Chapter 15

The wall domineered the buildings around it and loomed over them. He lead her to an iron gate.

"This is know as the iron wall. Even though it's made of stone it's as hard as iron almost impenetrable. Inside is different manors all housing noble families at the centre is the castle housing the royal family. This wall serves two purposes. One to keep out unwelcome visitors and two if the city were to be attacked the citizens will seek refuge here and it will become a stronghold."

He seemed to be answering the question on her mind without her having to ask.

"Is the country often at war?"

It was the first time she had ever considered such a thing. Where she lived it was quiet and peaceful and although she often went to the pier it was no where near the actual town itself so all of this was new to her because the pier was on the other side of her forest.

"We are living in peaceful times thankfully. So there has been no wars or invasions or anything like that for nearly 20 years now."

She looked at him feeling like there was more to that story but she guessed there wasn't time for that just now. He led her to an iron door next to the gate and he pulled out a key and opened the door. She stepped through the door to be greeted by a tall man with scales and serpent eyes. He moved closer to her a forked tounge protruding from his lips. He sneered..

"What do we have here..?"

Before she could reply James stood in front of her almost like he was shielding her from this man's view.

"She's with me Severus. I would appreciate it if you could not gaze at her as if you were about to devour her."

The man known as Severus stood straight. He was taller than James but he was more slender almost like he would break if a strong gust blew the wrong way.

"Very well I'll let you be on your way then."

James grabbed her hand again and pulled her past him keeping her close. As she looked back she saw him looking at her...that look...he looked...hungry...

She shuddered and turned back. The view that lay before her was breathtaking...
