Alliance

Another bombshell statement made by Lucifer crashed onto the field. The only difference this time was that the angels were much more composed albeit still shaken.

"So you are saying you purposely gave different orders to your whole army and waited for us, alone?" Raphael looked at him with eyes of ridicule.

"I know your whole point of existence is to represent pride. However, pride is not delusion so what is this surprising lack of survival instinct? What happened to your intelligence that allowed you to sabotage the wheel of reincarnation? The Duke of Pride should have something to be prideful of, no? So where is proud might?"

Raphael continued to hurl insults at Lucifer, who mostly ignored her comment but one particular line caught his interest, causing him to

'Sabotaging the wheel of reincarnation? I don't remember doing something like that but interesting… Heh, so even the gods cannot simply construct a new body for a soul to inhabit. Or maybe they tried to make his rebirth more natural so they messed with the wheel of reincarnation.

Either way, it is quite pleasant to know that the wheel of reincarnation can be tampered with. I wonder…'

"I can assure you, I'm fully capable of beating all of you right here and right now." Lucifer taunted, triggering a couple of seraphs in particular.

Uriel, Azrael, and Sariel's eyes flashed with fury as they again charged straight at Lucifer.

What little distance between them was crossed in an instant by Uriel and Azrael, and with a brilliant dual combo, they hacked at Lucifer.

With the previous buffs and the phantom flame canceled, their damage output was low but nonetheless harmful.

Lucifer grunted as he felt 2 cold blades piercing through his very being.

He did not try to block it as him getting thrashed around was essential to his plans.

'Angels… Probably the easiest race to lure in.' He snickered.

'Just a couple of insults towards someone important and they go apeshit. Fortunately for me, unfortunately for them though, angels are not built to be berserk. They are not meant to be mindless anti-demon slaughterers even though it somehow turned out that way.

They are supposed to represent all the 'good' stuff about a sentient being. They are truthful, loyal and caring. Their most important trait though, is their faith.

Their faith in their god. Their faith in one another, their faith in their own strength and faith in their leader, Michael.

If you can just piss off certain hot headed individuals and make them have an outburst, then others will back out and try to get control of the situation back.'

And his wisdom proved correct, as Seraphile and Michael cried out for the duo to stop.

"Halt your weapons!" Michael ordered.

The sister seraphs begrudgingly ceased their barrage of attacks, as Lucifer crouched down in pain.

"Ha…ha… Hurts like fuck." He silently muttered.

"Now you are pissing me off. Why are you stopping me, Michael!" Uriel roared at her leader.

"I stopped you because I wanted to prevent you from going overboard." He says.

"If Seraphile's revival was truly an action of a god at our reconciliation, then killing Lucifer would be defiling that action.

If we kill him, he cannot be revived. It is doubtful that a god will give us a 3rd chance so it is better not to risk it.

However, if he is still alive then we can always kill him later. After all, we have got the demon lord surrounded are we not?"

With her order to kill taken away, Uriel walks up to Lucifer and hits him with the sheath of her sword.

"Enough of your talk, where is your army?" She demanded from Lucifer.

He stared at her and opened his mouth.

"What do you plan to do with my army?" He asked.

"To stop them obviously! Who do you think we are!"

"That won't do. Didn't know angels were this selfish." Lucifer lamented.

"To think the race that was meant to represent all the good traits of a living consciousness is this ungrateful and hypocritical. We poor demons have been oppressed for more than a millenia! Oh, great demon god. Please take pity for your child-"

"And what the fuck are you spewing now?"

Azrael shut him up with a scythe to the right side of his face, causing him to yolt back in pain.

"What I am saying is, you had a whole damned god reviving your beloved brother but you won't do shit about it!" Lucifer exclaimed in frustration.

"Learn how to say thank you!"

The angels remained silent on this matter. They were grateful to the demon god for the second chance they had given their brother and wanted to offer something in return.

The question was that would they be willing to break their nature just to pay of a debt?

"What makes you think that the god would appreciate a whole world being offered to them! And a world that has been conquered by force no less."

"It's a demon god, who cares. We sacrifice plenty of newcomer souls for them at regular intervals and they don't even bat an eye." Lucifer replied back.

"Whatever, I have made my point clear. Now, what is your answer?" Lucifer stood up and glared at Michael with a smug smirk.

"I will be going now and don't try stopping me. If you have a change of mind, then come to Gaia immediately. I guess a proper gateway would have been established by then."

He flashed another glance at Seraphile, further crippling any dignity he had left.

He turned to his brother. "Brother! You need to stop Lucifer, he can't just use me as an excuse and conquer Gaia!"

Michael looked at him with a weary look.

"I know brother. I know."

'If only you knew your value in our lives.' Michael thought.

Michael flew high and yelled out loud for any angel to hear.

"Once the demons have established a proper connection with Gaia, we will descend down there and properly compensate the demon god for returning our brother back to us!"

The unlikely alliance between the sibling races had been formed, and Gaia will soon experience a disastrous invasion.

This arc is ending pretty soon although it stretched on longer than I would have liked.

If you think that the angel's actions are unlogical, think of them as a shonen protagonist.
