4 Convincing me

"I get all that but why tell me all this? you seriously don't want me to willingly get kidnapped right?"

[ Actually, that's what we are hoping for. People who join Team rocket without participating in the trials can never become an elite or executive rank. They don't trust people who join as grunts and go up the rank, they don't want people from the league to infiltrate their higher positions. So the only way we can make people infiltrate their higher positions is that by convincing the orphans getting kidnapped. Until now we couldn't find an orphan who is matured and talented enough to do that, I mean most of the orphans hate the league bit you are different. We have been keeping track of you for three years, you never complain or scold others, you don't even blame the league. You behave as if you are sure that you can become a champion no matter what. You study diligently and you do whatever job people give you for a meagre amount of money. I almost thought that you are an old man in the body of a kid. Vanessa is the first one to infiltrate team rocket but she can't go up the ranks as she joined as a grunt. We were waiting for one impossible opportunity to find a kid who is matured and talented without any education. We thought it was impossible until Vanessa informed us about you three years ago. So please consider the matter and help us.]

"I understand all your problems but I have no reason to help you guys. You said you were observing me for three years, so you do know the hardships I have gone through but you let me suffer and yet you stand there asking me for help. You know how funny this sounds?"

[Human, convincing you is not my job. I have given you the explanation so wait for Oak to come. You can accept or reject but listen to oak before doing that.]

"Fine then," I said annoyingly but I realised that I was rude to a master level Pokemon. I am thankful that Alakazam did not take it offensively but seriously, no matter how calm I can be, they can't just spy on me for three years without helping me and then ask for help.

We both sat there for around 15 minutes before Professor Oak and Vanessa come out. Professor Oak had a serious expression while Vanessa looked a bit annoyed. Oak snaps out of his thinking and then smiles at me.

'Don't fucking give me that smile old man.'

"Jay, I heard from Vanessa that you were going to catch your first pokemon but sorry for the intervention today. I hope Alakazam explained to you, so what do you say?"

Before I answer him, Alakazam started talking with Professor Oak about what I told a while back. Oak has telepathic contact with alakazam and nods seriously, then he turns to me and starts speaking

"Jay, I know we are asking too much but please understand that this is not charity from you, we will have an equal trade-off. I will give you the best terms for the risk you will take for the League, no scratch that....this is a personal mission given by me and no one will be aware of it except us. You can trust Vanessa here. Just listen to the terms I give and then you can decide."

No matter what terms you give, I won't take this suicidal mission but let's hear the terms first.

"Ok, please state the terms," I said.

"Jay, I know that you want to go on a journey to challenge the league conference but have you thought about how to earn money? or how you are going to get resources for the growth of your Pokemon? or on how you feed your Pokemon?. If you want to win the conference you will need a lot of resources and strong Pokemon that consume a lot of food which will make even the children from Baron families go bankrupt. You don't have a League ID, so the amount you earn through battles will be so low that you will have enough to feed yourself. Keep in mind that strong Pokemon or rare Pokemon consume a lot of resources that you can never imagine. An Elite Garchomp consumes a months worth of food in a day, and that's just normal food not poke blocks. If you want to become a champion you need my help, and it so happens that I need your help. So I think this is a fair trade-off."

He stops at that and waits for my reply. I was so full of myself till yesterday and now I am starting to doubt myself. He is right, I can at max feed two Pokemon that are medium-sized, I knew I had no chance of training six or more Pokemon and take on the league but I told myself that I am a reincarnation and I can overcome everything.

Deep inside I knew the harsh reality but I chose to ignore it, now Professor Oak put everything out openly. League ID is very hard to get, you need to graduate from an academy to be eligible. There are other academies in this world other than the official League Academy, but I can't study in any of them because I am an orphan.

If you don't have a League ID then you have to pay for every healing session in the Pokemon centre and also the costs for room and operations if Pokemon are injured seriously. I know it's hard but I don't want to accept the trade because Team Rocket will be even worse, I am sure of that. If normal life is like hell then how will the hell in team rocket be? So, no matter what, I have to decline but deep inside I want to agree.

'shit, shit, fuck..., I need to calm down'

"Professor Oak, everything you say is tempting but it's not worth my life. What if I die in the trials? what if I get exposed? League doesn't know that I am undercover so, they won't care even if I am exposed. I will just become a no one who died on an unknown island." I said.

"Jay, if you can't clear the trials and die then that means you can never become a good trainer. Trust me, clearing those trials will be easier than collecting 8 gym badges. You will never get exposed because I will not contact you until you call me. I can see from your eyes that you have a passion for becoming a trainer and your aim is beating the champion. I can provide you with the best quality resources for your Pokemon and the reason I am coming to an unknown orphan for help instead of going to those big noble families is that Team Rocket infiltrated the League and I don't know whom to trust. Me being a master trainer is not just a name, it's a responsibility..."

"Then why can't you go making a team from the league and crush Team Rocket with your master level Pokemon. You are the only one to have that strong pokemon right?"

"I did try that and it backfired on me, My childhood friend Blaine joined Team Rocket and I had no idea about it. I, Agatha and Blaine tried to destroy the main base three years ago and failed miserably. Blaine backstabbed us at the last second, I am not even sure who to trust in the League after that. Sometimes I even doubt Lance, it has gotten to the point where I have to do this alone," he said with a pained expressed.

No wonder he is asking a no one like me but...

"Then why are you trusting me? I can also betray you right?"

"True, you too can betray me but Vanessa said everything about you and she also said you have good disposition as she saw you help strangers a lot of times. For now, I will keep my trust but in case you change then I will take you down," He said with resolve.

"Take others down in the same way you do to me, that's easy right?" I asked him.

"No, I always thought I am the only master trainer but the issue is that three years ago Agatha and I found out that Team Rocket's boss has two master level pokemon. The only way to take him down is from the inside which is why I want you to rank up inside the organisation and give me all the info on Team Rocket spies in the League. I know there are high-level spies inside the league just like Blaine but not sure who it is." He said and waited for my reply.
