The Dowry

After hanging up the phone Ava looked at her mom and said happily, "Mom, Oliver invited you and dad for dinner in the evening. He said his parents and grandparents are also coming so you can meet them formally."

"That's good, I'd like to see how Oliver's parents really are." Lilly's hand holding the steering wheel got a little tighter.

"Mom, don't worry. Oliver's parents and grandparents are really good people."

Lilly glanced at Ava and asked surprised, "You have already met them?"

"Yes, a few times actually. Their families are very easy to get along with, especially his mother, I like her very much." Ava smile when remembered Ella's kind face.

"Silly girl, you can't see the real faces of some people. Now, they are probably nice to you but you don't know how they will treat you in the future."

"Mom, I am telling you, Oliver's family is not like that at all. They are very kind and down-to-earth. So you can relax." Ava said trying to reassure her mother.

Lilly narrowed her eyes and thought to herself how did Ava become like this? She wouldn't even listen to her own mother's warning, which really worried Lilly. What if she suffered because of trusting Oliver and his family so blindly? Was it really possible that the most renowned and powerful family in this city would be so humble and kind to her daughter? Lilly couldn't believe it. However, she didn't say anything else. She will see it for herself when she meets them tonight.

Lilly and Ava came to the most expensive furniture market in the city. Lilly was very happy thinking her only daughter was about to get married and have her own home. Although she was still not sure about the Knight family but she decided to put her doubts aside for the time being and shop for her daughter with an open mind. The mother and daughter started to roam around and Lilly chose a few most expensive pieces of furniture to buy for Ava's dowry.

However, before she could pay for them Ava stopped her and said, "Mom, we have all kinds of furniture in our villa. Don't buy them. It's a waste of money."

Lilly thought about it and realized Oliver was so rich of course he didn't lack anything in his house so after a careful thought Lilly said, "Then let's go and see baby some products and furniture. When your child will be born, you can use them for him."

Ava's eyes lit up, she nodded and said excitedly, "That's actually a very good idea mom. Let's go."

Ava and Lilly came to baby furniture city. Looking at the colorful cribs and baby toys, Ava was so excited that she felt like she would buy everything.

"Mom, it's lovely." Ava saw a light blue baby crib with the bedding and said with shining eyes.

Seeing how happy Ava was, Lilly immediately called the shop assistant and send it to the counter for checking out. They looked around some more and picked up some more newborn stuff. At that moment Ava's phone started to ring, it was Daniel!

Ava looked at her mother and said, "Mom I think it's enough for today, let's go and pay the bill."

As Lilly went to the counter Ava stepped aside and picked up the call, "Brother Daniel."

"Ava, I found the information you asked me to check. Melody's parents are in Lingyuan right now."

Ava was very surprised by Daniel's efficiency. She asked cheerfully, "really?"

"Yes, I am 100% sure, there is no mistake. They are definitely there."

"Brother Daniel, can you please accompany me to Guangde to see Melody's parents?" Ava said hesitantly. She knew Daniel was a busy person but she didn't know who else to ask. For some reason, she had a feeling if she asked Oliver he will not only deny her to accompany but also will stop her to see them.

"Of course, anytime you want to visit them just let me know I'll accompany you," Daniel said without any hesitation in his tone.

Ava smiled and said gratefully, "Thank you, sir."

"Silly girl, thank you for what? Are you outside right now?" Daniel heard noises coming from the phone so he asked.

Ava smiled and said, "Yes, my mother is buying me a dowry."

Daniel fell silent for a few seconds then said with a smile, "well, then I'll let you do your stuff. I will have to go back to work too."

Ava quickly said, "Sure, I'll let you go then. See you next Friday Brother Daniel."

"Yes," Daniel said lightly. Only he knew how much his heart was in pain at the thought of Ava getting married to someone else.

After hanging up the phone Ava came to her mother and saw everything was almost packed and paid ready to go. They happily put everything in the car and head home.
