Chapter 166: Mythical History II

...........

"The Sea God, if it has a name, I don't know it, but I know it to be so enormous and majestic that it can envelop the entire planet... Just like it's doing now."

"Huh? Say what?" The Strangers were awestruck, stunned as his words were simply too shocking if true, but they had some doubts.

If the Sea God is truly so enormous that it's enveloping the entire planet, then where is it? How come they never heard of it? And so many more questions.

"Beneath," Yovan stated as he pointed downwards with a smile, "The Sea God is right at this very moment deep, very deep in the sea, biting into the roots of one of these trees which sustains it."

"Oh! Ah, I understand! The sea god is sucking away the Tree's lifeforce, that's why it's dying?" Pudding loudly speculated.

"Yes, I believe it's far beneath u right now, its body likely hidden by rocks, seaweeds, and the such... or there is another red line beneath the sea," Yovan nodded, "Well, part of its body. I believe that the majority of its body is within the Red Line.

It's sealed within the Red Line, starting from the beginning of reverse mountain to its end, so a circle around the planet."

"Huh? How could it be within Reverse mountain and here at the same time?" Laffitte questioned, knowing that Reverse Mountain is relatively far away from here.

"Because the sealing process didn't go too well. It was supposed to hold the Sea god within, allowing it to slowly die, but finding most of its body sealed within the red line, it could only lunge at the world tree, seeking solace in its grandeur."

"Come to think of it, the red line is indestructible, and I noticed that its existence is an anomaly," Laffitte pointed out, "There is evidence that The Red Line has not always been there and is an unnatural structure."

"There is?" Kaku curiously asked.

"Yeah," Laffitte nodded before explaining, "I noticed it when we were leaving the Fishmen Island. The biggest clue is the whales there. They have scars on their head from running into the red line repeatedly, suggesting they used this as a migration path, something ingrained into them from centuries past, as whales' long migrations are one of their most notable characteristics."

"Now that we have established that, let's return to who sealed the Sea God and why... It's night now, so look up... What do you see?" Yovan said, not only speaking to the Strangers but also to the Pantheon.

Indeed, all the gods of the Pantheon were listening to Yovan's voice, all at the same time, and those who had access to the dark sky looked up... They saw mostly darkness, some tiny stars in the sky, and the moon.

"The moon," Yovan stroked his moon earring as he continued, "The moon is only one of six moons that once orbited the planet.

It's something that I just confirmed as I read through the library of the giants, specifically, the remnant books recovered from the Ohara incident. The researchers of Ohara had already uncovered this fact."

"There were six moons?" Reiju found her comprehension challenged as she looked at the sky, so where are the other moons?"

The Strangers were doubtful as they had never seen more than one moon in the sky at the same time. Do moons just suddenly vanish for centuries?

"The other moons... They're the ground you stand upon, stood upon, and will stand upon... All Islands in the world are pieces of collapsed moons." Yovan explained with a brilliant smile.

"..."

"..."

"..."

All the listeners found themselves speechless, bar none. They realized why Yovan called history a Mythical History... The words coming out of his mouth were truly mythical and fascinating.

"The planet we live on is very big, way bigger than the moons with ample resources, resources the inhabitants of the moons didn't have or were slowly running out of.

You all should understand, fights for territories, and resources, its things that happen every single second of every day. The ancients were no different, so the inhabitants of the moons invaded.

The first race to invade might have been the Lunarian race, I'm not totally certain as some other race might have invaded and weakened the Fishmen and the forces of the sky.

Either way, the result of the invasion of the Lunarian race was the construction of the red line after the enslavement of the Fishmen." Yovan stopped, seeing the confusion of the onlookers.

"How was the red line built? And what about the Sky forces, Poseidon, and Uranus?" Kalifa curiously asked.

"The Fishmen may have respected and worshiped the Sea God, but I think Uranus feared it. It's, after all, the Sea God, not the Sky God. It may also be that Uranus was too ambitious." It almost looked like he ignored her question at first, but things slowly started to make sense.

"Uranus worked with the Lunarians, betraying his own planet, and perhaps manipulating Poseidon, working with the Lunarians to seal the Sea God, thus allowing the Lunarians to settle on the red line."

He noticed their confusion again, but he still continued calmly, "That age might as well be called the first Age Of Chaos as I believe there were other races from other moons who resisted the Lunarians.

However, before them, we should make some things clear, the Lunarians were the most advanced of the races, and they were the creators of Pluton.

That and the combination of Uranus and Poseidon may be able to control even a creature as mythical as the Sea God, although not perfectly, evident by the collapse of five moons.

It might have taken them a long time to fully seal the Sea God, and in its rampage, it only left one moon intact.

I also believe one of the collapsed moons to be the source of the red line, using its almost indestructible rocks to seal the Sea God, only for the latter to clutch on a lifeline, the World Tree."

A look of 'Oh! Now it makes sense' surfaced on the faces of the Strangers, and those listening from the Pantheon, somewhat in a trance at how much information was fed to them in such a short while.

"Then the war started, the survivors of the collapse of the moons formed an alliance to fight against the Lunarians... An Alliance that goes by the symbol of D, perhaps signifying one of the lunar cycles." Yovan stopped there and gave the listeners time to think things through.

"The D? So that's what it means," Kalifa blinked in understanding, "Does it signify the collapse of the moons? Their remains which might have been in that shape?"

"Or perhaps the moons or one of the moons was in its first quarter phase before its destruction?" Viola speculated before glancing at Yovan, eagerly awaiting his answer.

"The leader of the alliance was the man known as Joy Boy, a free soul, someone who may have been a pirate before there were pirates, and he led the alliance to bring down the Lunarians," Yovan explained.

"Those with the D in their names should have been part of the alliance, an alliance of all races who only seek peace and coexistence, but to attain peace, there needs to be war.

The Lunarians took the Fishmen as slaves, and they basically ruled over the world or at least were trying to. Their goals differed greatly from those of the Alliance of the D.

It was at this point in time or a little bit before that the inhabitants of the world noticed something very odd... Strange fruits started appearing throughout the World, fruits that can grant one strange power... Devil fruits."

The Strangers noticed a wide smile emerging on Yovan's face as he continued, "However, they were called Devil Fruits at the time, but simply thought of as blessings of the Sea God."

"Wait... They appeared sometime after the Sea God was sealed. Don't tell me?" Viola asked, somewhat stunned, such a mythical story was starting to make a little bit too much sense.

"The Sea God bit the World Tree to sustain itself. When this happened, the serpent's power transferred through the trees and was birthed in fruit bore all over the world.

Eating these fruits then grants you the power of the serpent but also its weakness, the fact that it's currently paralyzed within the water."
