One Last Merchant

Magic is not real. Monster that defy logics should not exist. Yet, I cannot refute what is before my very eyes. What my mangled body has told me through painful experiences. What my dying mind has comprehended with my last willpower. The world that I have once lived in changed abruptly one day, and the new era dawned for the human race. It is done by the hands of those who are known as Rulers. They call it mercy, but I know it is a game to them. If they truly wish to help the human race, then there surely a better way than sacrificing billions to uplift the selected few. The Zoning Events was set in stone, and the dimensional barrier collapses, allowing the monsters that we could never hope to defeat with our current technology to enter our universe. Allowing horrifying worlds and landscapes to merge with our own. And through blood, sweat, and fear, we understand that our science cannot truly surpass the natural law of the universe. Only through magic, the human race might survive. Only through magic, a better future can be reached. Everything has its price, and no price is too great for the second chance. This is the story of the last Merchant. One Last Merchant. *** Disclaimer: This story contains graphical sex scenes and depictions of torture! Please enjoy! What Lies Deep Beneath

But that is not nearly enough. I need more money. Much, much more money!

Luckily, someone interrupts me. A bunch of people actually, and I look towards them along with Alex, Thomas and the girls. Those people are obviously running towards their cars, all in order to get as far away from here as possible. Sadly, the monsters are every where within the Life Zone because people are everywhere.

Therefore, there is nowhere to run. Not really.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! This cannot be happening. This cannot be happening," one of them curses, and from the blood on his clothes, he has survived a close encounter. And the reason that the monsters are not hunting him or his friends, is probably because they are contented right now.

But that could change very quickly. "I got to get home to my sister. I hope she's okay."

"Fuck your sister!" one of his buddies shouts. "We need guns! Lots and lots of guns to take down these motherfuckers! They just stole my bitch, and no one steals my bitch!"

They manage to get to their cars and begins to drive off. I notice the crack on the pavements grow as they have done so. Thomas notices it too and questions me about it since it is the same in the yard.

I sigh and eye him. "Look man. Even though I have seen the future, I do not know everything. However, I do have a bad feeling about that, and it is why we should not be using a car. It is better to be on foot, as sneaking around without bringing attention is much safer."

Against zombies horde, that is true. Against these monsters, it is not always true, but I believe it is still much better than using a car and attracting attention. Vehicles are actually quite noisy.

"Hey Zan. Your crush is here," Alex informs me, and I follow his gaze towards another group escaping into the parking lots. Another group is behind them, and another group is behind that one.

"Get your ass in the car, Lisa," James orders as his car slows down near her. The backseats are occupied with his buddies, and they look like they have fought their way out of hell. Utterly exhausted.

"James… can my friends come with?" Lisa questions and gestures at her girlfriends. From their clothes, they are all on the same cheerleading squad.

"Squeeze in," James agrees and turns his attention to his buddies. "Make some room, fuckers."

Those guys grumpily obey, making rooms for the girls to squeeze in. Several of the girls express disgust since there are bloods all over the seat. One of them even makes a comment about it, irking James.

"Tell your friend that if she doesn't like it, she can walk," James retorts and steps on the pedal, causing the car to speed away. The roaring sounds of the engine causes fissure to form all over the pavements, and within those cracks, I notice some sort of moving vines. Or maybe roots?

"Identify," I request under my breath, and a window appear above ground. I manage to read it before it speeds away, chasing after James and the gang at an alarming speed.

"Swamp Roots?" Thomas asks since he also manage to read the inscription. "Is it what I think it is?"

"Yes, and we have to get out of here now. That is just one of its roots, and the real body is right below us," I call out and immediately run off. It is really not possible to fight something that can burrow right through the earth with ease. Not right now at least.

I hope that you enjoy the chapter.
