Synopsis

Upon awakening, Zhou Sui finds himself a low-level Qi Refiner in the Cultivation World. Fortunately, he obtains the Supreme Gu God Bowl, which allows him to cultivate various Gu Insects. Cultivating the Spring Autumn Gu can prolong his life and bestow immortality. Cultivating the Golden Cicada Gu grants the ability to revive the dead and regenerate flesh and bone. Cultivating the Dragon Elephant Gu gives him the Power of Dragon Elephant and the Dragon Elephant's Body, making him invulnerable. Yet, the first Gu Insect he cultivates happens to be the Obsession Gu. From then on, he discovers a broad path of cultivation. As time changes and landscapes shift, the only constants are my eternal life and the everlasting Zhou family.

Chapter 1Chapter 1: This is the Cultivation World_1

"I am a female, 18 years old, 165cm tall, a martial heroine looking to find a cultivator husband."

"A 30-year-old mature female cultivator, due to my advancing years, I only wish to find a mature male cultivator to spend the rest of my life with."

"A young female cultivator here, I like being controlled by powerful cultivators."

"Having heard that cultivators are powerful, I am a traditional woman, willing to be submissive."

"Cultivator big brother, I have been in business for many years with abundant family wealth, and long for a house full of children."

In front of Hundred Flowers Tower in Misty Cloud City,

A bevy of stunning beauties stood on the second floor, casting flirtatious glances at the cultivators who passed by, causing those who had just embarked on the path of cultivation to look sideways again and again.

This is a world of cultivators.

Once you become a cultivator, you are an Immortal of the Mortal World, able to ascend to the heavens in a single step, and even the most ordinary cultivator can live a hundred years and possess vast wealth.

It can be said that by becoming a cultivator, you automatically gain the right to choose a spouse, attracting countless mortal women like moths to a flame.

"Humph, a bunch of demons, thinking of destroying my Dao Heart?!"

"Mere mortal women, also aspiring to climb out of their league, huh?"

"That's right, we cultivators with a Spiritual Root should pursue the path to immortality; how can we indulge in such distractions?"

"With no women in one's heart, cultivating the Dao naturally becomes divine."

Many of the passing male cultivators gritted their teeth, suppressing the stirrings in their hearts, and quickly moved away from Hundred Flowers Tower, afraid that they might lose control and fall into the trap set by these seductresses.

Otherwise, they feared they might end up falling into these women's clutches.

"So this is the cultivation world, huh."

In the distance, a young man about eighteen watched this scene with an indescribable expression, finding everything incredibly fresh.

His name was Zhou Sui, a transmigrator.

He had been living comfortably in his original world, a standard homebody with a car and a house, enjoying a good life. But who could have expected that, during a mountain climbing trip, he would suddenly fall off a cliff?

As a result, he had been transmigrated into this cultivation world and became this eighteen-year-old youth who bore the same name as him.

The most unfortunate part was that his predecessors—parents who were cultivators in the Late Qi Cultivation stage—had died during an expedition to a relic, leaving behind only him, forlorn and alone.

Furthermore, he was merely a cultivator with a Ninth Grade Spiritual Root, with a cultivation only at the first layer of Qi cultivation.

Staying in the Loose Cultivator City, Misty Cloud City, would not be that simple.

After all, this was a lawless cultivation world, where the strong eat the weak and might makes right. Without strength, you could be killed by others, and nobody would be able to save you.

Fortunately, his parents had previously purchased a residence in Misty Cloud City, providing him with a place to stay. Otherwise, with his level of cultivation, he would definitely have been driven out of Misty Cloud City, homeless.

So even though he saw these young beauties as charming and lovely, he was too unfortunate to enjoy it, for his home was so poor that it was nearly out of rice.

Thinking of this, Zhou Sui hastened his steps, swiftly leaving Hundred Flowers Tower and returning to his residence.

"Oh, my good nephew, you're back. Have you given any thought to what we discussed last time?"

At this moment, a sly-looking middle-aged man approached with a smile, speaking amiably to Zhou Sui.

"Uncle Liu, let's drop it. This residence is what my parents left for me, and I'd rather not sell it."

Zhou Sui immediately recognized the identity of the middle-aged man in front of him, who was named Liu Dong, a long-time friend of his deceased parents.

However, after his own parents died, Liu Dong's attitude changed. He tried to persuade him to sell the house, saying that he had connections and could bribe the stewards of the Immortal Mist Sect so that he could join and become an Outer Disciple.

It was well known that the Immortal Mist Sect was the dominant Sect within tens of thousands of miles, and its Sect Master was a Golden Core Cultivator with unmatched power. To become a disciple of the Immortal Mist Sect, even just an Outer Disciple, would indeed be ascending to the heavens in a single step.

But Zhou Sui, having lived two lives, could clearly see through Liu Dong's intentions. If joining the Immortal Mist Sect had been so easy, Liu Dong would have already done so. How could it be his turn?

The old man's words were nothing more than covetousness for his estate. Should Zhou Sui really sell the house, the Spirit Stones he would gain would most likely end up in this greedy old man's hands.

Then whether he lived or died would be uncertain.

So how could he naively fall for the other party's scheme?

"Ah, my wise nephew, you really should think this over. If you miss this opportunity, there won't be another chance. This is an opportunity your uncle has found for you with great difficulty."

Liu Dong still kept trying to persuade him, "Given your Spiritual Root Aptitude, if you rely solely on individually cultivating, you'll probably have no hope of reaching Foundation Establishment in this lifetime, but if you join the Immortal Mist Sect, perhaps there's a slim chance you could reach the path to immortality."

"No, no, I have no delusions about the path to immortality. Now I am the sole survivor of the Zhou family, the only one left in nine generations. My parents wished for me to live a safe life and to carry on the Zhou family lineage. As for cultivation, I'll just go with the flow."

Zhou Sui waved his hand dismissively.

He did not say much to Liu Dong and immediately returned to his own home.

Truth be told, he was not afraid of Liu Dong laying a hand on him. After all, Misty Cloud City was famously known as a city of Loose Cultivators, with a history of one hundred and twenty years, and was supported by a Foundation Builder.

Many Loose Cultivators lived there, maintaining the order of the place. If anyone dared to make a move within the city, they would definitely be noticed, and the offender would surely be doomed.

"What!"

Liu Dong's face shifted between shades of doubt and resolve, but he still dared not take action and could only watch helplessly as Zhou Sui entered the house.

"Tsk, Liu Dong, it seems your nephew doesn't trust you very much. Want me to make a move for you?"

At that moment, another middle-aged cultivator emerged from the shadows, his face grim and his aura murderous. He was clearly a Robbing Cultivator, one who had killed many.

"Shut up. Do you dare to make a move in Misty Cloud City?"

Liu Dong snorted coldly upon hearing this.

"What!"

The middle-aged cultivator was left speechless. Truthfully, he did not dare to make a move; he didn't want to die. He had grand ambitions, and perhaps a future hope of Foundation Establishment.

If he really made a move here, he would just be perishing alongside a petty youth, and he was not that stupid.

"Just a small fry at the first layer of Qi Cultivation, what's there to worry about? Moreover, with his Ninth Grade Spiritual Root, it would be good enough if he could advance to the Qi Cultivation Sixth Layer before fifty. He won't pose a threat to us for a long time."

Liu Dong sneered: "We don't need to rush this. Just take it slowly. This estate is worth thousands of Spirit Stones. If we get our hands on it, I might be able to advance to the eighth or even ninth layer of Qi Cultivation quite soon."

A glint of ambition flashed in his eyes.

"Jie Jie, I didn't expect you to be so ruthless. Weren't you the friend of his parents?"

The middle-aged cultivator laughed sinisterly.

"Heh, they were nothing more than acquaintances. Even among friends, there are those who would abandon their wives and children for the path to immortality. What of it?"

Liu Dong was dismissive: "We can't make a move in Misty Cloud City. Let's find a pretext to lure this boy out of Misty Cloud City. Then, unnoticed by gods and ghosts, we could take care of him."

Having said that, the two quickly left.

426: 272 Ch. So far, the novel has significant flaws. If it could be summarized in simple steps, things have been as follows: 1.He finds a woman he wants to brainwash. 2.The place where he is undergoes a change (caused by the appearance of a treasure for some reason). 3.He decides to stay within the safety of his refuge. 4.By sheer luck, treasures he didn’t bother to seek come to his doorstep effortlessly. 5.He creates a new creature with insane abilities (something he doesn’t fully exploit). This cycle repeats again and again throughout the story so far. The Protagonist's Attitude He’s entirely afraid of getting involved in treasure hunts and fights. If fights do occur, the MC never fights directly but uses his clones instead (a typical case of fearing that stepping out of the sect will result in a stronger cultivator killing him for no reason). The protagonist mentions that in his past life, he was an otaku/hikikomori, which heavily influences his decision-making. I can’t help but compare him to Rudeus from Mushoku Tensei, a character with a similar background: someone with no purpose in society is transported to another world. But unlike our beloved bug-lover, Rudeus undergoes character development, stepping out of his comfort zone to face the new reality he finds himself in. #HateTurtles... Brainwashing In this story, there isn’t just one form of brainwashing; in my view, there are almost two sequential types. The first occurs when the MC triggers love in the love interests. The second comes with the “infection” of the protagonist’s unpleasant attitude, which erases the individual qualities of the love interests over time. The protagonist is like an amorphous blob that absorbs and destroys everything it touches. I’m not entirely against brainwashing. Using any “golden finger” to survive in a brutal new world is logical. However, the previously mentioned changes are what irritate me. Luck As mentioned in Step 4, the protagonist is excessively lucky to the point of exhaustion. He doesn’t have permanent enemies—just walking money bags delivered to his door. Those annoying characters? Remember the guy chasing the "beauty" or that relative (cough cough father) or other entity opposing the MC's union with said beauty? Well, if they exist, wait for their death because they’ll never harm the MC. It feels like the author simply eliminates them, so don’t expect plots or anything like that. Brief Mention of Positives The story seems to show glimpses of solid world-building. Kingdom-building elements are relatively well-executed. Fights are decent. Like sugar-free soda—more or less satisfying. Finally, other sources mention that the protagonist’s character changes slightly later on and that some positive aspects of the story improve. However, as the saying goes, “Seeing is believing,” said the blind man. I hope they keep releasing more chapters. It’s not the best novel I’ve read, but I’m curious about the new bugs and waifus that will appear. Sincerely, A man who enjoys harems.

It's nothing special. The MC's golden finger is ridiculously overpowered, but he doesn't fully exploit it, which is pretty frustrating. He collects women, but they serve no real purpose in the story other than acting as cultivation furnaces to speed up his progress. They add nothing to the plot or character development. The novel is also filled with unnecessary filler. Every chapter wastes about a quarter of its length on background characters yapping about nothing important. It adds absolutely nothing to the story. On top of that, the MC has an insanely overpowered clone ability. He can create around 100 clones, each retaining 100% of his original strength. But guess what? He barely uses it. The only thing he does with it is send one clone out to search for treasures. When facing large groups of enemies, he never takes advantage of his clones at all. Later on, when demons invade the human world and far outnumber the humans, the MC acts all worried despite how brokenly powerful he is. It’s like he doesn’t even realize his own strength. I could go on, but let’s move on. The characters are completely shallow. Every enemy acts the same, fights the same way, and repeats the same lines. It gets so repetitive that I end up skipping fights altogether. Everything feels artificial and one-dimensional, almost like the MC is in a dream where everything conveniently works in his favor. I have to admit, the beginning was good and had potential. But after chapter 300, and now at chapter 584, every arc and event feels like a repetitive cycle. The story and writing never evolve beyond a flat, one-dimensional experience. Overall, this novel had promise, but it eventually became dull and predictable, both in storytelling and writing quality.
