Author's Note: I'm just making this novel on a whim, so maybe don't expect too much.

Xerotia[Author]: I think maybe some people might have gotten confused in the last chapter where I used both names of Toni and Ray, and it was slightly confusing for me as well, so from now onwards, I will only use the name Ray Penber.

Sorry for the long message, but it's important.

[Location: Penber Estate, Ravenholm Island, West Blue]

[Year: 1500]

Almost seven years have passed since I've been reincarnated into this world, and well, unlike many other stories of reincarnation I read, I had a pretty smooth life so far. Loving and responsible parents, rich and powerful family, loyal subordinates, and good friends. Yes, you heard that right, I have friends. Of course I do, I'm not some emo like a certain Sas*ke.

Although, initially I became friends with those whose parents were important colleagues and subordinates of my father. But there also those who I became friends due to their straightforwardness, or/and intelligence.

But that's a story for another time. For now, Ray's father called me to his office, Ray explained, to the air in front of him.(*breaking the 4th wall*)

As he stood outside the imposing door which led into his father's office, he knocked softly, knowing that father knew he was outside.

"Come in." His father responded, as Ray pushed open the heavy door and walked inside, wondering why it was so heavy.

He walked over to a plush sofa, present on the side of the room and sat down, looking around the room, one that he always wanted to see, but was never allowed to enter...that is, until today.

The room had a simple feel to it... functional, you could say. But on taking a closer look, one would realize that it was a room filled with opulence, with gold everywhere, from lining on the vases and curtains, to golden goblets, silver ceremonial cutlery and expensive wine bottles present inside shelves and showcases.

The main attraction of the room was definitely the chandelier present on the ceiling in the middle of the room, made of crystals and rubies and diamonds, shining from the sunlight.

At last, after taking in the sight for a few minutes, Ray finally looked towards his father, who sat behind a large, gold lined mahogany desk, with papers all over it, and an ash tray present on the side for his father's and a small decorated box present next to it.

His father sat on a large, plush leather chair, and possessed an imposing air, with a cigar in his mouth, smoke wafting in the sunlight, his face, looking exactly the same as he did almost 7 years ago, on the day Ray was born.

"How's the office, Ray? Does it satisfy your curiosity and expectations?" he said, smiling at Ray.

"Hmm...it's looks very functional, as well was regal, at the same time... but you didn't call me here just for a tour of this room, yes?", Ray replied, curious on why he was suddenly called to his office.

"Ray, in a few days, it will be your 7th birthday. As tradition, you will officially be introduced and will have to perform the initiation ceremony on front of my colleagues, subordinates, and to all the Familia in general.", he said, a serious look in his eyes.

"Initiation ceremony?"

"Yes, but I can't tell you what it is, as you are not allowed to prepare for it in advance. Just remember, it is essential for you to pass the initiation in order to be more involved in the Family's business and to eventually hold a position of power." he continued, looking straight into Ray's eyes, looking for any signs of anxiety, but only found confidence, excitement, and also, a trace of disdain that Ray tried to hide, but could not escape his father's refined senses.

"You seem to dislike it... why is that?" he questioned, curious.

"I just feel like it's too old fashioned, the times are changing, and so must we, to prevent being left behind in the past." Ray explained.

"Hmm... that makes sense, these truly are turbulent times... perhaps we must truly pursue change if we wish to preserve our power and safety..." his father mused.

"Well, anyway, I've said what I needed to you, if you have any questions you van ask them, if not, you can leave." he stated as he puffed his cigar, the smoke spreading across the room.

Ray wrinkled his nose upon inhaling the smoke, not liking it before looking at his father.

"Dad, didn't mom tell you to stop smoking? Should I go tell mom? " he said, smiling evilly at his father.

As he heard Ray, the color drained away from his face, his eyes widened with fear, and dropped the cigar before panicking and shrieking at Ray:" No, no ,no... you don't have take such drastic steps, do want to see me get tortured by your mother?! "

Then looking at his son's cruel and evil smiling face, he sighed.

"Fine... I'll bribe you.. what do you want?"

"You're quick to understand dad? As expected of my father" Ray joked before relaxing his chin on his hand, and thought for a few seconds, finally coming up with nothing.

"Let me think about it... Can I use this to ask you what the trial will be?"

"I can't tell you that."

"Even if the alternative is for mom to find out you're still smoking?"

"...No comment."

"Haha, alright, since I don't have anything else I really need right now, I'll save that wish for later."

"Very well."

"Alright then, I'm going to leave then. You continue with your work dad...and by the way... why is this door so heavy?!"

"The door is heavy because it has a metal plate inside to stop bullets from penetrating inside. It's a safety measure."

"A safety measure?...alright then, bye dad. And stop smoking." Ray said as he left the room, closing the door behind him.

Recalling the scenes that just occured, Antonio Penber looked down at his cigar, before sighing and putting it out in the crystal ashtray.

"How is my son so... cunning. Sometimes, he doesn't act like a child of his age at all... I wonder... could it be... reincarnation?"

"...Nah."
