MONDAY

The sun shine bright into the small house where Valeria and her parents are sleeping peacefully, Valeria struggle to open her eye and finally did after rubbing it, she pray and stand up to use the bathroom. Coming back from the bathroom, her parents were awake.

"Good morning Father, Mother" She greeted with a smile

"Good morning dear, how was your night" Geraldine greeted back with a smile

"It was amazing and I'm so excited to go to the University today" Valeria said smiling

"I'm excited too, I took a day off from the company on Saturday" Mark said smiling.

"I will leave you two to it, I will prepare breakfast" Geraldine said and leave for the kitchen. Mark is strict with his children but ever since the day Valeria got here and they found out about where he's living, he decided to be more relating to them. Valeria is yet to get used to it.

"Time really flies when you're with your family" Mark said smiling and hoping he spends more time with them instead of 84 days in a year holidays inclusive

"Yes father" Valeria replied smiling

"Monday is here so quickly and I'm excited" Valeria added not wanting him to be uncomfortable

"Yes child, while your mother cooks breakfast I will use the bathroom" He said and leave. Valeria watch him leave and smile, she pick up her phone to chat with her friends who she has been unable to chat with since she got to Chicago. She dedicated her time to the little family time they had during the weekend, after her arrival, the next day she and her mother went to the factory where she buys cloth from and she chose nice wears for her mother to sell. On Sunday, the family went to church in the morning and a tour around the street enjoying the sight and peaceful breeze of a Sunday afternoon.

The friends continue chatting, they are not best friends but they sure do own a place in each others life and heart. Breakfast was ready and the family ate peacefully. Mark colleague whose way is the university way dropped them off and they walk to the school financial aid office, Mark knock softly on the door and a feminine voice ask them to come in. A woman probably in her late fifties sits on a swivel chair that the last man was sitting on, she smile at them when she looked up.

"You can have your sit" The woman said pointing to the two swivel chair in front of her

"Good morning ma'am" Valeria and her father greeted in unison

"Good morning. You are?" The woman said smiling

"She's Valeria, a scholarship student, we came here on Friday and the man that attended to us asked us to come today to sign all necessary paperwork" Mark explained

"Oh that's good" The woman said and click something on the keyboard

"Her name isn't in the scholarship list" The woman said still looking at the monitor

"But the man confirmed her name, Melvin Valeria Grace, he called her name out himself" Mark said panicking

"Don't panic Mr Melvin. Do you have your scholarship letter?" The woman said softly

"Yes ma'am" Valeria said in a low voice that shows she's unhappy and gives the woman her scholarship letter. The woman read the scholarship letter and smile.

"Mr Melvin, the error is from the last person that attended to you, we are deeply sorry" The woman said realising her name was edited off the list

"He deleted her name? What has she ever done to him? Ever since the last time we were here he has been acting strange, is it because we are not rich?" Mark said angrily

"It's fine Father, let's do other things instead of fight, the culprit himself isn't here" Valeria said to her father not wanting him to prolong the matter

"I'm sorry about that Mr Melvin, he will be deeply punished I promise" The woman replied calming the situation

"Do you know the scholarship only covers the tuition fee, school related expenses without accommodation?" The woman asked still working on the computer

"Yes ma'am, he said so the last time" Valeria replied knowing her father is still angry

"Okay, you will submit this to the admission office after filling up your information" The woman said giving her a form to fill

"Make sure you fill in correct information and choose your course right" The woman said and Valeria nodded

"What will you be studying?" The woman asked Valeria who is now filling the form with her father

"Biological Science" Valeria replied smiling

"Wow that's nice then I have something for you" The woman said and pick up her bag searching for something.

"Here it is" She said giving Valeria a flyer

"Career in biological science summit" Valeria read it out loud

"Yes dear, it's happening tomorrow. You can attend to have more knowledge about the course you are about to choose" The woman said

"Okay ma'am, I will apply and make sure I attend" Valeria replied happily

"Thank you for this ma'am" Mark who has been quietly nursing his anger finally said

"It's nothing. About her accommodation please look for a place for her to stay so she can start preparing" The woman said

"I will. Do you have anywhere to recommend? I mean within the campus" Mark asked and Valeria looked at him. She thought she would be staying at his house.

"Yes, the female hostel Max Pelevsky Residential" The woman replied and give Mark a flyer on her table.

"Thank you ma'am" Mark said checking the flyer

"I'm done filling the form ma'am" Valeria announced

"You can leave now, make sure to submit it at the admission office and also bring a copy here" The woman said. Valeria and her father thanked the woman for being generous towards them and helping them when they needed help. The father and daughter leave the office to go to the admission office, she submitted the form, it was stamped and photocopied for her. She took a copy to the school financial aid office, they leave the school after making enquires about the female hostel.
