(XX) Royalty Genes

Isaac leaned back on his arms panting heavily covered in sweat his leg crossed under him as his other knee was raised into the air. He reached over and grabbed his Pokegear from on top of his bag and flipped it open smiling at the time.

Despite the exhaustion, the rejuvenated feelings after completing his last Daily Quest, and the boost to his stats felt better, 'Thank goodness there were those two trainers with Rattatas.' He thought before he pulled up Character Screen reviewing his updated information.

As his Strength and Stamina increased he felt his physique growing, however, when his Insight increased, similarly to his Intelligence, he felt intense pain spreading across his forehead, causing him to fall to the ground.

Earlier, he had Aya, Artorious, and Elisabeth running sprints and dodging rocks that he threw and had learned that the effects were concurrent with each Pokemon that was being trained. He tried to have Froakie train with them but he refused the commands and sat down to watch the rest train.

No matter the amount of bribery or goading, Froakie refused to train alongside them. When his Perception increased, it wasn't painful like when Intelligence or Insight, but it was disorienting as he tried to adjust to his new vision, causing him to stumble after beating the trainers.

Isaac huffed in satisfaction, "Now that I'm done, I should probably find someplace comfortable to rest for the night... It's almost Ten!" He sat up and grabbed his bag, slinging it over his shoulder and looking around.

The night was eerily quiet, the city had shut down, which Isaac found odd considering in his old world, pretty much all cities were lit up and busy all day every day.

He strolled around the grounds of the PokeCenter, listening to the sounds of the chirping insects ringing into the silent night through the various trees. Looking around, Isaac appreciated the serenity he was currently experiencing for the first time in what felt like the longest time.

The young man found a large arbor attached to a small greenhouse filled with numerous berry bushes of varying shapes and colors. He sat down on a stone bench and leaned against the matching table in front of it. He pulled down his visor and reviewed the notifications again.

『Pokémon Information Screen Updated!』

『Quest Received!』

『Quest Completed!』

『Would you like to give Froakie a nickname?』

『[Yes]/[No]』

Isaac clicked on the Quest Information as the two notifications disappeared.

『Temporary Quest Received!』

『It's time for your first battle! Shock nobody by winning! It shouldn't be difficult, it isn't like you chose to have a challenge!』

『Secondary Objective: [Don't have a single Pokémon knocked out]』

The bright light flashed before his face and slowly descended to the table as a small stack of fifteen ₽100 bills was neatly stacked and a black band with a circle of large, connected faded gems were affixed to it, and a small black ring with faded stones were intricately designed with a slot in the center.

Isaac picked up the ring and looked at it curiously before he placed it on the index finger of his left hand. He similarly looked at the bracelet and attached it to his wrist on his right arm.

When both were attached, another set of notifications appeared.

"Interesting…" Isaac muttered as he stared at both with increased curiosity. Instantly the quests appeared on his screen:

'At least there's no failure or penalty this time…' Isaac thought as he rolled his eyes closing the Quest Screen.

He grabbed the PokéDollars and stuffed them into his bag before he returned to his notifications.

『Would you like to give Froakie a nickname?』

Isaac mulled it over before he chose the name of his favorite ninja in history. After submitting the nickname he nodded at his decision proudly. Afterward, he pulled up the Pokémon Information Screen, removing the final notification.

Isaac expected Ava to have a Gene, she was from the system after all. He was surprised to see both Artorious and Elisabeth had a Gene as well considering the system didn't upgrade until after he arrived in Viridian City.

When he viewed the Royalty Gene a window appeared next to it.

『<Royalty Gene>』

『Artorious/Elisabeth hail from an ancient bloodline of countless leaders before them. They will receive additional bonuses as they grow stronger. 』

He attempted to review the Unavailable and Unidentified Genes but no such windows appeared.

"Tch!" Isaac clicked his tongue, "Nothing's ever easy!' He thought to himself, but the excitement over the discovery of Artorious and Elisabeth's Royal Genealogy overshadowed any disappointment by the system's restrictions.

It didn't exactly satisfy his curiosity but at least he had some kind of inkling regarding what Ava and Hanzō's Genes could result in.

Isaac giddily closed the Pokémon Information Screen. He stretched and groaned loudly before he stood up and stared back at the PokéCenter, "Maybe I can rent a room now and sleep in a bed…"

"Hey there buddy!" A high-pitched voice came from behind him. Isaac turned around at the source of the sound and stumbled backward as he screamed.

Cypher was staring at the file as he shook his head, "Why would Giovanni send him on this mission?" He threw the folder against the floor as he paced around his private quarters.

"Madame Boss treated me as a prophet sent to help her raise Team Rocket above all the rest but instead of nominating me to replace her she put her brat of a son!" He screamed until he was blue in the face.

He began thrashing his room flinging furniture and throwing objects as they smashed against the walls. Cypher screamed in frustration once more as he sat amidst the destruction panting heavily.

He ran his fingers through his disheveled hair and sighed heavily before he stood up and straitened his coat and shirt and opened the door.

"Get me The Three Beasts!" He ordered as his aide saluted and ran off down the dimly lit hallway. Cypher pressed against the bridge of his glasses and pressed them up his nose before slamming his door shut and walking down the hallway in the opposite direction.

"Giovanni might be trying to push me out, but he'll be in for a rough surprise." He said to himself as he pressed the keypad summoning the elevator.

After boarding the elevator he inserted his keycard and pulled it out as a hidden compartment opened and a handprint scanner appeared. He placed his hand on it as the red scanner turned green and the doors closed as he adjusted his tie with a wicked smile across his face.
