Chapter 09 - Naruto vs Itachi 01.

Third Person POV

Konoha.

Naruto showed parts of the sword that reflected some light from the flames created by the masked man, and a silence was established between the two parties at that moment. 

Itachi's expression was somewhat more complex, unsure if it was due to his pretense of being a power-hungry maniac or because Naruto was ready to make him pay for what he had done that night. Itachi had a somewhat penetrating look towards Naruto, as if trying to read and understand how the mind of that boy worked, very different from his brother or any young person of his age. 

Naruto, for his part, remained steadfast, although he noticed a subtle change in Itachi's posture. He was willing to fight against Itachi, after all, half of the clan was still alive, and he would not let Itachi finish his massacre, the motive behind which he still did not understand. 

Then, without warning, both moved almost simultaneously. Itachi, recognizing the potential threat Naruto represented, did not hesitate. With a fluid movement, he formed hand seals and released a Fire Jutsu, a torrent of flames advancing towards Naruto with voracious intensity. 

Naruto, seeing this, did not use the power of his sword but responded with his elemental agility. His body turned into light, allowing him to dodge the attack with ease, as it exploded in the debris and houses on the street. Naruto circled the wall of fire in a line of light, closing the distance between him and Itachi in the blink of an eye. With a precise movement, he extended his sword, aiming a strike that would have hit Itachi, but Itachi had already anticipated such a maneuver. 

In Itachi's place, Naruto cut only a log, with the Substitution Jutsu used at the last moment to escape the attack. The real Itachi reappeared a short distance away, his gaze still fixed on Naruto. There was no surprise in his eyes, just the recognition that Naruto was not an ordinary opponent. 

Itachi launched a rain of kunais that cut through the air towards Naruto, seeking to surprise the young man. However, Naruto turned towards the ninja knives. The kunais met his sword and clashed against the dozens of kunais, striking each with surgical precision. Itachi did not stop; he began to launch kunais and ninja stars, while Naruto continued moving his sword with Haki to stop all the projectiles. At one moment, Itachi threw a Kunai, bouncing one off another in a corner to catch Naruto in a blind spot, but he simply moved his arm and hit it aside without even looking at the kunai. 

"As I thought, you can't just detect people like a sensor; you can even predict an attack..." Itachi analytically said, looking at the boy in front of him. 

Naruto did not respond, just kicked the ground while his body turned into light and advanced towards Itachi. The Uchiha's eyes glowed with a strange hue, Itachi managed to anticipate Naruto's sword with his Mangekyo Sharingan. Even so, the young man did not hesitate, they quickly began to exchange blows. 

Their movements were fast, almost a blur to any spectator if there had been one. Itachi, with the eyes of the Sharingan analyzing and predicting Naruto's movements, tried to find an opening, while Naruto, guided by his Observation Haki, anticipated and reacted to Itachi's attacks with precision. 

This dance of strikes and counterstrikes made a sound of metal clashing, filling the air with it, while Naruto had his sword, Itachi used his Kunais to fend off the attacks. Sparks danced around the duo in a frenetic rhythm. At the climax of this duel, Itachi, rotating his eye following Naruto's movements, until he saw something strange emerge in the Uchiha's eye, it began to bleed. 

Naruto was surprised when a black fire emerged point-blank from him, feeling a certain danger from it, he did not think twice before his body turned into light and he distanced himself from it in seconds. 

The flames, known as Amaterasu, hit the ground where Naruto had been, and Itachi still looked at him with the same bleeding eye, with more black flames that sought to envelop Naruto, while Naruto managed to escape quite easily as his body dodged the flames wrapped in light.

Naruto, weary from the assault, pointed his finger at Itachi, and a lightning bolt shot from it, hitting the ground where Itachi was, taking some houses with it in an explosion that lit up the entire complex, creating a blast several tens of meters wide. 

Itachi appeared on the other side as he had performed the substitution jutsu. 

With the Amaterasu still burning in the background, Itachi took a brief pause to speak, "You see, Naruto, the power of the Uchiha eyes goes far beyond what most can imagine. The Amaterasu you just witnessed is just one of the several abilities granted by these eyes," explained Itachi, his own eyes reflecting the black flames he had summoned with the same tone of madness as before. 

"Not ordinary flames, I admit," He admitted, looking at the flames that seemed not to extinguish. 

"The Amaterasu burns everything until nothing remains, consuming its target with black flames that cannot be extinguished by normal means. It is one of the most feared abilities of the Mangekyō Sharingan. This is my power now!" As Itachi declared his ability, a sudden glimpse of pain crossed his face with an expression of agony. 

He abruptly brought his hand to his left eye, closing his eyelids in an effort to contain the evident suffering. Itachi now appeared extremely troubled as he tried to keep his vision on Naruto. 

Naruto watched Itachi's reaction with a calm expression. "So this power comes at a high price, huh?" he commented, he didn't know the Mangekyō Sharingan or its powers, but he knew that what Itachi was experiencing now was the price for using that strange power. 

Itachi, regaining control from the pain and the vision that ceased to be blurred, lowered his hand and reopened his eyes, staring at Naruto with a hardened expression. "Yes," he admitted, "The power of the Mangekyō Sharingan at this stage is perilous, but soon I will make my eyes evolve." He said with conviction. 

Itachi took a deep breath and looked at Naruto, "Don't worry, I am enough to defeat you, Naruto Namikaze." Itachi declared and crossed his fingers, creating multiple shadow clones around himself. 

The clones grabbed a kunai in hand and advanced towards the adversary, while Naruto steadied his stance to face the clones. As they approached, he dived into a blade battle, moving with agility, his sword slicing through the air as he destroyed clone after clone, which turned into smoke, realizing that none of them could use the Mangekyō like the original Itachi could to anticipate his cuts. 

In a moment, while destroying the clones, Naruto advanced against the real Itachi and hit him in a non-vital part of the body to immobilize him, but Itachi in front of him transformed into a wall. "An illusion?!" Naruto commented a bit alarmed at being caught by it and before he could react, a blade pierced his chest and Itachi appeared in front of him. 

"It seems I have won, Naruto..." Itachi commented calmly. 

"You didn't hit any of my organs? I thought you wanted to kill me, Itachi..." Naruto comments with a certain smile. 

"No matter, you will fall anyway." Itachi said in the same tone while looking intensely at Naruto.

"I think not... It seems you haven't seen my fight with the masked man. If you had, you would know that physical attacks don't work on me," Naruto said and moved his sword at a speed beyond what Itachi could react to, but as the sword was about to hit Itachi's chest, it stopped. 

Naruto was confused and noticed a disturbance in the world; everything began to distort, and the night sky gave way to a red aspect with clouds, the world around also changed, there was no more Uchiha clan complex, Naruto found himself without his sword while being tied to a sort of cross. 

"Where am I... What place is this...?" Naruto commented, looking all around. 

"You thought you had caught me earlier, didn't you?" Itachi's voice was heard, and Naruto saw Itachi in front of him at that moment. "In fact, I saw your fight, knew that physical attacks didn't work against you, so I made you think that so I could get close and use another power of my eye." Itachi declared, presenting that strange scenario. 

"This is the Tsukuyomi of my Mangekyō Sharingan. A world where I am omnipotent, you lost the moment you fell into my jutsu and looked into my eyes, Naruto." Itachi spoke confidently, Naruto had fallen into his most powerful genjutsu. 

"Is this what being in a genjutsu feels like? I've never gone through this before, maybe I should have studied more about the ninja path, but you know how my parents are, very self-projecting." Naruto simply commented, looking around with a certain admiration. 

Itachi looked at him for a while, a bit disturbed by Naruto's calmness, and spoke. "It doesn't matter, you are here and we will spend another 71 hours, 54 minutes, and 45 seconds. During this time, I will stab you continuously. This may be an illusion, but the pain is real, most people don't survive the treatment you're about to undergo, so prepare yourself, Naruto." Itachi spoke as he appeared in a form of a crowd second wielding a sword, to stab Naruto. 

However, Naruto just looked at him calmly, he seemed quite at ease with his situation as he watched the blade coming towards him.
