60 Targeted by a Tier 4 Phantom Tail

"5000 done, 10,000 more to go." The Ground Controller using the Bone Family's Tier 4 Relic—one with the power of Bone Devour—felt a tad exhausted, twirling the ends of her hair while staring at the carcasses that were being stacked up into a wall nearby.

Once all the energy in their bodies was absorbed by the Tier 4 Relic, the body of the Swarm monster became a withered corpse. But, it was still heavy and occupied a large space. If they weren't dealt with on time, once their corpses began to decompose, a plethora of problems would crop up.

Any Frenzy Beast wishing to take advantage of the situation could spin their auras into the decomposing corpses and create something akin to a virus, not a biological one, but one of aura.

As they weren't sure if the Frenzy Beasts had researched and created a means to achieve this, those from the Bone Family didn't wish to take chances. Besides, though lacking in energy, they were still useful.

The pile of corpses practically encompassed the entire region in Wild Zone 9 as the Developers performed the grunt work, stacking them up. Once at least ten corpses were stacked up, a Shifter arrived at the scene, climbing to the top before observing their surroundings, taking in the layout decided by Havita Bone.

The Shifter's toes elongated before branching out like a network of roots, burying into the fleshly mass, rapidly eating them up like churning maggots before transforming the mass into bone that was funnelled into the tap root section of the network.

The tap root section transformed into a pillar of bone that readily elongated in length, burrowing into the ground before eating up the rest of the fleshly mass, gaining girth too.

The first bone pillar reached a height of forty metres, spanning a radius of eight metres. And instead of resembling a structure of bone, the Shifter added in his touch, using the skin of the Swarm monsters as wallpaper to create a design.

Surprisingly, he made a decent job.

Heima landed atop the first pillar, tapping it with her foot, sensing its toughness as she thought, 'It's strong enough to withstand attacks from Shifters for around ten minutes, as long as they don't employ their Skills.'

"They should last a fair while against the Swarm."

Currently, there wasn't much she could do. After all, her Tier 1, 2, and 3 Skills had been used to anchor her Unranked Skill. Without a Skill, there wasn't much she could do in a fight, not to mention at Tier 3, Bone Devour was useless, lacking value that even Tier 2 Skills had.

And now that Bone Family began to proceed deeper into the Wild Zone, she didn't have much to do. Thankfully, her Sync Rate had already reached 100 percent, so she was glad, having saved up a lot of contribution points that she otherwise would have to spend to obtain Frenzy Fruits.

"Come help us, Heima." A Bone Family member shouted, "We need to pile them up quickly before the Swarm takes over this region once again."

"Alright," Heima shouted back before leaping over the edge of the bone pillar, intending to land on the ground, when suddenly, her Subsoul triggered her, blazing with warning signs.

A layer of black radiance enveloped her body as Heima noticed a gaping maw emerging out of the bone pillar, intending to clamp her, 'Shit!'

The maw clamped shut, failing to kill her as Heima flashed nearby a Wave Controller, shouting in a hurry, "Enemy!"

She stared at the bone pillar, failing to notice anyone there, confused as the Wave Controller stared at her in puzzlement.

His psychic energy spread out, failing to detect anything as the Wave Controller said, "What happened, Heima? There's nothing…"

Heima teleported ten metres away in a hurry, watching the Wave Controller vanish, a drop of blood on the ground being the sole indication that he was there once.

There didn't even seem like he could offer any resistance, going out without a shout as Heima was alarmed, teleporting another ten metres away as her Subsoul was trembling erratically. All she could sense were flashes of a creature aiming for her life, not giving her enough time to teleport farther away.

She barely had enough time to move a short distance away, constantly being targeted by this creature that jutted out of the ground.

'This pattern…' Heima condensed a bone spike and pierced the ground with it, repeating the same around her until the area was littered with them. She activated her Bone Devour to the limit, making the bone spikes siphon any energy in contact with them, observing them with bated breath, seeing them all remain unresponsive.

Her attention fell on the Bone Family Shifters that had gone too deep into the Wild Zone. Those in her vicinity were only Developers and a sparse few Wave Controllers. 'They cannot handle this opponent.'

Tier 4 Frenzy Beast—Phantom Tail!

From the same Frenzy Beast race that almost resulted in her death before, same for her husband, Ravis Bone, touted to be the greatest foe for Humanity in the upcoming years.

Heima had only faced a Tier 3 Phantom Tail before, and even that was a troublesome opponent. But now, she was alarmed, for her senses were going off a tangent, barely able to notice the figure of a beast jutting out of the ground from time to time.

Unfortunately, her bone spikes proved useless as the beast simply phased through them, its eyes revealed for an instant when it glared at Heima, watching her teleport to a position ten metres away.

The two seemed to be at a standstill for less than a second before the beast retreated into the ground, seemingly vanishing.

"Sister!" Jyorta's voice of concern resounded as he appeared before her, carried by Henrik Bone who managed to notice what was up at the place.

"Phantom Tail?" Henrik Bone said in all seriousness, his face hardening upon seeing Heima nod as he expanded his senses, going through everyone in the region as he scowled, "Twelve Developers and four Wave Controllers have vanished."

He said, watching the Espers of the Bone Family rush towards him, alerted by his sudden appearance, "From right under our noses."
