Waylen's POV

Whenever I think of Emily Williamson I smile for no reason. It's like a reflex, something I can't control. It's like when life hands me a lemonade instead of the usual lemon.

She is carefree. She's fun. And she has a light about her and as an added bonus there was no drama. 

God, I hate drama.

I have had enough of it to last me a century. Starting with watching as my mother got beaten to death to sitting quiet at a corner while my father kisses or hugs a girl I loved and I can't do anything about it because the law says he has the right to kiss and make love to a woman half his age knowing fully well that I have been there and I have done that.

I often wonder whether Cassie thinks of me when he is on top of her. It's not a competition but I sincerely hope I was a better lover to Cassidy just as much as I sincerely hope my father was terrible in bed just as he is a rotten parent.
