Chapter 11

Morning came rather fast and Oliver found himself still staring into the ceiling with his eyes reddened and a terrible headache slowly beginning to set in. The night felt like the longest he had ever had to endure and the most disturbing too as he laid there, counting everything and anything. It was bizarre and it had felt like morning would never come.

The chirping sounds from the nightly crickets had kept his company, while he frogs croaking away into the night provided some melodious tune for his embattled and troubled mind.

"One… two… three… four… ", Vukan had started counting before running out of numbers.

He counted the chirps, the croaks, and the number of times the wind rattled against his window panes and even his own sighs. Time crawled past in the slowest possible manner and it only contributed to his restlessness and inability to do anything.

"Why isn't he even calling me back?" he asked himself while he took another look at his phone.
