If I could, I would forget about you!

Y/n woke up in a jolt. She slammed her hand down on her alarm clock. It's constant beep sounded like a siren splitting her head. She went to rub the crust out of her eyes. Was I crying in my sleep? She pulled back her hands to reveal damp spots on the heel of her palms. She thought hard, I can't even remember my dream. She swung her feet off the bed, stretching deep and walked over to her desk. The top of it was cluttered with her homework from last night. Y/n fumbled and pushed it all aside to find her daily planner. It was already June, her second year of high school. She had successfully established herself amongst her peers, teachers knew she was hardworking, and Y/n herself was hopeful for what the next few years would provide. It wasn't as scary as adults made it seem.

The only thing important for today is that test after lunch, maybe a pop quiz in Chemistry, got everything I need? Alright. She put all her books in a neat pile next to her backpack and made her way into the bathroom. Y/n turned on the water to its hottest setting to wake herself up more. The heat wrapped around sore bones and she melted into it. Pushing her hair out of her face she let the water race down her face and body. She tried hard to remember her dream from the night before but all it did was make her head throb and her heart hurt. Feels like my heart has been ripped out of my chest. I feel empty. Must've been bad, good thing I don't remember it.

Wrapped up in a fluffy towel, she laid down her school uniform. It was basic, but a couple different accessories spiced it up enough to imitate some sort of uniqueness. The bow that came with her uniform was wrapped into a tie shape instead, thigh high socks, her fake glasses, and a couple other favorite pieces. Y/n's desk was also a part time vanity. So after checking the time and accessing that she had enough to do her makeup she got into putting her face on. Moisturizer, where are you? Ah! Okay, prepped, primed, let's paint. Another small way to add some uniqueness to her features was the way she did her makeup and styled her hair. It wasn't until she was checking herself out in the full length mirror behind her door that the time on the clock began to mock Y/n for taking her sweet ass time. FUCK I should've left the house ten minutes ago!!

Y/n ran through the kitchen to grab some soft of breakfast but realized her hands were full of books. She looked between her arms and the snack cabinet three times. She didn't have the time to debate her situation or put the books into her bag. I'll get something out of the vending machine. She paced around the corner and into the living room, quietly saying "Goodbye Ma". Her mother was occupying the couch and in a groggy voice wished her daughter a good day. Out the door, taking large strides, Y/n went in the direction of the high school.

Y/n had caught a bus that let off to a closer proximity to the school but still required a bit of a walk. The weather was nice, and she almost had a heart attack trying to remember if she put on deodorant before she applied her perfume earlier. She looked down at the time on her BlackBerry, No time to stop at my locker but I'll be in class right before the bell rings. She walked in an alley in between two buildings, a short cut she had discovered her third week of school, and when she came out...

Y/n was almost knocked to her ass by a frantically running boy with piss yellow hair. All of her books she had been holding feel to the ground, and she let out an exasperated sigh. Her eyes followed the boy who just kept running, Asshole didn't even notice me, well at least I'm not the only one running late. She examined the mess that was made and crouched down to pick it all up. Y/n did her best to place everything into her bag, chase after a few stray papers, and pull herself back into the direction of school. The bell to start first period had rung fifteen minutes ago and she knew her teacher wasn't going to be pleased.

"That'll be fifteen minutes with me afterschool, Miss Shiro." her teacher called out as she took her usual seat by the window.

"Yes sir." she said monotone. I'm gunna find that kid from earlier, I know he goes here, and I'm going to lock him in one of the storage rooms for the rest of the day.

Y/n never found him. She spent the rest of the day just as normal. Classes went by at a decent pace. Despite the teachers droning on boring lessons and talking about final exams, she passed notes with her seatmate and best friend in school, Nami. They had lunch with a larger group of girls on the school's lawn, making plans for the weekend. "I can't," Nami said, "I promised a friend I would go shopping." Y/n began raised her eyebrows and cooed, "A boooyyyyyyfriend? Perhaps?" Nami hit her friend's arm, "No! My legit childhood best friend; you would absolutely love her! I need you two to meet."

"Alright, as long as I don't have a hot date." Nami gave Y/n a blank stare, "The only date you'll have is with your textbooks. Seriously if you actually give a guy a chance to take you out then I'll give you a pass for missing a shopping spree." They laughed and carried on the rest of their day happy together.

The final bell rang and Nami gave Y/n a sympathetic look, "It's only fifteen minutes you'll survive." she whispered and Y/n hit her head off her desk. Fifteen minutes doesn't seem like a lot but it seriously dents my routine. She would miss the bus and have to walk the entire way home. It's a pain in the ass.

When the time was up she apologized to her teacher for being late and headed to her locker. As she walked down the hall a bright yellow head caught her eye, the boy from earlier was talking to another blonde boy. They seemed to be having a very serious conversation. It's not even worth it. Nope not at all. If I confront him about this morning he'll be facing the wrath of Y/n and that's just too much energy to exert before this walk. She mentally let the boy who made her knock her things over this morning go and situated her belongings in her locker. With necessities in hand she left the school building.

Lately walking through Tokyo had been difficult for anyone in Y/n's particular age group. There had been a surge of gang violence because of what people were calling the "Era of Three Deities". Due to Y/n's insisting need to live life on the wild side, she had attended a couple afterschool fights, flirted with a couple certified bad boys, and had a general idea of what was going on in the delinquent world. However, she never dove feet first into anything serious. Her older brother had died from gang violence, so she learned how to throw a punch and mind her business. There was rarely daytime delinquent activity she had to be weary of but afterschool and night time was when things like that started to stir in the streets of Tokyo. Her regular walk home would serve to be boring, just as it always had been, or so she thought.

Y/n walked down the long street, halfway home, and looked at her daily planner to go over what needed to be done before the end of the week. Then she hit a wall, stunning herself and almost falling on her ass in the process. The wall she hit then started yelling,

"Watch where the fuck you're...."

Bright blue eyes. Y/n lifted her own gaze and made contact with bright blue eyes. She tore her eyes away and looked at her surroundings. Three guys all in long, light trench coats were taking up the entirety of the sidewalk. She looked back at the stranger. "If you weren't taking up all the concrete," she motioned to the ground, "then I wouldn't have walked into you bud." She spat the last word. Y/n glared at him, pissed off that once again that a stupid boy who wasn't paying attention had made her drop her things. Her daily planner, backpack, and fake thick rimmed reading glasses had scattered. She bent down to collect her things, reaching for the planner first when her glasses came into the vision.

The boy had also bent down and was handing her the spectacles. She stared at him, his long blonde hair, bright eyes, pierced ears, long limbs. Why does he look so familiar? She thought to herself. He covered his mouth and scars slightly with one hand, "Um....here you go. I'm," he looked quickly in the direction of his friends that were still standing there and stopped himself from apologizing. That pissed off Y/n even more. Her glare became hateful and she snatched the glasses out of his hands. "I got it. Seriously get out of my face, I'm not in the fucking mood today." With that his eyes lit up, they really started to sparkle. He stared at her a bit longer than he should have but straightened up and started to walk away with his friends. He looked back over his shoulder, Why does she look so familiar?

Haruchiyo's heart was racing. When he had first walked into her his adrenaline from the fight Kantou Manji Gang had been in earlier had risen back up quickly. He had been waiting to let out more steam. But the feeling was squashed and the breath stolen from his lungs. He couldn't finish telling her to watch where she was going because he was absolutely mesmerized. For some odd reason when he first saw her it felt as if his heart had been ripped out of his chest. Looking at her made him feel heartbroken.

When she opened her mouth and spoke so boldly to him he snapped back into reality. Who the fuck does she think she is? He watched her bend down to grab the things she had dropped and for some strange reason he actually felt guilty. If I help her she'll talk to me some more. So he reached for her glasses, Look at these nerd lenses, can she even see anything without them? He met her glare and realized that yep, she can definitely see because she's shooting daggers at me. He wanted to apologize but could feel Koko's smug smile, silently mocking. He felt her eyes wandering his face too and subconsciously covered his scars from her. When she finally snapped at him, like really snapped, Sanzu could've shot hearts out of his eyes the way old time cartoon characters did. His heart did a backflip. She's hot when she's angry. He suddenly realized she had told him to fuck off and he hadn't yet. But he had to steal one more look at her over his shoulder. She looked so familiar to him.

She was standing up and he could get a good look at her legs. He snapped out of his distraction when he heard someone yell from across the street.

"Hey Y/n! Looking good! You got any plans this weekend?"

Haruchiyo stopped in his tracks. His face flashed confusion and anger. He balled his fists. Mikey and Koko stopped too. Mikey sighed, "I'm going back to the spot. You keep an eye on him." With that Mikey left Koko with Sanzu-sitting.

Y/n smiled bright, the two boys across the street were in her grade and she knew them through Nami. They always flirted with her in between classes, arguing over who would walk her to class. The one that had yelled had been the one she had started to grow interested in. She had never seen him out of school before now and felt like entertaining the idea. She yelled back to him, "Why?"

"Because I wanna know if you need a date!"

The weight of an arm fell across Y/n's shoulders, "No man she doesn't." The voice next to her was deep, with a rasp that sent shivers down her spine. She looked up to see the boy from earlier smirking at the boys across the street. He looked cocky and menacing. She huffed a sarcastic laugh, "I don't?" Y/n asked him. He sent the smirk down to her, keeping his arm around her, "No you don't. You're busy this weekend." He looked back over to the guys and waved goodbye as he pivoted the two of them in the opposite direction. He's got some fucking audacity doesn't he? She removed herself from his grip, standing in front of him and putting her arms across her chest to stare up at him, "Busy doing what?"

"I'm taking you out doll face."

Y/n looked at him hard now. She could not shake the feeling of nostalgia she felt towards this guy. You'd think I'd remember someone so good looking. "Do I know you?" she asked flat and straight to the point. "From somewhere?" He got nervous under her eyes and scratched the back of his neck, "Maybe, you look familiar too." She gave him a skeptical look, her eyebrows cinched together slightly shaking her head back and forth to say no. He seemed to have shaken off his nerves because he stepped close to her, leaving an inch in between them and wiggled his brows, "I think I saw you in my dreams."

Y/n laughed hard, rolling her eyes and giving him a light shove with her hand. He turned towards the guy that had stuck around. His friend looks beyond mortified, and the blonde boy in front of her waved a hand up towards his friend, "I'll catch up with you later Koko." He turned his attention back to Y/n. Tilting his head in the direction she had been heading and started walking. She didn't move from her spot on the sidewalk. Confused, but also feeling more than willing to see where this goes. "What're you doing?"

He looked at her with an expression that read Isn't it obvious?, he extended his arm towards where he had been heading. "I'm walking you home. I gotta know where to pick you up from."

Y/n's feet just started moving, she couldn't help but feel a magnet pulling them together. She slipped her bag off her shoulder. "Alright Loverboy, hold my stuff." She smirked at him and he rolled his eyes dramatically but smiled back. Grabbing the bag from her he replied, "Anything you say doll face."

She started walking but it was his turn to stand still. She looked back at him over her shoulder and he was nervous energy again. She turned around completely. He was rubbing his jaw and checking her out slowly, his eyes went back up to hers to hold contact. He clicked his tongue and shook his head.

"We never got a proper introduction," he explained, "I'm Haruchiyo." He coughed to shake the nerves she could feel him radiating, "Sanzu Haruchiyo."

"I'm Y/n. Shiro Y/n. It's nice to meet you." She smiled up big at him and couldn't help herself from grabbing his hand. Interlocking their fingers. His eyes went big in shock, but settled into a dreamy sweetness. "Lead the way." he said to her and she did.

Just like that they were walking hand in hand, headed somewhere only Y/n knew and Haruchiyo was just along for the ride. She could walk me off the edge of the world and I'd follow.
