31 Confusion
Gregory POV:
I always thought Jay was good but never actually realized his true talent. That battle looked so pro-level just like the ones they show on TV.
"Hey, you!!!!" I heard a voice behind me, which suddenly jolted me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah, What?" I said in a casual tone.
"You are from the same island as that Raven and Duke guy right? You also placed fifth among all of us?", asked a random trial taker.
" Yeah, so what? Do you have a problem?" I asked annoyingly as his tone was rude.
I am technically placed fifth because I was the last one to lose. All battles start at the same time and who lasts longer among the losers will be placed ahead.
"How come your island guys did so well, three of you are from the same island and placed in top 5," he asked. He suddenly turned friendly after my confirmation of being in the top 5.
This guy is a boot licker for sure, I know that I survived the whole trial because of Jay and I would have long been dead if not for him. My Corphish got healthier because of him and I even got a Joltik from him, the only thing I did was to get a Nidorino. Although he is a bit violent, Corphish and Galvantula keep him under control. I turned back towards the guy who asked me,
"Don't put me with those freaks, I just got lucky," I said and walked away. Right now, all my attention is on the rewards, I hope they are on par with the previous prizes.

Duke POV:
Currently, my brain is in total conflict. I am happy that Jay kicked Kaiser's ass but I also hate the fact that Jay won. Both of them should just die. Since my childhood, I wanted to kill Kaiser but was always prohibited to do that.
Kaiser's father Captain Stein has always been a thorn in my father's eyes. They always compete at everything since they joined Team Rocket. I am just happy that Captain Stein is on executive Proton's side, if he was on Archer's team then the competition would have been worse.
One day I am gonna kill both my father and Kaiser. Just because I never defeated him in battle doesn't mean I am a loser, my father is a psychopath and always tortured me whenever I lost to Kaiser. I don't even remember the number of times I was skinned, every time I lose to kaiser I will be beaten to death, so the bigger issue is how do I explain to my father?
I did not even place second, I lost to an orphan and Kaiser which makes things worse. Now that Vahn and Stein are becoming Elites I have to do something.
'Wait!!!!!', Captain Carr is the third candidate who will be turning into an Elite. Should I join his team instead of Father's? I can use Carr and create a huge conflict with my father. Well, let's do that and then formulate a plan to kill Kaiser after that.
The only problem is that I can't deal with Jay. He is a psychic and the power I felt that day was huge enough to be on par with advanced level psychics. For some reason, he is trying to hide the fact that he is a psychic which makes me want to scream it out more.
If I tell everyone about his powers then his importance and resources in Team Rocket will grow immensely. Boss Giovanni might even take him as a student considering Jay's prowess in battles. So, I don't want to tell everyone but why the fuck is he not revealing it?
I will find out the motive behind hiding it. On the other hand, Jay does seem like the kind of guy who doesn't want to be bothered, maybe he just wants to be left alone? Am I thinking too much?.....

Jay POV:
"Everyone, it's time for the rewards. Total of twenty-two people participated and eight of you will be heavily benefited while the other eight will have good prizes. The last six will have nothing in return but will be assigned under some talented Team Rocket Captains," said the Referee who oversaw our final match.
After hearing the last sentence, the six people who placed last looked very dissatisfied. The referee who noticed their disappointment immediately said,
"Don't underestimate your reward, talented Captains have a high probability to reach Elite level and it's easier to build your connections inside the organisation. Now go through the backdoor and you will be assigned to your teams."
I think I understand what he means but the six people who have a mind of twelve-year-olds did not. The referee just ignored them and turned towards the eight people who ranked from nine to sixteen and said,
"You guys will be awarded rare items, the ninth-ranked guy gets to choose first and the last guy gets what's left. So, you guys follow the Grunt near the door, he will guide you."
After the eight people left, the last eight remained. Referee gazed at everyone and said in a friendlier tone,
"You guys can call me Fed and the things that will be given to you are a bit complicated so listen well."
We all nodded at that and he continued,
"There are eight rare eggs with all having a green-grade potential and you guys get to choose according to the rank order. Do you understand?"
All of us gleamed at that and nodded immediately. Duke and I were the only ones who acted like we were composed.
"The top four have additional rewards, you guys will be trained under one of the executives personally. Normally, this never happens but this year is an exception. Unlike any other year, this year trials generated great talents so Executives personally suggested the idea. Your titles will be 'Captain under training' while the last four will still be agents."
He paused for a minute and gave us some time to process the info. After confirming that we understood him, he continued.....
"The top two have an extra reward that is to form your own team as Captains, you can choose up to three agent ranked people from the organization and they will be transferred directly without any issues. Keep in mind that a Captain has three agents under him while each agent has ten grunts under him. All the grunts under the Agent belong to the Captain's team."
"Normally a Captain will be under an Elite but you guys are personally trained by Executives so your whole team will be under the Executive directly. The third and fourth-placed guys will have the Agents assigned to them by the Executives but they will still be under your authority. Are there any doubts?" He asked.
We all shook our heads indicating that we have no questions. So basically, I and Kaiser get to form our team without any involvement of Executives while Rose and Duke will have people assigned by the Executives. That's a great advantage as I can prevent any spies planted to track my every move.
"You guys have two months to submit the names of Agents you want to be under you. For now, let's get done with the selection of pokemon eggs. Captain Raven, you will be the first to choose so follow me while the others wait here," said Fed and immediately started walking to his right.
I followed him ignoring the hostile and jealous gazes of Kaiser and Duke. He took me to an underground basement, the security here is so tight as I saw Fed do nearly five scans, thrice with the ID and twice with the retina.
I entered a dark room which had a lot of heat oozing out, it was probably required to incubate the eggs. Fed searched for the switch and turned it on, Room was not relatively big and was the size of a medium-size bedroom.
There were eight eggs of various colours, all were placed in an incubator while the other normal eggs were kept on a shelf. I never appraised an egg so I am not even sure if it works on them.
"Don't worry, the pokemon species that will hatch from them is written on the incubator. Take your time and choose one, I will be waiting outside," He said and immediately left.
I intriguingly looked at them as this is my first time coming in contact with pokemon eggs. I looked at each one of them and almost every name that was on the incubator surprised me. All of these are rare pokemon, my only disappointment was that there was no Dragon, fairy or even a psychic. I appraised each one of them,

I appraised them in the order of rarity. There's no way Pawniard and the Starters stay till Gregory gets his pick. You can just tell by the looks that last Five of them can be blue potential pokemon if trained and fed well.
In my mind, I already eliminated the first four options. I regretfully chose to eliminate pawniard as I already have a dark type and I can choose Piplup if I want a steel type. Eevee although is good, it's not my type of pokemon and who will choose an Eevee if you have two starters to pick from.
Honestly, I want to run away with these eggs. Where the fuck did they get these eggs from? I am sure the starters are stolen from a very high Nobel family. You don't just get hidden ability starters even if you wish for them.
Serperior and Empoleon have their own advantages. If it was a Snivy with Overgrow, I wouldn't even have considered the option to choose it. Contrary is a blessing to Snivy species but can a Serperior spam leaf storm like in the games? Leaf Storm is a very powerful attack that takes a lot of energy to unleash but I will have a lot of options if I choose snivy because of Talonflame and Sunny day.
Synthesis, Solarbeam, Workup and not to talk about Reflect and Light Screen. Snivy gives me a lot of options and combinations.
Empoleon's ability might not be overpowered like Serperior's but he has the most unique typing ever. The main reason I am confused to pick is that Empoleon can act as a partial wall to my team, he has the most resistances among all the pokemon that exist. Electric/Steel typing is the only combination that can beat it but this typing has four times weakness towards ground types which makes Water/Steel an ideal choice.
Empoleon also has great stats in Hp, Def and Sp.Def which makes this even better. The only minus is that Empoleon is slow, Piplup's line has the most versatile moveset when compared with Serperior's in terms of offence. He can counter all his weaknesses while Serperior can't, this is where Serperior lacks.
Finally, both have their plus and minus points. From the team point of view, both can contribute so choosing anyone can benefit me. I stood in front of the two eggs for around five minutes and was still confused, I did not know what to do so I summoned Krokorok out.
"Krok, I have two eggs here so pick one. I won't tell you from which pokemon they are, so just choose blindly." I said confusing the heck out of Krokorok.
I have no problem picking any one of them but asking Krokorok to pick will make it easy for me. I won't have any regrets and will have Krokorok to blame if anything goes wrong.
[Fine, I don't know why you are asking me to pick but it just shows that you value my judgement more than yours.] said Krokorok in a prideful tone.
'There he goes again with self-praise and stuff', I shake my head and ask him to pick immediately to which he picked an egg and placed it over my hands. I returned Krokorok back to the ball and walked out with the incubator in hand.
"Took your sweet time huh? let's go back," said Fed in understanding.
I went back to where everyone was, all their eyes were on the incubator in my hands. I just shrugged and went towards Gregory, all of these guys were sitting in each corner far away from each other.
Fed took Kaiser with him and the room turned once again turned silent. I signalled Gregory to come outside to which he complied, we went far away so that no one can hear us. I did not want to reveal my psychic powers to him so no telepathy for now.
"Congratulations on winning Jay, you were so good out there," he said in happiness.
"Thanks but I called you out so that I can give you a suggestion."
"Oh!!! what is it, Jay?"
"First of all call me Raven, don't reveal my name out. Secondly, what is the third pokemon you caught?"
"Oh I am sorry, I got used to it. As for your second question, I caught a Nidorino because I have a moonstone and also Nidoking is a great pokemon to have," he said.
Great choice but I can't suggest Swinub now. 'No!!!!', Mamoswine and Nidoking only share water weakness even though both are Ground types. Gregory has Joltik to cover that weakness so I think it won't be an issue to have two Ground types. Ice types are also one of the rare types, I then turned towards him and said,
"When you go in to pick a pokemon, choose Eevee or Swinub. Eevee might not be there but if it's there pick it, you can evolve it into a psychic or dark type. I would recommend Espeon as psychics are very rare but it is up to you. If Rose picks Eevee then pick Swinub, don't go for any other pokemon."
"Ahh sure, I am bad at choosing when multiple options are given, so thanks for the suggestion," he said.
"It's fine, you will be on my team anyway and helping you is helping myself," I said and we moved back into the room.
