rib crack. Rolling onto my back, “Fucking rogues are going ––!” A scream came from my parents’ room. My head snaps in their direction. “Mom!” I yell for her. The two wolves pin me down as I try to move, despite the searing pain, to find my parents. The dark figure comes closer, dropping his hood.

Chapter 14: She rejected me

Vince POV

"What?" I break the silence.

"Follow me." He quickly stands and races out the door. Following close behind, we enter the Alpha bedroom and go to his personal bookcase.

He starts to skim each book, mumbling under his breath, "Where are you?"

After scanning through three shelves, he shouts, "Found you!" excitedly, rushing back out his door. I follow behind, still wondering what the hell just happened.

Finally, after sitting back into his office chair, he opens the book and begins to read. Multiple minutes and a few dozen pages later, Zane stands and paces the room.

"What the hell is going on, Zane!" I growl out, as Victor becomes impatient, causing him to stop mid step.

"Vince, have you ever heard of the story 'The First Mates'?" he asked me, sitting down in the chair next to me.

"No." I say, shaking my head with more puzzlement.

"The First Mates is a folklore story about how the Moon Goddess created the mate bond. The story states that every 400 years, the first mates, Viktoras and Valda, will be reincarnated and find each other once again. Every life they have lived, there was a war and peace that only comes once both mates accept and share their feelings.

"I've had other Alpha's call for help with a rogue pack attacking their border portal and then leaving. The only pack in the area that hasn't been attacked is the Red Moon Pack. I don't think that is a coincidence, based on how your family was attacked." He finishes and my blood boils.

"I am going to rip Griffin to shreds. I do not understand how this old story has anything to do with my dreams," I say slowly so he can process what I am saying.

"The first sign of their reincarnation is a strong mate pull." He says, shaking his hands at me to get something to click.

"And?" I pinch the bridge of my nose in frustration.

"The strong mate pull starts with dreams and the notice of your mate before your rightful age. The dreams are to keep the human halves connected and your wolves become attached; whining at her absence, purring at contact and the need to protect. Do you understand now?" Exhausted from trying to explain, he leans back into his chair and remains quiet.

I replay his words in my head before I follow what he is trying to say. He thinks we are the First Mates?

"Zane, Violet is human, how could we be the First Mates?" I asked, leaning towards him.

"It states that one is always an Alpha or of an Alpha bloodline, it doesn't say that one mate can't be human. I can bring in the elders in my pack to see if they have heard of such a bond before, but all the information I am aware of is in that book." Zane says pointing to his desk where the book sits.

"What happens now? She rejected me, Zane. Victor is on edge and not being able to shift, I feel like I am trying to rip out of my skin." I say, grabbing at my shirt, and feeling more uncomfortable.

"Tia said that your blood is clear of all poisons. There is no medical reason for why you can't shift. Have you tried?" He asked.

"Not in a few weeks, it feels like someone is taking an ice pick in my brain and my body is on fire." I replied.

"Let me get some calls out about the first mate situation and after dinner we can go to the shifting rooms. I have rooms available for teens first shift, so they don't rip apart their room or parents house. Since you found your mate, maybe it's time to try again." He suggests standing up, and going back behind his desk.

I take my leave and go to my guest room. I pull my phone out, seeing the 3 missed calls from Mr. Beck, 13 missed calls and 23 texts from Violet.

She wants us, go back to her, Victor yells to me.

No Vic, she doesn't want to be with us, I yell back.

You are going to abandon our mate, what kind of Alpha are you? She said right now, that doesn't mean she doesn't want us later. He growls blocking me, so I couldn't argue.

I lay on my bed and open Violet's messages;

Violet: Vince, why did you leave?

Violet: Please answer me!

Violet: I never wanted you to leave, I need time. Please come home.

Violet: Vince!

Violet: Please answer me!

Violet: Please!

Violet: Can we just talk?

Her messages all say the same thing but I can't do it. After her letter, she just ran away from me, she didn't even let me talk. Victor took control, destroyed my room, and I knew she wasn't safe with me around. Alpha Zane was my only option, the 3 hour walk was good for Victor to calm down enough. I feel drained, being away from Violet and from stories told to me, it'll get worse. The bond will pull us together and the longer we are apart, Victor will become harder to control and then he will weaken.

"AHHHH," I scream out and the tears start falling. Curled up in this unfamiliar bed and staring at these foreign walls. All I want is Violet, I think while sleep consumes my exhausted mind.

I jump at the knock at the door, "Who is it?" I ask.

"It's Luna Mia." I stand up, straightening my clothes and I open the door.

"Luna Mia, pleasure to meet you after all this time." I say.

"Alpha Vince, the pleasure is mine. I apologize for being gone for so long, I was taking care of my mother." She replies with a handshake.

"No need to apologize, I understand completely. Zane has been pouting since you left. Have you spoken to him?" I ask.

"Yes, he was in his office reading a book. He was so focused he didn't realize I entered the room for almost a minute." she chuckles out.

"Do you know if he is free?" I ask, still standing in the doorway.

"He is the one who sent me to get you. He said he has some information for you. Happy Birthday by the way!" She answers with a sad smile, knowing Zane probably told her about Violet.

"Thank you." I return the smile.

We walked in silence to the dining room, finding Zane and he waves us over.

I sat down on his right, "have you heard anything from the elders?" I anxiously ask.

"I heard more than just anything. First thing, we need Violet to come here and second, we need you to be able to shift." His voice is low, so no one can hear us.

I freeze at the mention of her name, "why?" I question him.

"The elders have a way to test the theory, we need her here so they can do that. As for the shifting, it's for the same reason and we need to figure out why you can't shift." He says, digging into his food as the kitchen staff pass plates out.

I nod with understanding what he needs. I take a deep breath, staring at my plate of food.

"Eat up Vince." Mia says to me. I do not want to be disrespectful, so I do as I'm asked.

Victor's excitement to see our mate was overwhelming with the fear I had to see our mate. How am I going to get through this? I prepare myself for the call I know I'll have to make tonight. I can feel someone's eyes on me, I lift my head from my plate and find the hospital receptionist, Nina, staring at me. I don't entertain her, instead I look at Zane, "I am going to go make that phone call." I say.

I make my way slowly up the stairs towards the guest rooms when a hand stops me, turning to look, it's Nina.

"Hi, I was just wondering if you wanted to go for a walk or something?" She asks, running her hand down my arm.

"No," I say strictly. I walk away before she could say anything else, I can't stand she-wolves who don't understand boundaries. I didn't tolerate any attention I got in my pack, I was always taught that your mate is the most important part of being a wolf and to disrespect your mate, is to disrespect your wolf. Now it's time to face mine.

I take a deep breath, settling on my bed, I click her name and hear the ringing begin.

"Vince?" Her voice is quiet and shaky.
