Chapter 12: "What's going on?"

"Ladies first."

"You sketch?" I ask

"No." He says quickly

I roll my eyes at his lie.

"Have you ever tried to get in contact with your dad?" He asks

I don't want to answer that so I remove the hoodie revealing me in Kayla's sports bra. Zach's eyes move down to my breasts but i immediately cover it by crossing my arms over it.

"Hey eyes up here mister!"

He chuckles

After playing for another 15 minutes, we got to know each other a bit more and here we are just in our underwear staring into each others eyes.

Zach moves closer to me, his eyes not leaving mine. He caresses my cheek gently then kisses me lightly on my lips.

"You are so beautiful." He whispers while pulling away

I blush like a fool.

He gets up to walk away but i pull him down again. He looks at me confused.

"What?" He asks

I don't know what comes over me but next thing i know I'm straddling his lap, making out with him, he doesn't hesitate and so we just continue kissing each other.

And then the phone rang.

I get up from his lap quickly, Zach groans annoyingly.

I walk over to his dresser taking my phone and picking up the call.

"Hello?" I ask

"Elle! I-it's ma!"

My eyes widen.

"She fell down the stairs!!"

My heart pounding in my chest, my hands trembling.

"W-wh-what?"

"We on our way to the hospital. Hurry!"

I nod as if she could see me and then she hangs up. I look up to see Zach lying on the bed completely confused

"Who was that?" He asks softly

"I need to go." I say, putting the hoodie over my head and slipping into the pants.

"Whats going on?"

"Ma...Fell...Hospital." Is all i manage to say as i start feeling dizzy.

"Hey, Elle are you okay?"

"Zach...she needs me."

At the hospital

After a ten minute drive, we finally arrived at the hospital. We have been sitting in the waiting room since we got here. They wouldn't let us see ma. Morons.

"Sit down."

I stop pacing as i look to my side to see Aria asleep on Kayla's lap. Kayla gently rubbing Aria's head deep in thought and Zach looking at me.

"Please sit down."

"No Zach. I can't sit down. I can't sit down knowing this is all my fau-"

"Excuse me, Elle Davis?" A voice behind me says

The doctor.

"Yes, is she okay?" I ask nervously

"Let's talk in private."

I nod as i follow him to the other side of waiting room.

"Your grandmother hurt her head quiet badly, causing TBI, nothing too serious. She's got a mild concussion but furthermore she's okay."

"TBI?"

"Traumatic brain injury."

"No." I whisper

"Hey, Its okay, she's going to be okay. It's just a mild traumatic brain injury."

"How long until she can come home?"

"Two weeks for the most."

"Can i see her? Please."

He nods as he walks me to her room.

"Not too long. She needs rest."

I nod as i push the door open and walk through.

My eyes start to tear up, seeing ma, her head bandaged, pipes attached to her, machines on the side of her bed.

"Ma?"

She doesn't smile, she doesn't talk.

"Im so sorry ma. This is all my fault. I should never have left you." I say as i cry whilst holding her hand.

At Elle's place

"Aria why don't you go take a nice bath, ill make something to eat."

She nods and makes her way upstairs.

I turn to Zach and Kayla

"Want anything to drink or eat?"

"Thanks Elle but I have to go, i got homework waiting for me at home."

"Thanks Kayla. For watching Aria, for taking ma to the hospital. I appreciate it."

"No problem."

And with that she grabs her bags from the sofa and walks out closing the front door behind her.

I walk over to the kettle and switch it on. I need a cup of tea!

"What did he say?" Zach speaks once the kettle has boiled

"Who?"

"The doctor Elle. What did he say?"

"She's got a mild concussion but she's going to be okay. I can visit her everyday for an hour and she should be back at home in two weeks."

"What are you gonna do?"

"Huh?"

"You have to take care of Aria, but you have school. What are you gonna do?"

"Ill figure it out later. Tea?"

"God dammit Elle! Your grandmother is in hospital for the next two weeks, you got exams coming up, you got school but you also got a ten year old sister who needs to be taken care of and you are thinking about tea?!"

I start to feel lightheaded and dizzy, i seem to lose my balance as my body hits the ground. Everything around me is black and blury.

"Elle?!!, just breathe, can you hear me? Hey Elle!"

And my eyes close, i can't see or hear anything. Everything is blurred out.
