Someone Who I Need To Protect

—Present—. 'No one knows about this secret I deeply hold inside. Not even Ayumi knows.. but that's okay, as long as I can stand strong and protect myself... it'll make Hiro happy, ' Kaya thinks to herself as she sleeps. Throughout the incident, she learned to become a meaner person, to not let people easily go through you and drag you down.

The next day, Ayumi arrived at school. She sat in her desk and waited for friends to come by. Minutes later, Sanyu enters the classroom and looks at Ayumi, "Good morning Ayumi." She smiles, "Good morning Sanyu." He sits down in his desk, "Kaya isn't here?" She shakes her head, "No, but doesn't she usually walk to school with you?" He nods his head, "Yeah, I waited for her to come but she never did so I came to school alone."

Yuuto comes in the classroom and sits down in Kaya's desk. He looks at Ayumi and smiles, "Good morning babe!" Sanyu immediately stands up and looks at Yuuto, "She's not your 'babe!' You two aren't even dating each other!" His jealousy kicked in real fast. Yuuto smirks at him, "So? I can call her whatever I want."

"Um... I rather prefer my name..so don't call me that. And like Sanyu said.. we're not dating so please don't do things that will make people misunderstand," she tells Yuuto. Sanyu smiles and looks at Yuuto, "What I say?"

Yuuto scoffs, "Whatever." When class began, Kaya still wasn't here. Ayumi thinks to herself, 'I wish Kaya was here.. it'll be awkward hanging out alone.. especially when there's two guys fighting, I don't know what to do.'

She walks pass by some students in the school hallways, "Get out of my way, scums." They make way for her to go then goes to their classroom.

Ayumi plays with her pencil boringly. Sanyu looks over at Ayumi then glances over at Yuuto. The classroom door bursts open. The whole class was startled. "I'm here," Kaya says. Ayumi brightens up, "Kaya!" She smiles at Ayumi, "Wassup," then goes sit down in her desk. The teacher makes Kaya tardy then continues teaching the class. "Why were you late today?" Ayumi whispers to Kaya. "I slept in late, just like how you did last time," she laughs quietly. Ayumi smiles then goes back to paying attention to the lecture.

During lunch, Sanyu did not hang out with the two girls. He sits underneath the oak tree alone. Mae comes over and smiles prettily at him, "Kimura. I'm here." He looks at her and smiles, "Hello."

"I guess he's not going to hang out with us today," Ayumi says. Kaya nods her head, "Seems like it ." "Since we're done eating.. do you want to walk around for a bit?" Ayumi asks. She smiles back, "Sure." As they walk, Kaya speaks in her mind, 'Why did I become best friends with Ayumi? It's because a part of her resembles Hiro, she's like someone who I need to protect. And I'm glad to become her best friend, she's awesome!'

She smiles as she walks. Ayumi looks over at her, "Why are you smiling?" Kaya waves her hand at Ayumi, "It's nothing." "Well, since you smiled I should too!" Ayumi laughs and hugs her. Kaya feels a bit happy.

"You're a really nice person Kimura!" Mae laughs. He smiles, "Thanks. You are too." Kaya and Ayumi walks pass by them from afar. Ayumi stops walking and looks at Sanyu laughing and talking to Mae. Kaya looks at her then follows where her eye is looking at. "Mae? Talking to Sanyu? Do they know each other?" Kaya asks Ayumi. She shrugs her shoulder at Kaya's questions. 'Does he like her?' Ayumi thought to herself.

After school, the students packs their things up and leaves the building. "Sanyu you'll have to walk Ayumi alone today, I have somewhere to go," Kaya tells him. Yuuto goes over to them, "I want to walk with Ayumi too!" "Sorry! You can't! You don't walk the same path as we do," Sanyu tells him. Kaya laughs, "That's right Delinquent! Walk yourself home, Pretty Boy can do his job." He crosses his arms, "Don't tell me what to do Child."

Sanyu confusingly looks at them, "Did you two...just gave each other..nicknames..?"

Yuuto honestly answers back, "That's ri-" Kaya cuts him off and grabs him by his ears, "No we didn't! And we have to go now! Bye! Be safe walking!" She drags him out the classroom and pushes him, "Don't say anything." "What? But it's true we did give each other nicknames, is that not right?" He looks at her. "Ugh, I really hate you," she walks away leaving him alone. He watches her walk away. 'She doesn't seem to be in a good mood today,' he thinks to himself.

Sanyu walks Ayumi on her way back. It's awkward and silent during the walk. "So...How was your day today so far?" He asks Ayumi. She looks at him, "It was alright." He nods his head awkwardly. She talks in her mind, 'For some reason, I don't like Mae being there with you. I don't like that the two of you were casually laughing and talking to each other.'

He tries to break the long awkward silence and lets out a little laugh, "Aah~ today's a really sunny day isn't it?" She agrees, "Yeah, it's a really pretty day today."

Yuuto walks around for a bit and passes by a floral shop. He stops by and looks through the window, "What's Kaya doing there?" "I'd like one white rose please," she tells the shop owner. After paying for the rose, she walks out the store. Yuuto hides behind a car and watches her leave.

On her walk, a woman pushes Kaya down and threatens her, "Give me back my son from prison or else I will kill you!" Kaya looks up at her and smiles, "Why would we? He deserves that. And hearing this from a murderer's mother...It's very funny." She slaps Kaya, "My son is not a murderer! Your stupid brother killed himself because he was too depressed and didn't want to live anymore! My son tried to help your damn brother!!"

Triggered, Kaya looks back maliciously, "What? My brother killed himself? Your son tried to help? Ma'am I'm sorry but I think you need some serious f***ing help." She stands up and continuously pushes the woman with her index finger, "My brother was a innocent boy, who only wanted to live a happy life. He never gets into any sort of trouble. What can a boy with autism and depression do to your damn son?!!! My brother never even know who the f*** your son was!!"

The woman slowly became afraid of Kaya. "You're a psychotic b****," the woman said to her. Kaya yelled back at her, "That's right! I'm so f***ing psychotic I can kill you without anyone knowing!!" She raises her hand to hit the woman. Yuuto grabs her arm to stop her from hitting the woman, "People are watching, you should stop." Kaya breaks down angrily. Citizens gossips.

The woman runs away from Kaya and yells, "I hope you end up dying too!!" Yuuto irritatedly looks at the woman and tells her, "I think you're to be dead first old lady! You're on the verge of death." The woman leaves their sight. He hugs Kaya to comfort her. She cries in his arms, "Please don't tell anyone about this.. no one knows.." "Quit talking and cheer up Child," he tells her.

Sanyu drops Ayumi off at her apartment. She bows to thank him. He too, bows. "Text me if you need anything, he tells her. "Sure," she replies. He then takes his leave.
