Chapter 2: Weak

Walking out of a plane, a man with short white hair, a scruffy beard, and bags under his black eyes walks to the airport looking like he has lost the world.

Daiki Kaneki was a man who worked for his family as best as he could. Sure, he wouldn't be around as much anymore, but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make for his family. When working overseas, he got a phone call saying his wife and son were in the hospital and their house burned down.

He arrived back to Japan with a feeling of hopelessness, wondering if his actions were the right choice, wondering if he should have stayed home. He just wanted to see his family and hold them tightly, never letting go.

He arrived at the hospital with a tired look and waited for the doctor to guide him to his family only to be approached by detectives. "Mr Kaneki, correct?" A man wearing a trench coat, gloves, and a hat, spoke to him. Daiki nods his head and the man continues "I'm detective Naomasa and I wanted to inform you on what happened to your family" the detective began explaining the situation to the already mentally tired man and there was a pause.

Daiki lifts his head and speaks, "And how are they?" he asks with a tired tone "your wife Haru Kaneki was burned in the fire but we believe she was already dead by then, and your son seem to have activated his quirk and killed three if not four of the men present" Daiki rubs his face trying his best to understand why his wife would do such a thing to him and begins to worry for his son seeing he had to kill at such a young age.

He gets up and takes a deep breath. "Take me to my son," he says, bracing himself for what could happen. Ken wakes up to a cold and white room, he looks around and sees he's in a hospital room "I hate it here" he says remembering all the times he or his family came here only to always get bad news. He gets up and looks out the window, wondering if he could have stopped it, wondering if he should have taken the hit instead of his mother.

He hears the door open and turns to see his father looking at him. At first, he was happy to see his father again. Now that he was back, everything will be fixed, right? But the look he was giving him angered him, "don't look at me like that" he says with a scowl on his face, he jumps out of bed and runs to his father quirk activated, he jumps into the air and attacks his father only for him to block with his arm looking the same as Ken's quirk.

"DON'T GIVE ME THAT LOOK! AS IF IM WEAK, I TRIED, I REALLY DID!" he screams and cries damaging the room around them with his father using his quirk on both arms and deflecting every attack, "IT'S NOT MY FAULT OR MOM'S FAULT, IF YOU DIDNT LEAVE, WE WOULDN'T BE LIKE THIS, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE EVER HAPPENED!" His attacks got slower and weaker, all of his tendrils land softly on his father's arms, and he whispers."I'm not weak."

His father walks over to him and gently hugs him "your right, you're not weak, and I'm sorry." Ken, hearing that begins to cry himself to sleep once more, while his father held him tightly, silently crying from his failures.
