Chapter 10: Battle (Re Uploaded)

As the clan members made their way toward the training grounds for the battle, Adrian was stopped by his father.

"You should attempt to conceal your kekkei genkai if you can." Oden said.

Adrian could tell his father was worried about his safety and being attacked so he smiled and said "I know. I'll make sure to beat him without it."

However Oden didn't smile as he said "Be careful of Kain as well. He's an extremely talented member of the younger generation."

"I got it dad, I can handle it." Oden finally smiled after this as he said " I believe in you son." The two then continued on there way to the training grounds.

As they reached the training ground, Adrian and Kain both entered into the ring.

"You know even if you lose I wont discriminate against you, I just dislike those who attempt to use their connections to get positions." Kain told Adrian.

"If you believe I don't have the strength to support my claim to the captain position then I can assure you that you are wrong," Adrian responded

Bost waited until Oden declared the beginning of the match, and only moved when they heard him shout.

"BEGIN"

Both jumped back to gauge the moves of their opponent as the biggest factor that decides the winner in ninja battles was information, something neither of them had about the other.

Both then started using handsigns as they both proclaimed-

"Fire style: Fireball Jutsu!"

"Water style: Water Bullet Technique!"

Both used ninjutsu as Adrian used water and Kain used fire, with steam rising due to the clash.

Applying lightning chakra to his feet, Adrian rushed toward Kain through the fog at extremely high speeds, catching Kain off guard and kicking him directly in the chest.

Kain flew back but did a flip to reposition himself back on his feet while clutching his ribs.

'How the hell is his body so strong, It's stronger than mine!' Kain thought as he grunted due to the pain.

Adrian did not let up as he immediately rushed towards him for an uppercut, however Kain was able to dodge as the attack grazed his cheek and counterattack with a knee straight into Adrian's stomach.

Adrian, instead of retraining, continued before transitioning into the clan's taijutsu form.

Seeing this, most of the elders on the side were shocked as based on the way he was positioned, he seemed extremely proficient in the clan's technique as if he was an experienced user of it.

The most shocked however seemed to be Kain as he could feel the threat coming from Adrian at this moment.

He immediately attempted to retreat but Adrian had already went on the offensive.

"Tiger's Claw!!" Kain screamed as he felt the attack hit him on his already injured chest, sending him flying out of the grounds and into a wall that seperated the training grounds.

Everyone was quiet as they stood in shock at what happened.

"The winner of this match is Adrian." The sound of Oden announcing the winner broke them all out of there stupor.

Many of them couldn't believe that Kain had lost so decisively.

But what shocked them more was what Adrian was walking toward Kain who was on the ground. Just as they were about to get involved, the elders gave them the sign to stop.

They all stood nervously as they wanted to see what Adrian would do next.

Adrian reached Kain and stared down at him as Kain could do nothing but look up at him due to his injuries.

Adrian then reached his hand towards Kain and spoke to all the clan members.

"As much as I can dislike you for attempting to challenge my position, the Shinobi World is cruel. Any of our enemies will kill us if we're not a member of their clan. So I don't have the patience to allow internal fights about who leads a simple mission. If we continue to act like fools and divide against each other then we will simply be wiped out. So I don't care if you dislike me or my upbringing, if you care about this clan, then assist me to continue to protect it. If you can do that, then any sacrifices made or those we have lost would not have died meaningless deaths." Adrian said.

The entire clan fell silent with their heads down, before they all looked up with a new glint in their eyes. Adrian words reminded them of what they were protecting and all those who had died to protect it. With most of the younger generation assisting Adrian in helping Kain get up, many of them also spoke to Adrian with newfound respect.

Oden simply stood on the side watching silently with a smile, as if he could already see the day when his son leads the clan to greatness.
