Reborn As Blue

"Holy shit, where am I?" Completely startled, a young boy about eleven years of age shot up in his bed. He had auburn coloured spiky hair and dark viridian eyes, and any fan of Pokémon would recognise him as Blue Oak.

Getting out of bed, the boy walked over to the mirror and looked at himself, "What in God's name is going on here? This can't be real, how am I in the body of Blue?"

While he was freaking out about the situation, Blue did not notice Daisy (Blue's sister) coming up the stairs, "What are you making such a racket for? I know you are excited about getting your first Pokémon from Gramps, but can you keep it down a bit."

Not wanting to be suspicious, Blue replied, "Sorry, I've just been really looking forward to today. What time did I need to be over at the lab for again?"

Daisy seemed quite annoyed with Blue now, "How have you forgotten again? You need to be over there in ten minutes."

"It's that soon? I need to get dressed so can you leave please."

"Fine, if you didn't wake up so late maybe you wouldn't be in such a rush." Daisy walked back down the stairs and left Blue to get ready.

Still confused as to how he had woken up as Blue, the young man began to get ready to get his first Pokémon which was something he had never thought could be real.

In his original world, he was a huge fan of Pokémon and had every single one of the main games and even the side games, but he had never thought he would actually be able to experience it for himself. This made him very excited to see how his new life would go. would it be the same as in the games, or would it play out differently?

He threw on a purple t-shirt and some jeans and ran down the stairs and out of the house without eating anything.

Pallet Town was as small as he had imagined, with two houses and a lab. The buildings were regular sized as well as the lab, but there was basically nothing else there. It was surrounded by trees on both the east and west, with an ocean to the south and an exit at the north.

Blue walked towards the lab and entered through the front doors. The building had six shelves full of books and many machines that were quite futuristic. Standing behind a table with three Pokéballs on top of it was Professor Oak, Blue's grandfather.

As Blue walked over to the table, he heard the doors open once again. He turned around and saw Red had entered the building and was walking towards the table as well.

Instead of whining about having to pick second like in the game, Blue decided to actually allow Red to pick first, "Hey man, if you want to get first choice then go ahead. I really don't mind at all."

Despite what he bad thought, it turned out Red genuinely could not speak as he just nodded his head and did not say anything. It seems it was not just because Red was the player character in the original games that he did not talk.

Red walked up to the Pokéballs, and Professor Oak explained what was in them, "These balls contain three rare Pokémon that I have acquired during my journeys. I am going to give you both one of them to allow you to go on a journey of your own. I will now release the three Pokémon out of their balls to allow you to get a good view of them to make your decision."

Oak picked up the three balls and opened them one by one.

The first ball contained Bulbasaur, but to Blue's surprise it looked nothing like it did in the games. It was the same shape, and its base design was the same, but it was aqua coloured for the most part with some Azure blue spots. It had royal blue legs that had white webbed claws at the end. It had ruby red eyes with white pupils. Its ears were pointed, and it had a small midnight blue gem in the centre of its forehead. It had a large shell that was scallop seashell coloured with spikes in a random arrangement on it. It was about two feet tall which was the same as the original Bulbasaur.

"This first Pokémon is called Bulbasaur, it is a water and poison type."

The second ball contained Squirtle, once again it was completely different than he had expected. The shape and design were the same, just like Bulbasaur's had been. However, this Squirtle was maroon coloured with a completely black shell. Coming out of two holes in the back of the shell were two wings the same maroon colour as the wings. It had bright blue eyes and two red horns on the top of its head. It was around one and a half feet tall.

"This Pokémon is called Squirtle, it is a fire and dragon type."

Finally, the last ball contained Charmander. As Blue had expected, it had the same base shape, but it was definitely different. Its base colour was lime green with pine green legs and arms. Its stomach and tail were caramel brown with the patter of bark. At the end of the tail there were three large pine green leaves. It had seafoam-coloured eyes as well as silver-coloured spikes running from the top of its head down to the end of its tail in a line.

"This third Pokémon is called Charmander, and it is a grass and steel type."

Professor Oak then turned to Red and asked, "If you are wondering why the names do not seem to fit the Pokémon, it is because of the mutation which has recently started to occur in Pokémon which has caused their typing and appearances to change. So which one of these three Pokémon will you pick?"

Red thought for a while before walking over to the Bulbasaur and picking it up.

"What a good choice, that Pokémon suits you well, here this Pokéball is the one that belongs to Bulbasaur. Now, I have something else to give you as well. Take this Pokédex, on your journey you should strive to fill it with the information of every Pokémon in existence."

Red took both the Pokéball and Pokédex, said nothing, and left.

Now it was Blue's turn to pick a Pokémon.
