Chapter 60 - Morlocks vs Marauders

[July of 2012]

[Underground Tunnels]

3rd PoV

Andrew's plan for the Morlocks was very simple. He would standby for a bit and let them suffer for a while and when they are all on the verge of death and was drowning in despair, he would then act and save them in an act of grace.

Using that tactic. Andrew was pretty sure that the Morlocks would then trust him after he saved them and his work will get lighter as he doesn't need to manually gain their trust.

With that thought in mind. Andrew relaxedly and invisibly sat on a flat, protruding big rock on the wall as he watched the battle beginning to get intense.

He watched as Gambit once again pulled a card from his sleeves, used his meta ability as he removed the card's potential energy.

The card was then replaced and charged with kinetic energy as he smoothly threw it to the Marauders while he pulled another card again — repeating the process.

*Boom*

His target was mostly Arclight as the ruthless woman quickly evaded the exploding cards and waved her hand to Remy's direction after landing.

*Swoosh*

A wave of not-so-strong vibrational energy emerged from her glowing hands as the attack quickly reached Gambit.

*Thud*

Gambit – who was just about to evade – was saved by Sunder who stood in front of him and took the attack square on his chest.

*Craaaa!*

Though, Sunder's body was tough enough to resist Arclight's average attack as he just slid backwards with his bare feet scraping the ground, forming a long line of deep foot prints.

*Dun, Dun*

Sunder quickly recovered as he then started running towards the direction of Arclight with an impressive speed.

Arclight just smirked at him as she stepped aside and Michael Baer aka Blockbuster revealed himself with a grin on his face.

Sunder wasn't fazed as he continued running and then pulled back his fist and punched out after reaching the range of Blockbuster.

*Thud*

Blockbuster also pulled back his fist and punched out as their fist met in the air and produced a low thudding sound.

On the other hand. Caliban was busy carefully guiding the other Morlocks out of the battlefield as they evaded a few rogue attacks.

"Caliban!" Callisto shouted to Caliban in a hurry as a harpoon energy attack was thrown by Harpoon and aimed to one of the Morlock kid who was with Caliban.

The attack connected with unimpeded viciousness as it pierced the kid in his lower abdomen — blood gushing out immediately.

Andrew frowned at the state of kid but didn't outright interfere and just stealthily slowed down the bleeding while making sure that the kid wouldn't immediately die before the battle ends.

"!!!"

Callisto was enraged as she whipped her head to Harpoon's direction and threw her dagger at the guy as she ran to him at the same time.

Harpoon easily evaded the dagger as he then parried another dagger attack of Callisto.

*Pa!*

Harpoon was about to form an energy attack after his fist connected but Callisto was fast as she slapped the guy's fist away and then zoomed in and punched him in the guts without holding anything back.

"Aaack!" Harpoon spitted out blood in the air as his body arched and then like an arrow in a bow, he blast away from his position and slammed at the rocky wall.

*Smash!*

But Callisto wasn't able to celebrate long enough as she then suddenly felt a horrible headache and her vision started to fiercely shake.

Callisto – who was having a bad headache that made her lose her balance – wasn't able to react as Scalphunter who stood calmly, willed something in his mind as small holes opened up in his suit and many small weapon projectiles all came out and smashed to the defenseless Callisto.

*Bam*

The weapons all slammed at her as she was then flown through the air and landed roughly to the ground. But as if proving she was tough. She immediately began standing up as her wounds began to slowly close up in a visible pace.

Gambit turned his head around and quickly spotted Vertigo – who was the reason for Callisto's headache – as he began running towards the green wearing sexy mutant.

He once again pulled off his signature move as a card appeared between his fingers and he threw it to the woman with no hesitation at all.

Vertigo seemed to also have good reaction speed as she quickly evaded the exploding card and then focused to her ability again.

Gambit wasn't just about to let her do that headache shit again as he pulled another card and was ready to convert its potential into kinetic energy when his attempt failed as he found himself having difficulty using his own power.

Scrambler smirked in victory as he increased his attack as Gambit was eventually left defenseless as he cannot activate his own power.

*Puchi!*

The former continued smirking in victory but he didn't saw this one coming as he felt a blade piercing him from the back.

Gambit quickly felt his control over his power coming back as he watched as the last sidekick of Callisto twisted the dagger he was holding which was connected to the body of Scrambler as the latter screamed in pain.

*Stab!*

Masque – who was one of the most hideous-looking Morlock – pulled the dagger and then stabbed it again as Scrambler fell to his knees and eventually slumped to the ground as blood continued flowing from his stab wounds.

Though, he wasn't dead yet as he was still groaning in pain. Gambit looked at this scene with little to no reaction as he turned his attention to Vertigo who was now starting to panic.

On the other hand. Callisto attacked back after she evaded the weapon projectiles of Scalphunter. She used the same tactics she used on Harpoon as after Scalphunter finished his attack, she zoomed in and pulled back her fist for a good measure and then punched out.

*Crack!*

Scalphunter – who has an amazing durability courtesy of his body having cybernetics – had his ribs cracked as his calm expression broke down — replaced by a pained and rageful visage.

*Swooosh*

His body curved as he flew away from the force of the punch and collided with wall. His body slumped down beside the unconscious Harpoon.

On the other hand. Sunder and Blockbuster's fight was at a tie as they both exchanged punch upon punch.

Blockbuster blocked another punch of Sunder as he closed in and tried delivering a devastating punch to the dumb latter's guts. Keyword; Tried.

Sunder seemed to suddenly grasped a good fighting technique as he smoothly stepped one foot backwards and then swerved as he did a 360° rotation.

He then arrived to the back of the wide-eyed Blockbuster as he then opened his arms wide and then grasped the latter's neck.

It was a headlock.

Sunder also locked his feet to his enemies' as they both fell to the ground in a thud as Blockbuster wildly struggled to break free from the former's arms.

Sunder wasn't holding anything back as Blockbuster's face quickly changed to color blue as the latter felt his vision going darker and darker.

This continued on for a few moments and the expected result finally came.

*Thud*

Sunder's enemy eventually lost consciousness as the former let go and the latter rolled to the side unconsciously. The former gasped for air as he heavily breathed in and out repeatedly.

On the other hand. Arclight – who saw the situation turning bad – still had that cruel smile on her face as she finally decided to stop holding back.

"You fuckers can all go to whatever shithole you want, HaHaHaHa!" After maniacally saying that. Arclight firmed her arms and then made a sweeping motion towards the direction of Callisto, Gambit, Sunder, Masque and her teammates.

*SWOOSH!*

A tsunami-like amount of seismic energy emerged as she firmly pointed both her hands forward.

The sweeping destructive attack quickly reached the range of Gambit and Callisto as they just stared at the approaching attack with wide eyes as they know they can't possibly avoid it in time.

*BAM!*

The attack inevitably reached them as Andrew watched them all swallowed by the attack as even Arclight's own teammates wasn't spared .

*CRASH!*

The attack continued wrecking havoc as it sweeped every corner of the side of the place – aside from Arclight's side – as it eventually died down after it lost power.

Andrew watched while popping a popcorn in his mouth as he saw the state of Callisto, Gambit, Sunder, Masque, Scalphunter, Scrambler, Vertigo, Harpoon and Blockbuster.

Caliban and the other Morlocks have already left the battlefield a few moments ago so they weren't included but the state of the injured ones quickly brought a smile to Arclight's face.

Callisto and the others all had broken bones while some who was directly hit had some parts of their bodies like their limbs all mushed into paste while the bones inside all pulverized into powder.

Such unfortunate ones were Harpoon, Blockbuster and Masque. While the others who were a bit fortunate had some of their limbs all bent to different angles but all of this is curable considering that most of them had healing factor of their own.

Arclight looked around and spotted their states as the smile on her face changed into a big grin as she cackled at the same time "HaHaHaHaHa!"
