5 Having No Choice

Seeing my silence he sighs for a second and starts rambling again,

"When I became champion, I thought I can change the way the society works but then I found out that a single trainer can't do much to overturn the rules set by the nobles. It's very ironic because I too am a noble. So, in the last ten years, I am doing my best to teach my ideals to young noble kids who might become the head of their families in the future so that we can all collectively change the rules."

He paused and looked straight at me, he gritted his teeth and said,

"Let me tell you something, I am not just against the Team Rocket, I am also against the way how the league operates and tries to control society. I found five kids from higher nobles who like to stand on the same ideals as I do but the only thing that's missing is the eradication of Team Rocket, we want someone from inside to give their motives, ideals and plans to stop them from the further establishment. All their major plans are only known to elite or executive rank members. If you take this mission then I will not only provide you with resources, I will also make you establish contacts with these five noble kids I talked about so that you can get a noble status after you complete the mission. If you are worthy enough to become an executive in Team Rocket then I will announce you as my student when all this is over."

He stooped talking and looked at me hoping for an answer. I guess, he is good at convincing people. After hearing all that, even I am starting to feel for him and his goals. He is trying hard to make commoners and orphans get a chance to survive. If it was me from five years ago, I would have ignored him but I have lived as an orphan and I know how tough it is so I am still thinking about what to say.

"Professor, can I know the names of those five people from noble families?" I said.

"Sure, but keep it a secret. Bruno from Kanto, Steven from Hoenn, Cynthia and Flint from Sinnoh, Diantha from Kalos. They are all excellent seeds and I am sure things will turn out good if any of them become champions. All I am missing now is a higher ranked spy in Team Rocket which is where I want you. Trust me, by the time my grandson grows up for his journey, I want this all to be over. So just 7 years is all I am asking for."

'wtf..... those are all powerhouses', if they are nearly around my age then am I in the past? So the timeline I am born is seven years before the start of Kanto arc? I am tempted to accept the mission to go undercover now.

"What if I reject your offer and go on my own?"

"I say that's fair, I will ask my Alakazam to erase your memory of what happened today and we will continue our lives like this meeting never happened. I will tell Vanessa to inform you about team rocket so that you can escape five to ten days early."

Everything about what he said is good, except the erasing my memory part, the moment Alakazam gets inside my mind, it will know everything about me. That's just fucked up, I learned to not trust anyone with my secret because no one is as good as the anime says, even if its Professor Oak. So, now Oak won't leave without erasing my memory and I can't let Alakazam get inside my mind. Either way, I have no choice but to accept. His terms are really good and I am still confident about surviving in Team Rocket, at least I should convince myself that.

Seeing that I am thinking intently, he gives me one more offer that I couldn't reject.

"Young man, how about this? I heard from alakazam that you have the potential of becoming a psychic. You took the telepathic contact without any pressure, that means you can become a psychic, usually, when people contact telepathically they get severe headaches and get used to it gradually. Even I had headaches at the start, but seeing that you have no abnormalities, I can ask my Alakazam to awaken your psychic abilities. If you are at least a medium grade psychic then you can easily avoid the problems on the trial island, you can even talk to Pokemon. If you are high grade Psychic then I think you don't need to worry about getting killed, but I will only awaken it if you accept the offer. So that's all I have to offer for you."

I can't say no to that, talking with pokemon...that's the most useful thing there is. I read in a book that only Champion level and above psychic Pokemon can awaken someone's psychic abilities, so if I disagree then there is no way I can awaken in my life. Anyway, I was going to accept the mission, I don't have a choice because I don't want alakazam to read my mind.

"Professor, I hope I don't regret the decision that I am going to make for the rest of my life. I will take the offer but whatever happens, don't contact me until I contact you, leave the contact number with Vanessa and I will take it from her. Now, please awaken my psychic powers." I said.

"Thank you, Jay, I promise you that I will help you to best of my ability. Alakazam, you can start the awakening," he said.

[Human thank you from my side as well, you have made a good choice, now I will send my psychic thread to pass through your brain. Don't resist, psychic thread acts as a catalyst to awaken your hidden psychic power and you will pass out because of the pressure it puts on your brain, after waking up you will be fresh as new. Goodbye human, I hope to see you again.]

Before I process everything, something hits me like a hundred tons weight, I don't even know what's happening inside my brain but tears burst out of my eyes and I pass out to nothingness.

"Vanessa, after he wakes up, give him this contact number. I don't know how long it will take for this year trials to get over but I hope he survives or else I don't know how long will I need to wait before I find a worthy kid," said Oak.

"Yes Professor Oak, is there anything I should inform him of?"

"Nothing else, just feed him well this month so that he is fit enough to survive those harsh trials. Goodbye Vanessa, inform me if anything big happens inside team rocket."
