19 (XIX) Cobalt Trainer

"Congratulations Isaac, you've successfully become an Official Trainer of the Pokémon Association!" Karl said proudly.

"Indeed, you have done well." The man on the left said.

"Before you is your Trainer Card, Badge Case, and for your overall score, we included the most recently released model of the Pokégear." The man on the right said.

"In addition, since you did not participate in the PokéSchool Training Program under a certified Pokémon Professor, included are three Pokémon." The man in the center concluded.

"These there were initially selected as suitable starters but were returned by their trainers due to being unable to control them. We believe you will be successful in training one of them." Karl concluded as the man in the center pressed a button on the tablet in front of him as the container opened.

Each of the men took a pokeball and opened it as the red lasers revealed a Snivy, a Litten, and a Froakie. After releasing the Pokemon, they returned the pokeballs to their holders. Isaac pulled his visor down as he stared at the information available for each of the Pokemon in front of him.

Isaac reviewed each one and almost immediately made up his mind. He didn't like the fact that Snivy and Litten were given TMs, even though they weren't necessarily bad, but preferred the moves that Froakie had as Innate and Hidden Moves.

He couldn't make heads or tails on what the unavailable gene meant and was curious about it, hopefully, it wouldn't come back to bite him he thought. The cherry on top was his potential, being higher than the other two seemed worth it to him over the less-than-optimal nature.

He pulled the visor up and stared at the three pokéballs. He hovered his hand over each of the pokéballs before he finally landed on Froakie's pokéball and grabbed it.

Karl stood up and patted Isaac on his shoulder, congratulating him before grabbing Snivy and Litten's pokéballs and returning them and placing them back into the case, and closing it before picking the case up and leaving the room.

The three men each walked around the table and shook Isaac's hand before they left him alone with his new partner.

Froakie loudly huffed as he turned his head up at Isaac. The young man frowned and approached the small frog and knelt next to him, "It's nice to meet you, are you hungry?"

Isaac reached into his bag and rummaged through it before he pulled out a few of the last remaining berries and held them out in his palm.

Froakie eyed the berries momentarily before he quickly turned his head shooting his tongue out of his mouth, pulling them into his mouth, and turning his head up once again.

Isaac smirked and grabbed one of the PokéFood pellets out of the bag and offered it to him as well, "I hope we can become friends. We will both get stronger if we work together. I swear you won't get abandoned again."

Froakie crossed his arms and scoffed raising his head higher, rejecting the offer. Isaac sighed dejectedly as his shoulders slumped and the back of his hand landed against the floor.

"We don't have to rush things, there's plenty of time for us to become friends." Isaac said softly after a long silence before he grabbed Froakie's pokéball and the red laser covered the small frog and sucked him into the pokéball.

He placed the pokéball on his belt and stood up as he took a deep breath and sighed heavily. He rubbed the back of his neck and turned to look at the two metallic cases on the table.

He picked up the smaller case and turned it over as he looked at it from all angles. It was rectangular with a glossy black metal and there were matte black designs on the front. Each of the four corners had silver-coated metallic bands.

He opened it and looked inside to see a lush velvet material with 18 small circular silver-looking magnets evenly spaced on the bottom part of the case.

The top part had his embossed Cobalt Trainer Card, 'Well, it's better than a normal one. Maybe if I fought with a handicap I could have received a Bronze one...' Isaac dismally thought.

He closed the case and placed it into a compartment specifically designed to house his Badge Case and slid the bigger case toward him.

He released the clasps on both ends and raised the lid. Nestled in the middle was a black slim Pokégear. He slid his fingers along the edge before picking it up and turning it over.

Attached to the back was a small circular device. He turned it over once again and flipped it open to reveal the top half of the screen and the bottom keypad, "A flip phone..?" He laughed, "They have tablets and video calling features but still use flip phones?"

He closed the Pokégear and placed it into his pocket and flipped through the manual that was below it in the case and learned that the device on the back is a solar-powered battery.

He threw the small booklet into the case and closed it before exiting the room and leaving it on the desk with Nurse Joy, as she placed it under the desk she pulled out his restored Pokémon.

He placed them on his belt, "Excuse me…" Nurse Joy turned toward him with a smile.

"Yes? How may I assist you?" She replied.

"Ah, I'm sorry, never mind." He turned around realizing he didn't have any money for a room tonight. He went outside, looking around at the crisp evening air. The night had settled in as the street posts had lit up the looming darkness. He raised his arm as the Pokétch screen flashed on.

'I still have a few hours left, maybe I should finish my Daily Quests…" Isaac thought as he approached a nearby bench under a street lamp and sat down.

He pulled his visor down dismissing the now-increased notifications and pulled up his Quest Screen.

Isaac stood up and looked around at the empty grounds around the PokéCenter. He walked to the other side of the park to one of the empty battlefields.

He dropped his bag onto the ground before he took his vest and collared shirt off placing them onto his bag with his Pokégear and Trainer's Belt.

He dropped to the ground and began working out.

Giovanni slammed his fist down in anger at the report he just received.

Meowth cowered covering his face and cowered, "I'm sorry, boss!"

"Where is the group going?" Giovanni asked, his entire aura pouring out in frustration. Persian rose and growled, hissing at the fool who would anger her master.

"No one said anything! She said they were moving further in to locate Mew and deliver the letter to you!!" Meowth exclaimed.

"Get out of my sight! I can't stand this incompetence!" Giovanni roared causing Meowth to stumble over himself as he fled the office.

"Get a team ready to move out!" He said, turning his head slightly.

"At once sir!" A voice came from the shadows, "Also we have received word about an interesting case you might want to take a look at. It just came in."

The man stepped out from the shadows and placed the file on the table and bowed, disappearing into the shadows.

"Don't fail me Cypher. My mother may have believed you were indispensable but I do not!" Giovanni growled, grabbing the folder as a page slipped out, revealing the word 'Firenze'.
